2 Timothy 2

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 As for you, my dear son, take strength from the grace which is in Christ Jesus.	1 Tú, que eres mi hijo, fortalécete con la gracia de Cristo Jesús.
2 Pass on to reliable people what you have heard from me through many witnesses so that they in turn wilbe able to teach others.	2 Lo que oíste de mí y está corroborado por numerosos testigos, confíalo a hombres responsables que sean capaces de enseñar a otros.
3 Bear with your share of difficulties, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.	3 Comparte mis fatigas, como buen soldado de Jesucristo.
4 No one on active service involves himself in the affairs of civilian life, because he must win the approvalof the man who enlisted him;	4 El que está bajo las armas no se mezcla en los asuntos de la vida civil, para poder cumplir las órdenes de aquel que lo enroló.
5 or again someone who enters an athletic contest wins only by competing in the sports -- a prize can bewon only by competing according to the rules;	5 El atleta no recibe el premio si no lucha de acuerdo con las reglas.
6 and again, it is the farmer who works hard that has the first claim on any crop that is harvested.	6 Y el labrador que trabaja duramente es el primero que tiene derecho a recoger los frutos.
7 Think over what I have said, and the Lord wil give you ful understanding.	7 Piensa en lo que te digo, y el Señor, por su parte, te ayudará a comprenderlo todo.
8 Remember the gospel that I carry, 'Jesus Christ risen from the dead, sprung from the race of David';	8 Acuérdate de Jesucristo, que resucitó de entre los muertos y es descendiente de David. Esta es la Buena Noticia que yo predico,
9 it is on account of this that I have to put up with suffering, even to being chained like a criminal. ButGod's message cannot be chained up.	9 por la cual sufro y estoy encadenado como un malhechor. Pero la palabra de Dios no está encadenada.
10 So I persevere for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they, too, may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.	10 Por eso soporto estas pruebas por amor a los elegidos, a fin de que ellos también alcancen la salvación que está en Cristo Jesús y participen de la gloria eterna.
11 Here is a saying that you can rely on: If we have died with him, then we shal live with him.	11 Esta doctrina es digna de fe: Si hemos muerto con él, viviremos con él.
12 If we persevere, then we shal reign with him. If we disown him, then he wil disown us.	12 Si somos constantes, reinaremos con él. Si renegamos de él, él también renegará de nosotros.
13 If we are faithless, he is faithful still, for he cannot disown his own self.	13 Si somos infieles, él es fiel, porque no puede renegar de sí mismo.
14 Remind them of this; and tell them in the name of God that there must be no wrangling about words: althat this ever achieves is the destruction of those who are listening.	14 No dejes de enseñar estas cosas, ni de exhortar delante de Dios a que se eviten las discusiones inútiles, que sólo sirven para perdición de quienes las escuchan.
15 Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who has no need to be ashamed,but who keeps the message of truth on a straight path.	15 Esfuérzate en ser digno de la aprobación de Dios, presentándote ante él como un obrero que no tienen de qué avergonzarse y como un fiel dispensador de la Palabra de verdad.
16 Have nothing to do with godless philosophical discussions -- they only lead further and further awayfrom true religion.	16 Evita los discursos huecos y profanos, que no hacen más que acrecentar la impiedad
17 Talk of this kind spreads corruption like gangrene, as in the case of Hymenaeus and Philetus,	17 y se extienden como la gangrena. Así sucede con Himeneo y Fileto,
18 the men who have gone astray from the truth, claiming that the resurrection has already taken place.They are upsetting some people's faith.	18 que se apartaron de la verdad, afirmando que la resurrección ya que se ha realizado, y así han pervertido la fe de algunos.
19 However, God's solid foundation-stone stands firm, and this is the seal on it: 'The Lord knows thosewho are his own' and 'Al who cal on the name of the Lord must avoid evil.'	19 Pero el sólido fundamento que Dios ha establecido permanece inconmovible, y la inscripción que le sirve de sello dice: El Señor cono a los suyo, y: El que invoca el nombre del Señor, que se aparte de la iniquidad.
20 Not al the dishes in a large house are made of gold and silver; some are made of wood orearthenware: the former are held in honour, the latter held cheap.	20 En una casa grande, no todos los recipientes son de oro o de plata, sino que también hay recipientes de madera y de barro. Unos se destinan a usos nobles, y otros, a usos comunes.
21 If someone holds himself aloof from these faults I speak of, he wil be a vessel held in honour,dedicated and fit for the Master, ready for any good work.	21 Si alguien se mantiene libre de esos errores será como un recipiente noble y santificado, que presta utilidad a su dueño para toda clase de obras buenas.
22 Turn away from the passions of youth, concentrate on uprightness, faith, love and peace, in union withal those who cal on the Lord with a pure heart.	22 No cedas a los impulsos propios de la juventud y busca la justicia, la fe, el amor y la paz, junto con todos los que invocan al Señor con un corazón puro.
23 Avoid these foolish and undisciplined speculations, understanding that they only give rise to quarrels;	23 Evita las cuestiones estúpidas y carentes de sentido: ya sabes que provocan serios altercados.
24 and a servant of the Lord must not engage in quarrels, but must be kind to everyone, a good teacher,and patient.	24 El que sirve al Señor no debe tomar parte en querellas. Por el contrario, tienen que ser amable con todos, apto para enseñar y paciente en las pruebas.
25 He must be gentle when he corrects people who oppose him, in the hope that God may give them achange of mind so that they recognise the truth	25 Debe reprender con dulzura a los adversarios, teniendo en cuenta que Dios puede concederles la conversión y llevarlos al conocimiento de la verdad,
26 and come to their senses, escaping the trap of the devil who made them his captives and subjectedthem to his will.	26 haciéndolos reaccionar y librándolos de la trampa del demonio que los tiene cautivos al servicio de su voluntad.
