Hebrews 3

1 That is why al you who are holy brothers and share the same heavenly cal should turn your minds toJesus, the apostle and the high priest of our profession of faith.	1 Voi dunque, o santi fratelli, partecipi della vocazione celeste, fissate lo sguardo nell'Apostolo, nel gran sacerdote della nostra fede, in Gesù,
2 He was trustworthy to the one who appointed him, just like Moses, who remained trustworthy in all hishousehold;	2 il quale è fedele a colui che l'ha costituito, come anche Mose fu fedele in tutta la casa di lui.
3 but he deserves a greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house is more honoured than thehouse itself.	3 Egli dunque è stato reputato degno di tanta maggior gloria in confronto di Mosè, quanto chi l'ha costituito ha maggior gloria della casa.
4 Every house is built by someone, of course; but God built everything that exists.	4 Certo ogni casa è fatta da qualcuno; ma chi ha creato tutte le cose è Dio.
5 It is true that Moses was trustworthy in the household of God, as a servant is, acting as witness to thethings which were yet to be revealed,	5 Or Mosè fu bensì « fedele in tutta la casa di lui », come servitore, per render testimonianza alle cose che dovevano essere poi annunziate;
6 but Christ is trustworthy as a son is, over his household. And we are his household, as long as wefearlessly maintain the hope in which we glory.	6 ma Cristo è come un figliolo in casa sua; e la casa siamo noi, se incrollabile riteniamo sino alla fine la fiducia e la gloria della speranza.
7 That is why, as the Holy Spirit says: If only you would listen to him today!	7 Perciò, come dice lo Spirito Santo: Oggi se udirete la sua voce,
8 Do not harden your hearts, as at the rebel ion, as at the time of testing in the desert,	8 non vogliate indurare i vostri cuori, come nella contesa, il giorno della tentazione nel deserto.
9 when your ancestors chal enged me, and put me to the test, and saw what I could do	9 Dove i vostri padri mi tentarono, fecero di me prova e videro le mie opere
10 for forty years. That was why that generation sickened me and I said, 'Always fickle hearts, thatcannot grasp my ways!'	10 per quarantanni: perciò mi irritai con questa generazione, e dissi: sempre son traviati nel loro cuore. Essi però non han conosciute le mie vie
11 And then in my anger I swore that they would never enter my place of rest.	11 ed ho giurato nel mio sdegno: Non entreranno nel mio riposo.
12 Take care, brothers, that none of you ever has a wicked heart, so unbelieving as to turn away from theliving God.	12 Badate o fratelli, che in qualcuno di voi non abbia a trovarsi un cuore cattivo e capace d'incredulità, e di farvi allontanare da Dio vivo;
13 Every day, as long as this today lasts, keep encouraging one another so that none of you is hardenedby the lure of sin,	13 ma esortatevi a vicenda ogni giorno, fino a che si possa dire: « oggi », affinchè nessuno di voi resti indurato per la seduzione della colpa,
14 because we have been granted a share with Christ only if we keep the grasp of our first confidencefirm to the end.	14 perchè siamo partecipi di Cristo alla condizione di ritenere sino alla fine salda la fede che avemmo sin da principio.
15 In this saying: If only you would listen to him today; do not harden your hearts, as at the Rebel ion,	15 Se è detto: « Oggi, se udirete la sua voce, non vogliate indurare i vostri cuori come nella contesa ».
16 who was it who listened and then rebelled? Surely al those whom Moses led out of Egypt.	16 Certo, quelli che, dopo avere udito, prevaricarono, furono alcuni, ma non tutti coloro che sotto la scorta di Mosè uscirono dall'Egitto.
17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Surely with those who sinned and whose dead bodiesfel in the desert.	17 E con chi s'irritò per quarantanni, se non con quelli che avevano peccato e i cadaveri dei quali giacquero nel deserto?
18 To whom did he swear they would never enter his place of rest? Surely those who would not believe.	18 E a chi giurò di non farli entrare nel suo riposo, se non a coloro che furono miscredenti?
19 So we see that it was their refusal to believe which prevented them from entering.	19 Vediamo infatti che non vi poterono entrare proprio a motivo della loro miscredenza.
