1 That is why al you who are holy brothers and share the same heavenly cal should turn your minds toJesus, the apostle and the high priest of our profession of faith.	1 Voi adunque fratelli santi, partecipi della vocazione celeste, considerate l'Apostolo, e il Pontefice della nostra confessione, Gesù:
2 He was trustworthy to the one who appointed him, just like Moses, who remained trustworthy in all hishousehold;	2 Il quale è fedele a lui, che (tale) lo fece, come già Mosé in tutta la casa di lui.
3 but he deserves a greater glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house is more honoured than thehouse itself.	3 Conciossiachè di maggior gloria è stato questi riputato degno sopra Mosè, come più grande, che quel della casa, è l'onore, di colui, che fabbricolla.
4 Every house is built by someone, of course; but God built everything that exists.	4 Imperocché ogni casa da qualcheduno è fabbricata: or quei, che creò tutte le cose, egli è Iddio.
5 It is true that Moses was trustworthy in the household of God, as a servant is, acting as witness to thethings which were yet to be revealed,	5 E Mosè veramente era fedele in tutta la casa di lui come servitore, per essere testimone di quelle cose, che dovevan dirsi:
6 but Christ is trustworthy as a son is, over his household. And we are his household, as long as wefearlessly maintain the hope in which we glory.	6 Ma Cristo come figliuolo sopra la propria casa: la qual casa siam noi, se ferma ritenghiamo sino alla fine la fiducia, e la gloria della speranza.
7 That is why, as the Holy Spirit says: If only you would listen to him today!	7 Per la qual cosa, (conforme dice lo Spirito santo): oggi se udirete la voce di lui,
8 Do not harden your hearts, as at the rebel ion, as at the time of testing in the desert,	8 Non vogliate indurare i vostri cuori, come (nel luogo) della alterazione al dì della tentazione nel deserto,
9 when your ancestors chal enged me, and put me to the test, and saw what I could do	9 Dove i padri vostri tentaron me, fecer prova di me, e videro le opere mie
10 for forty years. That was why that generation sickened me and I said, 'Always fickle hearts, thatcannot grasp my ways!'	10 Per quaranta anni: perciò fui disgustato altamente con questa nazione, e dissi: costoro vanno sempre errando col cuore. Ed eglino non han conosciute le mie vie,
11 And then in my anger I swore that they would never enter my place of rest.	11 A' quali giurai sdegnato: non entreranno nella mia requie.
12 Take care, brothers, that none of you ever has a wicked heart, so unbelieving as to turn away from theliving God.	12 Badate, fratelli, che mai non sia in alcuno di voi un cuor cattivo per la miscredenza, onde vi allontaniate da Dio vivo:
13 Every day, as long as this today lasts, keep encouraging one another so that none of you is hardenedby the lure of sin,	13 Ma esortatevi gli uni gli altri ogni giorno, sino a tanto che giorno d'oggi si noma, affinchè alcuno di voi non rimanga indurato per la seduzione della colpa.
14 because we have been granted a share with Christ only if we keep the grasp of our first confidencefirm to the end.	14 Imperocché siam divenuti consorti di Cristo: purché fermo ritenghiamo sino alla fine il fondamento, per cui siamo in lui sostenuti,
15 In this saying: If only you would listen to him today; do not harden your hearts, as at the Rebel ion,	15 Mentre dicesi: oggi se udirete la voce di lui, non vogliate indurare i vostri cuori, come in quella altercazione.
16 who was it who listened and then rebelled? Surely al those whom Moses led out of Egypt.	16 Imperocché alcuni, che avevano udito, altercarono, non però tutti quelli, che per mezzo di Mosè uscirono dall'Egitto.
17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Surely with those who sinned and whose dead bodiesfel in the desert.	17 E con quali uomini fu egli disgustato per quaranta anni, se non con que', che peccarono, de' quali furono stesi al suolo i cadaveri nel deserto?
18 To whom did he swear they would never enter his place of rest? Surely those who would not believe.	18 Ed a quali uomini giurò egli, che non entrerebbono nella sua requie, si' non a quelli, che furono miscredenti?
19 So we see that it was their refusal to believe which prevented them from entering.	19 E noi veggiamo, come a motivo della miscredenza non poterono entrarvi.
