2 Timothy 2

1 As for you, my dear son, take strength from the grace which is in Christ Jesus.	1 Tu dunque, o figlio mio, prendi vigore nella grazia che è in Cristo Gesù,
2 Pass on to reliable people what you have heard from me through many witnesses so that they in turn wilbe able to teach others.	2 e le cose che hai da me udite in presenza di molti testimoni, confidale a uomini fedeli che sian capaci d'insegnar le ad altri.
3 Bear with your share of difficulties, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.	3 Sopporta le fatiche qual buon soldato di Cristo Gesù.
4 No one on active service involves himself in the affairs of civilian life, because he must win the approvalof the man who enlisted him;	4 Nessun ascritto alla milizia di Dio s'impaccia negli affari del secolo per piacere a chi l'ha arruolato,
5 or again someone who enters an athletic contest wins only by competing in the sports -- a prize can bewon only by competing according to the rules;	5 ed anche l'atleta non è coronato, se non ha combattuto secondo le regole.
6 and again, it is the farmer who works hard that has the first claim on any crop that is harvested.	6 L'agricoltore che fatica deve essere il primo ad avere la sua parte di frutti.
7 Think over what I have said, and the Lord wil give you ful understanding.	7 Poni mente a quel che ti dico; il Signore poi ti darà intelligenza in ogni cosa.
8 Remember the gospel that I carry, 'Jesus Christ risen from the dead, sprung from the race of David';	8 Ricordati che il Signore Gesù Cristo, progenie di David, è risuscitato da morte, secondo il mio Vangelo,
9 it is on account of this that I have to put up with suffering, even to being chained like a criminal. ButGod's message cannot be chained up.	9 pel quale io soffro fino ad essere incatenato come un malfattore, ma la parola di Dio non è incatenata.
10 So I persevere for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they, too, may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.	10 Perciò io sopporto ogni cosa per amore degli eletti, affinchè essi pure conseguiscano la salute che è in Cristo Gesù, colla gloria celeste.
11 Here is a saying that you can rely on: If we have died with him, then we shal live with him.	11 Parola fedele: se insieme noi moriamo, anche insieme vivremo,
12 If we persevere, then we shal reign with him. If we disown him, then he wil disown us.	12 e se insieme soffriremo, anche insieme regneremo; se lo rinneghiamo, anche lui ci rinnegherà;
13 If we are faithless, he is faithful still, for he cannot disown his own self.	13 anche se siamo infedeli, egli rimane fedele, non potendo rinnegare se stesso.
14 Remind them of this; and tell them in the name of God that there must be no wrangling about words: althat this ever achieves is the destruction of those who are listening.	14 Tali cose rammenta, prendendo il Signore a testimonio. Fuggi le dispute di parole, le quali non giovano ad altro che a rovinare chi le ascolta.
15 Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who has no need to be ashamed,but who keeps the message of truth on a straight path.	15 Studiati di comparire degno d'approvazione davanti a Dio, come operaio, che non ha di che vergognarsi maneggiando rettamente la parola di verità.
16 Have nothing to do with godless philosophical discussions -- they only lead further and further awayfrom true religion.	16 Fuggi i discorsi profani e frivoli: coloro che li fanno si avanzano molto nell'iniquità
17 Talk of this kind spreads corruption like gangrene, as in the case of Hymenaeus and Philetus,	17 e le loro parole van serpendo come cancro. Tra questi è Imeneo e Fileto,
18 the men who have gone astray from the truth, claiming that the resurrection has already taken place.They are upsetting some people's faith.	18 i quali han deviato dalla verità, dicendo che la risurrezione è già avvenuta e sovvertono la fede di alcuni.
19 However, God's solid foundation-stone stands firm, and this is the seal on it: 'The Lord knows thosewho are his own' and 'Al who cal on the name of the Lord must avoid evil.'	19 Ma riman saldo il fondamento di Dio avendo questa impronta: « Il Signore conosce quelli che son suoi »; e « si ritiri dall'iniquità chi invoca il nome del Signore ».
20 Not al the dishes in a large house are made of gold and silver; some are made of wood orearthenware: the former are held in honour, the latter held cheap.	20 Del resto in una casa grande non ci son soltanto vasi d'oro e d'argento, ma anche di legno e di terra, alcuni destinati a nobili usi, altri ad ignobili:
21 If someone holds himself aloof from these faults I speak of, he wil be a vessel held in honour,dedicated and fit for the Master, ready for any good work.	21 se uno dunque si sarà serbato puro da tali cose, sarà come un vaso nobile, santificato, utile al Signore, adatto a qualunque opera buona.
22 Turn away from the passions of youth, concentrate on uprightness, faith, love and peace, in union withal those who cal on the Lord with a pure heart.	22 Fuggi le passioni giovanili, segui invece la giustizia, la fede, la carità, la pace con quelli che invocano il Signore con un cuore puro.
23 Avoid these foolish and undisciplined speculations, understanding that they only give rise to quarrels;	23 Evita le stolte e ineducate questioni, sapendo che generano liti.
24 and a servant of the Lord must not engage in quarrels, but must be kind to everyone, a good teacher,and patient.	24 Mentre il servo del Signore non deve litigare, ma essere affabile con tutti, pronto a insegnare, paziente,
25 He must be gentle when he corrects people who oppose him, in the hope that God may give them achange of mind so that they recognise the truth	25 riprendendo con modestia quelli che resistono alla verità, nella speranza che Dio li chiami a penitenza e a conoscere la verità,
26 and come to their senses, escaping the trap of the devil who made them his captives and subjectedthem to his will.	26 in modo che tornati in sè, si liberino dai lacci del diavolo, che li tiene schiavi delle sue voglie.
