1 From the Elder: greetings to my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in truth.	1 הזקן אל גיוס החביב אשר אני אהב אתו באמת
2 My dear friend, I hope everything is going happily with you and that you are as well physical y as youare spiritual y.	2 חביבי חפצי הוא כי ייטב לך בכל דבר ותחזק כאשר טוב לך בנפשך
3 It was a great joy to me when some brothers came and told of your faithfulness to the truth, and of yourlife in the truth.	3 כי שמחתי למאד כאשר באו אחים ויעידו על אמתך אשר מתהלך באמת אתה
4 It is always my greatest joy to hear that my children are living according to the truth.	4 אין לי שמחה גדולה מלשמע את אשר בני יתהלכו באמת
5 My dear friend, you have done loyal work in helping these brothers, even though they were strangers toyou.	5 חביבי באמונה כל מעשיך עם האחים ועם הארחים
6 They are a proof to the whole Church of your love and it would be a kindness if you could help them ontheir journey as God would approve.	6 אשר העידו על אהבתך בפני הקהל ואף תיטיב לעשות בלותך אתם כאשר יאתה לפני אלהים
7 It was entirely for the sake of the name that they set out, without depending on the non-believers foranything:	7 כי בעבור שמו יצאו ולא לקחו מאומה מן הגוים
8 it is our duty to welcome people of this sort and contribute our share to their work for the truth.	8 על כן חיבים אנחנו לקבל אתם למען נהיה עזרים לאמת
9 I have written a note for the members of the church, but Diotrephes, who enjoys being in charge of it,refuses to accept us.	9 אני כתבתי אל הקהלה אך דיוטריפס המתאוה להיות עליהם לראש איננו מקבל אתנו
10 So if I come, I shal tel everyone how he has behaved, and about the wicked accusations he has beencirculating against us. As if that were not enough, he not only refuses to welcome our brothers, but prevents fromdoing so other people who would have liked to, and expels them from the church.	10 על כן בבאי אזכיר את מעשיו אשר הוא עשה בספרו עלינו דברים רעים ולא דיו שלא יקבל את האחים כי גם ימנע את החפצים לקבל ויגרשם מתוך הקהלה
11 My dear friend, never fol ow a bad example, but keep fol owing the good one; whoever does what isright is from God, but no one who does what is wrong has ever seen God.	11 חביבי אל תרדף הרעה כי אם הטוב העשה טוב הוא מאלהים והעשה רע לא ראה את האלהים
12 Demetrius has been approved by everyone, and indeed by Truth itself. We too wil vouch for him andyou know that our testimony is true.	12 על דימטריוס העידו הכל וגם האמת עצמה וגם אנחנו מעידים עליו וידעתם כי עדותנו היא נאמנה
13 There were several things I had to tel you but I would rather not trust them to pen and ink.	13 הרבה לי לכתב ולא חפצתי לכתב אליך בדיו ובקנה
14 However, I hope to see you soon and talk to you in person.	14 אבל אקוה לראותך במהרה ופה אל פה נדבר׃ [ (III 1:15) שלום לך הרעים שאלים לשלומך שאל לשלום הרעים לאיש איש בשמו׃ ]
15 Peace be with you; greetings from your friends; greet each of our friends by name.
