2 Timothy 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 As for you, my dear son, take strength from the grace which is in Christ Jesus.	1 Tú, pues, hijo mío, manténte fuerte en la gracia de Cristo Jesús;
2 Pass on to reliable people what you have heard from me through many witnesses so that they in turn wilbe able to teach others.	2 y cuanto me has oído en presencia de muchos testigos confíalo a hombres fieles, que sean capaces, a su vez, de instruir a otros.
3 Bear with your share of difficulties, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.	3 Soporta las fatigas conmigo, como un buen soldado de Cristo Jesús.
4 No one on active service involves himself in the affairs of civilian life, because he must win the approvalof the man who enlisted him;	4 Nadie que se dedica a la milicia se enreda en los negocios de la vida, si quiere complacer al que le ha alistado.
5 or again someone who enters an athletic contest wins only by competing in the sports -- a prize can bewon only by competing according to the rules;	5 Y lo mismo el atleta; no recibe la corona si no ha competido según el reglamento.
6 and again, it is the farmer who works hard that has the first claim on any crop that is harvested.	6 Y el labrador que trabaja es el primero que tiene derecho a percibir los frutos.
7 Think over what I have said, and the Lord wil give you ful understanding.	7 Entiende lo que quiero decirte, pues el Señor te dará la inteligencia de todo.
8 Remember the gospel that I carry, 'Jesus Christ risen from the dead, sprung from the race of David';	8 Acuérdate de Jesucristo, resucitado de entre los muertos, descendiente de David, según mi Evangelio;
9 it is on account of this that I have to put up with suffering, even to being chained like a criminal. ButGod's message cannot be chained up.	9 por él estoy sufriendo hasta llevar cadenas como un malhechor; pero la Palabra de Dios no está encadenada.
10 So I persevere for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they, too, may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.	10 Por esto todo lo soporto por los elegidos, para que también ellos alcancen la salvación que está en Cristo Jesús con la gloria eterna.
11 Here is a saying that you can rely on: If we have died with him, then we shal live with him.	11 Es cierta esta afirmación: Si hemos muerto con él, también viveremos con él;
12 If we persevere, then we shal reign with him. If we disown him, then he wil disown us.	12 si nos mantenemos firmes, también reinaremos con él; si le negamos, también él nos negará;
13 If we are faithless, he is faithful still, for he cannot disown his own self.	13 si somos infieles, él permanece fiel, pues no puede negarse a sí mismo.
14 Remind them of this; and tell them in the name of God that there must be no wrangling about words: althat this ever achieves is the destruction of those who are listening.	14 Esto has de enseñar; y conjura en presencia de Dios que se eviten las discusiones de palabras, que no sirven para nada, si no es para perdición de los que las oyen.
15 Make every effort to present yourself before God as a proven worker who has no need to be ashamed,but who keeps the message of truth on a straight path.	15 Procura cuidadosamente presentarte ante Dios como hombre probado, como obrero que no tiene por qué avergonzarse, como fiel distribuidor de la Palabra de la verdad.
16 Have nothing to do with godless philosophical discussions -- they only lead further and further awayfrom true religion.	16 Evita las palabrerías profanas, pues los que a ellas se dan crecerán cada vez más en impiedad,
17 Talk of this kind spreads corruption like gangrene, as in the case of Hymenaeus and Philetus,	17 y su palabra irá cundiendo como gangrena. Himeneo y Fileto son de éstos:
18 the men who have gone astray from the truth, claiming that the resurrection has already taken place.They are upsetting some people's faith.	18 se han desviado de la verdad al afirmar que la resurrección ya ha sucedido; y pervierten la fe de algunos.
19 However, God's solid foundation-stone stands firm, and this is the seal on it: 'The Lord knows thosewho are his own' and 'Al who cal on the name of the Lord must avoid evil.'	19 Sin embargo el sólido fundamento puesto por Dios se mantiene firme, marcado con este sello: El Señor conoce a los que son suyos; y: Apártese de la iniquidad todo el que pronuncia el nombre del Señor.
20 Not al the dishes in a large house are made of gold and silver; some are made of wood orearthenware: the former are held in honour, the latter held cheap.	20 En una casa grande no hay solamente utensilios de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro; y unos son para usos nobles y otros para usos viles.
21 If someone holds himself aloof from these faults I speak of, he wil be a vessel held in honour,dedicated and fit for the Master, ready for any good work.	21 Si, pues, alguno se mantiene limpio de estas faltas, será un utensilio para uso noble, santificado y útil para su Dueño, dispuesto para toda obra buena.
22 Turn away from the passions of youth, concentrate on uprightness, faith, love and peace, in union withal those who cal on the Lord with a pure heart.	22 Huye de las pasiones juveniles. Vete al alcance de la justicia, de la fe, de la caridad, de la paz, en unión de los que invocan al Señor con corazón puro.
23 Avoid these foolish and undisciplined speculations, understanding that they only give rise to quarrels;	23 Evita las discusiones necias y estúpidas; tú sabes bien que engrendran altercados.
24 and a servant of the Lord must not engage in quarrels, but must be kind to everyone, a good teacher,and patient.	24 Y a un siervo del Señor no le conviene altercar, sino ser amable, con todos, pronto a enseñar, sufrido,
25 He must be gentle when he corrects people who oppose him, in the hope that God may give them achange of mind so that they recognise the truth	25 y que corrija con mansedumbre a los adversarios, por si Dios les otorga la conversión que les haga conocer plenamente la verdad,
26 and come to their senses, escaping the trap of the devil who made them his captives and subjectedthem to his will.	26 y volver al buen sentido, librándose de los lazos del Diablo que los tiene cautivos, rendidos a su voluntad.
