¹ It is for you, then, to preach the behaviour which goes with healthy doctrine.	¹ Tu, però, insegna ciò che è conforme alla sana dottrina.
² Older men should be reserved, dignified, moderate, sound in faith and love and perseverance.	² Che i vecchi siano sobri, dignitosi, prudenti, sani nella fede, nella carità e nella pazienza.
³ Similarly, older women should behave as befits religious people, with no scandal-mongering and noaddiction to wine -- they must be the teachers of right behaviour	³ Anche le donne anziane abbiano un comportamento quale si addice ai santi; non siano malediche né schiave del molto vino, ma piuttosto maestre di bontà,
⁴ and show younger women how they should love their husbands and love their children,	⁴ per insegnare alle giovani ad essere sagge, ad amare i loro mariti e i loro figli,
⁵ how they must be sensible and chaste, and how to work in their homes, and be gentle, and obey theirhusbands, so that the message of God is not disgraced.	⁵ ad essere prudenti, caste, attaccate ai loro doveri domestici, buone, sottomesse ai loro mariti, perché non sia vituperata la parola del Signore.
⁶ Similarly, urge younger men to be moderate in everything that they do,	⁶ Esorta anche i più giovani ad essere prudenti in tutto,
⁷ and you yourself set an example of good works, by sincerity and earnestness, when you are teaching,and by a message sound and irreproachable	⁷ offrendo te stesso come modello di buone opere: purità nella dottrina, gravità,
⁸ so that any opponent will be at a loss, with no accusation to make against us.	⁸ parola sana e incensurabile, affinché l'avversario sia confuso non trovando niente di male da dire nei nostri riguardi.
⁹ Slaves must be obedient to their masters in everything, and do what is wanted without argument;	⁹ Gli schiavi siano sottomessi ai loro padroni in ogni cosa, cercando di piacere a loro, senza contraddirli;
¹⁰ and there must be no pilfering -- they must show complete honesty at al times, so that they are in everyway a credit to the teaching of God our Saviour.	¹⁰ non li frodino, ma dimostrino loro la più sincera fedeltà, allo scopo di rendere onore in tutto alla dottrina del Salvatore nostro Dio.
¹¹ You see, God's grace has been revealed to save the whole human race;	¹¹ E' apparsa infatti la grazia di Dio, apportatrice di salvezza per tutti gli uomini,
¹² it has taught us that we should give up everything contrary to true religion and all our worldly passions;we must be self-restrained and live upright and religious lives in this present world,	¹² insegnandoci a vivere nel secolo presente con saggezza, con giustizia e pietà, rinunciando all'empietà e ai desideri mondani,
¹³ waiting in hope for the blessing which will come with the appearing of the glory of our great God andSaviour Christ Jesus.	¹³ in attesa della beata speranza e della manifestazione della gloria del grande Dio e Salvatore nostro Gesù Cristo,
¹⁴ He offered himself for us in order to ransom us from al our faults and to purify a people to be his veryown and eager to do good.	¹⁴ il quale ha dato se stesso per noi allo scopo di riscattarci da ogni iniquità e purificare per sé un popolo che gli appartenga, zelante nel compiere opere buone.
¹⁵ This is what you must say, encouraging or arguing with ful authority; no one should despise you.	¹⁵ Queste cose prèdicale ed incùlcale, riprendendo con ogni autorità. Nessuno ti disprezzi.
