NEW JERUSALEMKING JAMES BIBLE
It is for you, then, to preach the behaviour which goes with healthy doctrine.1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
Older men should be reserved, dignified, moderate, sound in faith and love and perseverance.2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
Similarly, older women should behave as befits religious people, with no scandal-mongering and noaddiction to wine -- they must be the teachers of right behaviour3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
and show younger women how they should love their husbands and love their children,4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
how they must be sensible and chaste, and how to work in their homes, and be gentle, and obey theirhusbands, so that the message of God is not disgraced.5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Similarly, urge younger men to be moderate in everything that they do,6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
and you yourself set an example of good works, by sincerity and earnestness, when you are teaching,and by a message sound and irreproachable7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
so that any opponent will be at a loss, with no accusation to make against us.8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
Slaves must be obedient to their masters in everything, and do what is wanted without argument;9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
and there must be no pilfering -- they must show complete honesty at al times, so that they are in everyway a credit to the teaching of God our Saviour.10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
You see, God's grace has been revealed to save the whole human race;11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
it has taught us that we should give up everything contrary to true religion and all our worldly passions;we must be self-restrained and live upright and religious lives in this present world,12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
waiting in hope for the blessing which will come with the appearing of the glory of our great God andSaviour Christ Jesus.13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
He offered himself for us in order to ransom us from al our faults and to purify a people to be his veryown and eager to do good.14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
This is what you must say, encouraging or arguing with ful authority; no one should despise you.15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
