1 Every high priest is taken from among human beings and is appointed to act on their behalf inrelationships with God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins;	1 Imperocchè ogni pontefice preso di tra gli uomini è preposto a prò degli uomini a tutte quelle cose, che Dio riguardano, affinchè offerisca doni, e sagrificj pei peccati:
2 he can sympathise with those who are ignorant or who have gone astray, because he too is subject tothe limitations of weakness.	2 Che possa aver compassione degli ignoranti, e degli erranti: come essendo egli stesso circondato di infermità:
3 That is why he has to make sin offerings for himself as wel as for the people.	3 E per questo dee, come pel popolo, cosi anche per se stesso offerir sagrificio pei peccati:
4 No one takes this honour on himself; it needs a cal from God, as in Aaron's case.	4 Né alcuno tal onore da se si appropria, ma ehi è chiamato da Dio, come Aronne.
5 And so it was not Christ who gave himself the glory of becoming high priest, but the one who said tohim: You are my Son, today I have fathered you,	5 Cosi anche Cristo non si glorificò da se stesso per esser fatto pontefice: ma (glorificollo) colui, che dissegli: mio figliuolo se' tu, io oggi ti ho generato.
6 and in another text: You are a priest for ever, of the order of Melchizedek.	6 Come anche altrove dice: tu se' sacerdote in eterno secondo l'ordine di Melchisedech.
7 During his life on earth, he offered up prayer and entreaty, with loud cries and with tears, to the onewho had the power to save him from death, and, winning a hearing by his reverence,	7 Il quale ne' giorni della sua carne avendo offerto preghiere, e suppliche con forti grida, e con lagrime a colui, che salvarlo potea dalla morte, fu esaudito per la sua riverenza:
8 he learnt obedience, Son though he was, through his sufferings;	8 E benché fosse Figliuolo di Dio, Imparò da quello, che pati, l'ubbidienza:
9 when he had been perfected, he became for al who obey him the source of eternal salvation	9 E consumato, diventò causa di eterna salute a tutti quegli, che sono a lui ubbidienti,
10 and was acclaimed by God with the title of high priest of the order of Melchizedek.	10 Essendo stato chiamato da Dio pontefice secondo l'ordine di Melchisedech.
11 On this subject we have many things to say, and they are difficult to explain because you have grownso slow at understanding.	11 Sopra di che grandi cose abbiamo da dire, e difficili a spiegarsi: dappoiché siete diventati duri di orecchie.
12 Indeed, when you should by this time have become masters, you need someone to teach you al overagain the elements of the principles of God's sayings; you have gone back to needing milk, and not solid food.	12 Imperocché quando, riguardo al tempo, dovevate esser maestri: avete bisogno, che siavi insegnato di nuovo quel, che siano i rudimenti del cominciamento de' parlari di Dio: e siete tali da aver bisogno di latte, e non di solido cibo.
13 Truly, no one who is stil living on milk can digest the doctrine of saving justice, being stil a baby.	13 Or chi è al latte, non è pratico del sermone della giustizia: perché egli è bambino.
14 Solid food is for adults with minds trained by practice to distinguish between good and bad.	14 Ma il solido cibo è pei perfetti: Per coloro, i quali per consuetudine hanno i sensi esercitati a discernere il bene, ed il male.
