1 From the Elder: greetings to my dear friend Gaius, whom I love in truth.	1 El Presbítero al querido Gayo a quien amo según la verdad.
2 My dear friend, I hope everything is going happily with you and that you are as well physical y as youare spiritual y.	2 Pido, querido, en mis oraciones que vayas bien en todo como va bien tu alma y que goces de salud.
3 It was a great joy to me when some brothers came and told of your faithfulness to the truth, and of yourlife in the truth.	3 Grande fue mi alegría al llegar los hermanos y dar testimonio de tu verdad, puesto que vives según la verdad.
4 It is always my greatest joy to hear that my children are living according to the truth.	4 No experimento alegría mayor que oír que mis hijos viven según la verdad.
5 My dear friend, you have done loyal work in helping these brothers, even though they were strangers toyou.	5 Querido, te portas fielmente en tu conducta para con los hermanos, y eso que son forasteros.
6 They are a proof to the whole Church of your love and it would be a kindness if you could help them ontheir journey as God would approve.	6 Ellos han dado testimonio de tu amor en presencia de la Iglesia. Harás bien en proveerles para su viaje de manera digna de Dios.
7 It was entirely for the sake of the name that they set out, without depending on the non-believers foranything:	7 Pues por el Nombre salieron sin recibir nada de los gentiles.
8 it is our duty to welcome people of this sort and contribute our share to their work for the truth.	8 Por eso debemos acoger a tales personas, para ser colaboradores en la obra de la Verdad.
9 I have written a note for the members of the church, but Diotrephes, who enjoys being in charge of it,refuses to accept us.	9 He escrito alguna cosa a la Iglesia; pero Diótrefes, ese que ambiciona el primer puesto entre ellos, no nos recibe.
10 So if I come, I shal tel everyone how he has behaved, and about the wicked accusations he has beencirculating against us. As if that were not enough, he not only refuses to welcome our brothers, but prevents fromdoing so other people who would have liked to, and expels them from the church.	10 Por eso, cuando vaya, le recordaré las cosas que está haciendo, criticándonos con palabras llenas de malicia; y como si no fuera bastante, tampoco recibe a los hermanos, impide a los que desean hacerlo y los expulsa de la Iglesia.
11 My dear friend, never fol ow a bad example, but keep fol owing the good one; whoever does what isright is from God, but no one who does what is wrong has ever seen God.	11 Querido, no imites lo malo, sino lo bueno. El que obra el bien es de Dios; el que obra el mal no ha visto a Dios.
12 Demetrius has been approved by everyone, and indeed by Truth itself. We too wil vouch for him andyou know that our testimony is true.	12 Todos, y hasta la misma Verdad, dan testimonio de Demetrio. También nosotros damos testimonio y sabes que nuestro testimonio es verdadero.
13 There were several things I had to tel you but I would rather not trust them to pen and ink.	13 Tengo mucho que escribirte, pero no quiero hacerlo con tinta y pluma.
14 However, I hope to see you soon and talk to you in person.	14 Espero verte pronto y hablaremos de viva voz.
15 Peace be with you; greetings from your friends; greet each of our friends by name.	15 La paz sea contigo. Los amigos te saludan. Saluda a los amigos, a cada uno en particular.
