Hebrews 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 That is why al you who are holy brothers and share the same heavenly cal should turn your minds toJesus, the apostle and the high priest of our profession of faith.	1 Perciò, fratelli santi, partecipi di una vocazione celeste, fissate lo sguardo su Gesù, l'apostolo e pontefice della nostra confessione di fede,
2 He was trustworthy to the one who appointed him, just like Moses, who remained trustworthy in all hishousehold;	2 il quale fu fedele a colui che lo fece, come anche Mosè lo fu in tutta la casa di lui.
3 but he deserves a greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house is more honoured than thehouse itself.	3 Infatti (Gesù) è stato fatto degno di una gloria tanto maggiore di quella di Mosè, quanto l'onore di chi fabbrica la casa è maggiore di quello della casa.
4 Every house is built by someone, of course; but God built everything that exists.	4 Ogni casa infatti è costruita da qualcuno; ora chi ha fabbricato tutte le cose è Dio.
5 It is true that Moses was trustworthy in the household of God, as a servant is, acting as witness to thethings which were yet to be revealed,	5 Mosè, sì, fu fedele in tutta la casa di lui, come ministro, a testimonio delle cose che dovevano essere dette;
6 but Christ is trustworthy as a son is, over his household. And we are his household, as long as wefearlessly maintain the hope in which we glory.	6 Cristo invece come Figlio nella casa di lui; la cui casa siamo noi, se però conserviamo la sicurezza e il vanto della speranza.
7 That is why, as the Holy Spirit says: If only you would listen to him today!	7 Perciò, come dice lo Spirito Santo: Oggi, se udirete la sua voce,
8 Do not harden your hearts, as at the rebel ion, as at the time of testing in the desert,	8 non indurite i vostri cuori, come nell'esasperazione, nel giorno della tentazione nel deserto,
9 when your ancestors chal enged me, and put me to the test, and saw what I could do	9 dove i vostri padri mi tentarono mettendomi alla prova, benché avessero visto le mie opere
10 for forty years. That was why that generation sickened me and I said, 'Always fickle hearts, thatcannot grasp my ways!'	10 per quarant'anni. Perciò mi irritai contro questa generazione e dissi: sempre si sviano nel cuore, essi non hanno conosciuto le mie vie,
11 And then in my anger I swore that they would never enter my place of rest.	11 cosicché ho giurato nella mia collera: non entreranno nel mio riposo.
12 Take care, brothers, that none of you ever has a wicked heart, so unbelieving as to turn away from theliving God.	12 Badate, fratelli, che in nessuno di voi vi sia un cuore cattivo di incredulità nell'allontanarvi dal Dio vivente,
13 Every day, as long as this today lasts, keep encouraging one another so that none of you is hardenedby the lure of sin,	13 ma esortatevi l'un l'altro ogni giorno, finché si può dire "oggi", affinché nessuno di voi sia indurito dalla seduzione del peccato.
14 because we have been granted a share with Christ only if we keep the grasp of our first confidencefirm to the end.	14 Siamo infatti divenuti partecipi di Cristo, purché conserviamo solida, sino alla fine, la sicurezza iniziale.
15 In this saying: If only you would listen to him today; do not harden your hearts, as at the Rebel ion,	15 Quando si dice: Oggi, se udirete la sua voce, non indurite i vostri cuori come nell'esasperazione...,
16 who was it who listened and then rebelled? Surely al those whom Moses led out of Egypt.	16 chi furono, infatti, quelli che, avendo udito, esasperarono? Non furono proprio tutti quelli che uscirono dall'Egitto sotto la guida di Mosè?
17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Surely with those who sinned and whose dead bodiesfel in the desert.	17 E contro chi Dio fu irritato per quarant'anni? Non forse contro quelli che avevano peccato, i cui cadaveri caddero nel deserto?
18 To whom did he swear they would never enter his place of rest? Surely those who would not believe.	18 E a chi giurò che non sarebbero entrati nel suo riposo, se non a quelli che si erano ribellati?
19 So we see that it was their refusal to believe which prevented them from entering.	19 E noi vediamo che essi non poterono entrare a causa dell'incredulità.
