| 1 Hermanos, el anhelo de mi corazón y mi oración a Dios en favor de ellos es que se salven. | 1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. |
| 2 Testifico en su favor que tienen celo de Dios, pero no conforme a un pleno conocimiento. | 2 I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but it is not enlightened. |
| 3 Pues desconociendo la justicia de Dios y empeñándose en establecer la suya propia, no se sometieron a la justicia de Dios. | 3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. |
| 4 Porque el fin de la ley es Cristo, para justificación de todo creyente. | 4 For Christ is the end of the law, that every one who has faith may be justified. |
| 5 En efecto, Moisés escribe acerca de la justicia que nace de la ley: Quien la cumpla, vivirá por ella. | 5 Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on the law shall live by it. |
| 6 Mas la justicia que viene de la fe dice así: No digas en tu corazón ¿quién subirá al cielo?, es decir: para hacer bajar a Cristo; | 6 But the righteousness based on faith says, Do not say in your heart, "Who will ascend into heaven?" (that is, to bring Christ down) |
| 7 o bien: ¿quién bajará al abismo?, es decir: para hacer subir a Cristo de entre los muertos. | 7 or "Who will descend into the abyss?" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). |
| 8 Entonces, ¿qué dice? Cerca de ti está la palabra: en tu boca y en tu corazón, es decir, la palabra de la fe que nosotros proclamamos. | 8 But what does it say? The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart (that is, the word of faith which we preach); |
| 9 Porque, si confiesas con tu boca que Jesús es Señor y crees en tu corazón que Dios le resucitó de entre los muertos, serás salvo. | 9 because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. |
| 10 Pues con el corazón se cree para conseguir la justicia, y con la boca se confiesa para conseguir la salvación. | 10 For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved. |
| 11 Porque dice la Escritura: Todo el que crea en él no será confundido. | 11 The scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame." |
| 12 Que no hay distinción entre judío y griego, pues uno mismo es el Señor de todos, rico para todos los que le invocan. | 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him. |
| 13 Pues todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor se salvará. | 13 For, "every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved." |
| 14 Pero ¿cómo invocarán a aquel en quien no han creído? ¿Cómo creerán en aquel a quien no han oído? ¿Cómo oirán sin que se les predique? | 14 But how are men to call upon him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? |
| 15 Y ¿cómo predicarán si no son enviados? Como dice la Escritura: ¡Cuán hermosos los pies de los que anuncian el bien! | 15 And how can men preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach good news!" |
| 16 Pero no todos obedecieron a la Buena Nueva. Porque Isaías dice: ¡Señor!, ¿quién ha creído a nuestra predicación? | 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?" |
| 17 Por tanto, la fe viene de la predicación, y la predicación, por la Palabra de Cristo. | 17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes by the preaching of Christ. |
| 18 Y pregunto yo: ¿Es que no han oído? ¡Cierto que sí! Por toda la tierra se ha difundido su voz y hasta los confines de la tierra sus palabras. | 18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have; for "Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world." |
| 19 Pero pregunto: ¿Es que Israel no comprendió? Moisés es el primero en decir: Os volveré celosos de una que no es nación; contra una nación estúpida os enfureceré. | 19 Again I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says, "I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation; with a foolish nation I will make you angry." |
| 20 Isaías, a su vez, se atreve a decir: Fui hallado de quienes no me buscaban; me manifesté a quienes no preguntaban por mi. | 20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say, "I have been found by those who did not seek me; I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me." |
| 21 Mas a Israel dice: Todo el día extendí mis manos hacia un pueblo incrédulo y rebelde. | 21 But of Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people." |
