NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 It is for you, then, to preach the behaviour which goes with healthy doctrine.	1 Tu, però, insegna ciò che è conforme alla sana dottrina.
2 Older men should be reserved, dignified, moderate, sound in faith and love and perseverance.	2 Che i vecchi siano sobri, dignitosi, prudenti, sani nella fede, nella carità e nella pazienza.
3 Similarly, older women should behave as befits religious people, with no scandal-mongering and noaddiction to wine -- they must be the teachers of right behaviour	3 Anche le donne anziane abbiano un comportamento quale si addice ai santi; non siano malediche né schiave del molto vino, ma piuttosto maestre di bontà,
4 and show younger women how they should love their husbands and love their children,	4 per insegnare alle giovani ad essere sagge, ad amare i loro mariti e i loro figli,
5 how they must be sensible and chaste, and how to work in their homes, and be gentle, and obey theirhusbands, so that the message of God is not disgraced.	5 ad essere prudenti, caste, attaccate ai loro doveri domestici, buone, sottomesse ai loro mariti, perché non sia vituperata la parola del Signore.
6 Similarly, urge younger men to be moderate in everything that they do,	6 Esorta anche i più giovani ad essere prudenti in tutto,
7 and you yourself set an example of good works, by sincerity and earnestness, when you are teaching,and by a message sound and irreproachable	7 offrendo te stesso come modello di buone opere: purità nella dottrina, gravità,
8 so that any opponent will be at a loss, with no accusation to make against us.	8 parola sana e incensurabile, affinché l'avversario sia confuso non trovando niente di male da dire nei nostri riguardi.
9 Slaves must be obedient to their masters in everything, and do what is wanted without argument;	9 Gli schiavi siano sottomessi ai loro padroni in ogni cosa, cercando di piacere a loro, senza contraddirli;
10 and there must be no pilfering -- they must show complete honesty at al times, so that they are in everyway a credit to the teaching of God our Saviour.	10 non li frodino, ma dimostrino loro la più sincera fedeltà, allo scopo di rendere onore in tutto alla dottrina del Salvatore nostro Dio.
11 You see, God's grace has been revealed to save the whole human race;	11 E' apparsa infatti la grazia di Dio, apportatrice di salvezza per tutti gli uomini,
12 it has taught us that we should give up everything contrary to true religion and all our worldly passions;we must be self-restrained and live upright and religious lives in this present world,	12 insegnandoci a vivere nel secolo presente con saggezza, con giustizia e pietà, rinunciando all'empietà e ai desideri mondani,
13 waiting in hope for the blessing which will come with the appearing of the glory of our great God andSaviour Christ Jesus.	13 in attesa della beata speranza e della manifestazione della gloria del grande Dio e Salvatore nostro Gesù Cristo,
14 He offered himself for us in order to ransom us from al our faults and to purify a people to be his veryown and eager to do good.	14 il quale ha dato se stesso per noi allo scopo di riscattarci da ogni iniquità e purificare per sé un popolo che gli appartenga, zelante nel compiere opere buone.
15 This is what you must say, encouraging or arguing with ful authority; no one should despise you.	15 Queste cose prèdicale ed incùlcale, riprendendo con ogni autorità. Nessuno ti disprezzi.
