| 2 Ecoutez, écoutez (très attentivement) sa voix terrible, et les sons qui sortent de sa bouche. | 2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. |
| 3 Il contemple toute la voûte des cieux, et sa lumière brille jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre. | 3 He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth. |
| 4 Puis un rugissement retentit ; il tonne de sa voix majestueuse (grandeur), et on ne peut suivre sa trace lorsque sa voix s'est fait entendre. | 4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard. |
| 5 Dieu tonne avec sa voix d'une façon merveilleuse. Il fait des choses grandes et impénétrables. | 5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. |
| 6 Il commande à la neige de descendre sur la terre, et aux pluies de l'hiver et aux averses impétueuses (fortes ondées). | 6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. |
| 7 Il met le sceau sur la main de tous les hommes, afin que chacun reconnaisse ses œuvres. | 7 He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work. |
| 8 La bête rentre dans sa tanière, et elle demeure dans sa caverne (son antre). | 8 Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places. |
| 9 La tempête sort de ses retraites, et le froid des régions du nord (d'Arcturus). | 9 Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. |
| 10 Au souffle de Dieu la glace se durcit, et (de nouveau) les eaux s'écoulent ensuite abondamment. | 10 By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. |
| 11 Le froment (blé) désire les nuées, et les nuées répandent leur lumière. | 11 Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud: |
| 12 Elles se dirigent en tous sens, partout où les conduit la volonté de celui qui les gouverne, pour accomplir tous ses ordres sur la surface du globe ; | 12 And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth. |
| 13 soit dans une tribu, soit sur sa propre terre, soit en tout autre lieu, où sa miséricorde (de sa miséricorde que ce soit, où il) leur aura ordonné de se trouver. | 13 He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy. |
| 14 Job, écoute ces choses ; arrête-toi et considère les merveilles de Dieu. | 14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. |
| 15 Sais-tu quand Dieu a commandé aux pluies de faire paraître la lumière de ses nuées ? | 15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine? |
| 16 Connais-tu les grandes routes des nuages et la parfaite science (les sciences parfaites) ? | 16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? |
| 17 Tes vêtements ne sont-ils pas chauds, lorsque le vent du midi souffle sur la terre ? | 17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind? |
| 18 Tu as peut-être créé avec lui les cieux, qui sont aussi solides que l'airain fondu (en bronze). | 18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass? |
| 19 Apprends-nous ce que nous pourrons lui dire ; car, pour nous, nous sommes enveloppés de ténèbres. | 19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. |
| 20 Qui lui rapportera ce que je dis ? L'homme qui lui parlerait serait anéanti (sera absorbé). | 20 Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up. |
| 21 Mais maintenant ils ne voient pas la lumière ; l'air s'épaissit tout à coup en nuées, et un vent qui passe les dissipera. | 21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them. |
| 22 L'or vient de l'aquilon, et c'est une chose redoutable que de louer Dieu (la louange qu'on donne à Dieu doit être accompagnée de crainte). | 22 Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty. |
| 23 Nous ne pouvons le trouver (comprendre) dignement ; il est grand par la force, par l'équité et par la justice, et on ne saurait le décrire. | 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. |
| 24 C'est pourquoi les hommes doivent le craindre, et nul de ceux qui se croient sages n'osera contempler sa grandeur. | 24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. |
