NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 From the Elder: greetings to my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in truth.	1 Yo, el Presbítero, saludo a mi querido hermano Gayo, a quien amo de verdad.
2 My dear friend, I hope everything is going happily with you and that you are as well physical y as youare spiritual y.	2 Querido hermano, ruego a Dios que te encuentre perfectamente bien y que goces de buena salud en tu cuerpo, como la tienes en tu alma.
3 It was a great joy to me when some brothers came and told of your faithfulness to the truth, and of yourlife in the truth.	3 Me alegré mucho cuando llegaron algunos hermanos y dieron testimonio de tu adhesión a la verdad, porque efectivamente tú vives de acuerdo con ella,
4 It is always my greatest joy to hear that my children are living according to the truth.	4 y mi mayor alegría es saber que mis hijos viven en la verdad.
5 My dear friend, you have done loyal work in helping these brothers, even though they were strangers toyou.	5 Querido hermano, tú obras fielmente, al ponerte al servicio de tus hermanos, incluso de los que están de paso,
6 They are a proof to the whole Church of your love and it would be a kindness if you could help them ontheir journey as God would approve.	6 y ellos dieron testimonio de tu amor delante de la Iglesia. Harás bien en ayudarlos para que puedan proseguir su viaje de una manera digna de Dios.
7 It was entirely for the sake of the name that they set out, without depending on the non-believers foranything:	7 porque ellos se pusieron en camino para servir a Cristo, sin aceptar nada de los paganos,
8 it is our duty to welcome people of this sort and contribute our share to their work for the truth.	8 Por eso debemos acogerlos, a fin de colaborar con ellos en favor de la verdad.
9 I have written a note for the members of the church, but Diotrephes, who enjoys being in charge of it,refuses to accept us.	9 Yo escribí una carta a la Iglesia, pero Diótrefes, que aspira a ocupar el primer puesto en ella, no reconoce nuestra autoridad.
10 So if I come, I shal tel everyone how he has behaved, and about the wicked accusations he has beencirculating against us. As if that were not enough, he not only refuses to welcome our brothers, but prevents fromdoing so other people who would have liked to, and expels them from the church.	10 Por eso, cuando vaya, le echaré en cara el mal que hace hablando en contra de nosotros. Y no contento con esto, no quiere recibir a los hermanos, y a los que quisiera recibirlos, les prohibe que lo hagan y los expulsa de la Iglesia.
11 My dear friend, never fol ow a bad example, but keep fol owing the good one; whoever does what isright is from God, but no one who does what is wrong has ever seen God.	11 Querido hermano, no imites lo malo, sino lo bueno. El que hace el bien pertenece a Dios, pero el que hace al mal no ha visto a Dios.
12 Demetrius has been approved by everyone, and indeed by Truth itself. We too wil vouch for him andyou know that our testimony is true.	12 En cambio, todos dan testimonio en favor de Demetrio, y la verdad confirma este testimonio. Nosotros también lo hacemos, y tú sabes que nuestro testimonio es verdadero.
13 There were several things I had to tel you but I would rather not trust them to pen and ink.	13 Tendría muchas cosas que decirte, pero no quiero hacerlo por carta.
14 However, I hope to see you soon and talk to you in person.	14 Espero verte pronto para hablarte personalmente.
15 Peace be with you; greetings from your friends; greet each of our friends by name.	15 La paz esté contigo. Los amigos te saludan. Saluda a los nuestros, a cada uno en particular.
