2 Timothy 2

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 As for you, my dear son, take strength from the grace which is in Christ Jesus.	1 Tu adunque, figliuol mio, fortificati nella grazia che è in Cristo Gesù.
2 Pass on to reliable people what you have heard from me through many witnesses so that they in turn wilbe able to teach others.	2 E le cose che tu hai udite da me, in presenza di molti testimoni, commettile ad uomini fedeli, i quali sieno sufficienti ad ammaestrare ancora gli altri.
3 Bear with your share of difficulties, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.	3 Tu adunque soffri afflizioni, come buon guerriero di Gesù Cristo.
4 No one on active service involves himself in the affairs of civilian life, because he must win the approvalof the man who enlisted him;	4 Niuno che va alla guerra s’impaccia nelle faccende della vita, acciocchè piaccia a colui che l’ha soldato.
5 or again someone who enters an athletic contest wins only by competing in the sports -- a prize can bewon only by competing according to the rules;	5 Ed anche, se alcuno combatte, non è coronato, se non ha legittimamente combattuto.
6 and again, it is the farmer who works hard that has the first claim on any crop that is harvested.	6 Egli è convenevole che il lavoratore che fatica goda il primo i frutti.
7 Think over what I have said, and the Lord wil give you ful understanding.	7 Considera le cose che io dico; perciocchè io prego il Signore che ti dia intendimento in ogni cosa
8 Remember the gospel that I carry, 'Jesus Christ risen from the dead, sprung from the race of David';	8 Ricordati che Gesù Cristo è risuscitato da’ morti, il quale è della progenie di Davide, secondo il mio evangelo.
9 it is on account of this that I have to put up with suffering, even to being chained like a criminal. ButGod's message cannot be chained up.	9 Nel quale io soffro afflizione fino ad esser prigione ne’ legami, a guisa di malfattore; ma la parola di Dio non è prigione.
10 So I persevere for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they, too, may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.	10 Perciò io soffro ogni cosa per gli eletti, acciocchè essi ancora ottengano la salute, che è in Cristo Gesù, con gloria eterna.
11 Here is a saying that you can rely on: If we have died with him, then we shal live with him.	11 Certa è questa parola; che se moriamo con lui, con lui altresì viveremo.
12 If we persevere, then we shal reign with him. If we disown him, then he wil disown us.	12 Se perseveriamo, con lui altresì regneremo; se lo rinneghiamo, egli altresì ci rinnegherà.
13 If we are faithless, he is faithful still, for he cannot disown his own self.	13 Se siamo infedeli, egli pur rimane fedele; egli non può rinnegar sè stesso
14 Remind them of this; and tell them in the name of God that there must be no wrangling about words: althat this ever achieves is the destruction of those who are listening.	14 RAMMEMORA queste cose, protestando, nel cospetto di Dio, che non si contenda di parole, il che a nulla è utile, anzi è per sovvertir gli uditori.
15 Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who has no need to be ashamed,but who keeps the message of truth on a straight path.	15 Studiati di presentar te stesso approvato a Dio, operaio che non abbia ad esser confuso, che tagli dirittamente la parola della verità.
16 Have nothing to do with godless philosophical discussions -- they only lead further and further awayfrom true religion.	16 Ma schiva le profane vanità di voci; perciocchè procederanno innanzi a maggiore empietà.
17 Talk of this kind spreads corruption like gangrene, as in the case of Hymenaeus and Philetus,	17 E la parola di tali andrà rodendo, a guisa di gangrena; dei quali è Imeneo, e Fileto;
18 the men who have gone astray from the truth, claiming that the resurrection has already taken place.They are upsetting some people's faith.	18 i quali si sono sviati dalla verità; dicendo che la risurrezione è già avvenuta; e sovvertono la fede d’alcuni
19 However, God's solid foundation-stone stands firm, and this is the seal on it: 'The Lord knows thosewho are his own' and 'Al who cal on the name of the Lord must avoid evil.'	19 Ma pure il fondamento di Dio sta fermo, avendo questo suggello: Il Signore conosce que’ che son suoi, e: Ritraggasi dall’iniquità chiunque nomina il nome di Cristo.
20 Not al the dishes in a large house are made of gold and silver; some are made of wood orearthenware: the former are held in honour, the latter held cheap.	20 Or in una gran casa non vi sono sol vasi d’oro e d’argento, ma ancora di legno, e di terra; e gli uni sono ad onore, gli altri a disonore.
21 If someone holds himself aloof from these faults I speak of, he wil be a vessel held in honour,dedicated and fit for the Master, ready for any good work.	21 Se dunque alcuno si purifica da queste cose, sarà un vaso ad onore, santificato ed acconcio al servigio del Signore, preparato ad ogni buona opera
22 Turn away from the passions of youth, concentrate on uprightness, faith, love and peace, in union withal those who cal on the Lord with a pure heart.	22 Or fuggi gli appetiti giovanili, e procaccia giustizia, fede, carità, pace con quelli che di cuor puro invocano il Signore.
23 Avoid these foolish and undisciplined speculations, understanding that they only give rise to quarrels;	23 E schiva le quistioni stolte e scempie, sapendo che generano contese.
24 and a servant of the Lord must not engage in quarrels, but must be kind to everyone, a good teacher,and patient.	24 Or non bisogna che il servitor del Signore contenda; ma che sia benigno inverso tutti, atto e pronto ad insegnare, che comporti i mali;
25 He must be gentle when he corrects people who oppose him, in the hope that God may give them achange of mind so that they recognise the truth	25 che ammaestri con mansuetudine quelli che son disposti in contrario, per provar se talora Iddio desse loro di ravvedersi, per conoscer la verità;
26 and come to their senses, escaping the trap of the devil who made them his captives and subjectedthem to his will.	26 in maniera che, tornati a sana mente, uscissero dal laccio del diavolo, dal quale erano stati presi, per far la sua volontà
