BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Así, pues, os conjuro en virtud de toda exhortación en Cristo, de toda persuasión de amor, de toda comunión en el Espíritu, de toda entrañable compasión,	1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,
2 que colméis mi alegría, siendo todos del mismo sentir, con un mismo amor, un mismo espíritu, unos mismos sentimientos.	2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.
3 Nada hagáis por rivalidad, ni por vanagloria, sino con humildad, considerando cada cual a los demás como superiores a sí mismo,	3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,
4 buscando cada cual no su propio interés sino el de los demás.	4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.
5 Tened entre vosotros los mismos sentimientos que Cristo:	5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:
6 El cual, siendo de condición divina, no retuvo ávidamente el ser igual a Dios.	6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.
7 Sino que se despojó de sí mismo tomando condición de siervo haciéndose semejante a los hombres y apareciendo en su porte como hombre;	7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,
8 y se humilló a sí mismo, obedeciendo hasta la muerte y muerte de cruz.	8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.
9 Por lo cual Dios le exaltó y le otorgó el Nombre, que está sobre todo nombre.	9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;
10 Para que al nombre de Jesús toda rodilla se doble en los cielos, en la tierra y en los abismos,	10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus
11 y toda lengua confiese que Cristo Jesús es SENOR para gloria de Dios Padre.	11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 Así pues, queridos míos, de la misma manera que habéis obedecido siempre, no sólo cuando estaba presente sino mucho más ahora que estoy ausente, trabajad con temor y temblor por vuestra salvación,	12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.
13 pues Dios es quien obra en vosotros el querer y el obrar, como bien le parece.	13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.
14 Hacedlo todo sin murmuraciones ni discusiones	14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining
15 para que seáis irreprochables e inocentes, hijos de Dios sin tacha en medio de una generación tortuosa y perversa, en medio de la cual brilláis como antorchas en el mundo,	15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,
16 presentándole la Palabra de vida para orgullo mío en el Día de Cristo, ya que no habré corrido ni me habré fatigado en vano.	16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.
17 Y aun cuando mi sangre fuera derramada como libación sobre el sacrificio y la ofrenda de vuestra fe, me alegraría y congratularía con vosotros.	17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-
18 De igual manera también vosotros alegraos y congratulaos conmigo.	18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.
19 Espero en el Señor Jesús poder enviaros pronto a Timoteo, para quedar también yo animado con vuestras noticias.	19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.
20 Pues a nadie tengo de tan iguales sentimientos que se preocupe sinceramente de vuestros intereses,	20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;
21 ya que todos buscan sus propios intereses y no los de Cristo Jesús.	21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.
22 Pero vosotros conocéis su probada virtud, pues como un hijo junto a su padre ha servido conmigo en favor del Evangelio.	22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.
23 A él, pues, espero enviaros tan pronto como vea clara mi situación.	23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;
24 Y aun confío en el Señor que yo mismo podré ir pronto.	24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.
25 Entretanto, he juzgado necesario devolveros a Epafrodito, mi hermano, colaborador y compañero de armas, enviado por vosotros con el encargo de servirme en mi necesidad,	25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;
26 porque os está añorando a todos vosotros y anda angustiado porque sabe que ha llegado a vosotros la noticia de su enfermedad.	26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .
27 Es cierto que estuvo enfermo y a punto de morir. Pero Dios se compadeció de él; y no sólo de él, sino también de mí, para que no tuviese yo tristeza sobre tristeza.	27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.
28 Así pues, me apresuro a enviarle para que viéndole de nuevo os llenéis de alegría y yo quede aliviado en mi tristeza.	28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.
29 Recibidle, pues, en el Señor con toda alegría, y tened en estima a los hombres como él,	29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,
30 ya que por la obra de Cristo ha estado a punto de morir, arriesgando su vida para supliros en el servicio que no podíais prestarme vosotros mismos.	30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.
