Joshua 5

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 When al the kings of the Amorites living to westward across the Jordan, and al the kings of theCanaanites living on the seaboard, heard that Yahweh had dried up the waters of the Jordan before theIsraelites until they had crossed, their hearts failed and they lost al courage to resist the Israelites.	1 Amikor aztán meghallotta az amoriták összes királya, akik a Jordánon túl, a nyugati oldalon laktak, valamint a kánaániak összes királya, akik a Nagy-tenger közelében levő helyeken laktak, hogy az Úr kiszárította a Jordán habjait Izrael fiai előtt, míg át nem mentek, elcsüggedt a szívük, nem maradt bátorság bennük, és féltek Izrael fiainak bejövetelétől.
2 At this time Yahweh said to Joshua, 'Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites again (a secondtime).	2 Abban az időben azt mondta az Úr Józsuénak: »Csinálj magadnak kőkéseket, s metéld ismét körül Izrael fiait.«
3 Joshua made flint knives and circumcised the Israelites on the Hil of Foreskins.	3 Ő megtette, amit az Úr parancsolt és az Előbőrök halmán körülmetélte Izrael fiait.
4 The reason why Joshua circumcised them was this. Al the males of the people who had come out ofEgypt of age to bear arms had died in the desert on their journey after leaving Egypt.	4 Ez volt az oka, hogy ismét körülmetélte őket: Abból az egész népből, amely Egyiptomból kijött, minden hadviselő férfi meghalt a pusztában a hosszú bolyongásban.
5 Now, al the people who came out had been circumcised; but none of those born in the desert, duringthe journey, after leaving Egypt, had been circumcised;	5 Ezek mindnyájan körülmetéltek voltak. Az a nép azonban, amely a pusztában született, körülmetéletlen volt.
6 for the Israelites walked the desert for forty years, until the whole nation had died out, that is, the menwho had come out of Egypt of age to bear arms; they had not obeyed the voice of Yahweh, and Yahweh hadsworn to them never to let them see the land which he had sworn to their ancestors that he would give us, a landflowing with milk and honey.	6 Negyven évig vándoroltak ugyanis Izrael fiai, amíg meg nem halt minden harcos, aki nem hallgatott az Úr szavára, és akiknek megesküdött, hogy nem mutatja meg nekik azt a földet, amelyről esküvel ígérte atyáiknak, hogy azt a tejjel-mézzel folyó földet nekik adja.
7 But in place of these he set their sons, and these were the ones whom Joshua circumcised: they wereuncircumcised because they had not been circumcised during the journey.	7 Ezeknek az apáknak a helyébe fiaik léptek, s ezeket metélte körül Józsue, mert ezeknek megvolt az előbőrük, úgy ahogy megszülettek és senki sem metélte körül őket az úton.
8 When the circumcising of the whole nation was finished, they stayed resting in the camp till they werewel again.	8 Amikor aztán valamennyien körülmetélkedtek, mindaddig azon a táborhelyen maradtak, amíg meg nem gyógyultak.
9 Yahweh then said to Joshua, 'Today I have taken the shame of Egypt away from you.' Hence, the placehas been cal ed Gilgal ever since.	9 Ekkor azt mondta az Úr Józsuénak: »Ma vettem le rólatok Egyiptom gyalázatát.« Ezért hívják ezt a helyet Gilgálnak mind a mai napig.
10 The Israelites pitched their camp at Gilgal and kept the Passover there on the fourteenth day of themonth, at evening, in the plain of Jericho.	10 Miközben Izrael fiai Gilgálban tartózkodtak, a hónap tizennegyedik napján, estefelé, Jerikó mezőségén elkészítették a pászkát
11 On the very next day after the Passover, they ate what the land produced, unleavened bread androasted ears of corn.	11 és másnap az ország terméséből ettek kovásztalan kenyeret és ugyanazon a napon árpadarát.
12 The manna stopped the day after they had eaten the produce of the land. The Israelites from that yearonwards ate the produce of Canaan and had no more manna.	12 Miután pedig ettek a föld terméséből, megszűnt a manna és Izrael fiai nem éltek többé ezzel az eledellel, hanem Kánaán földjének azévi terméséből ettek.
13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him, grasping anaked sword. Joshua walked towards him and said to him, 'Are you on our side or on that of our enemies?'	13 Amikor aztán egyszer Józsue Jerikó városának mezején tartózkodott, felemelte szemét, és látta, hogy egy férfi áll előtte, aki kivont kardot tart. Erre odament hozzá és megkérdezte: »Hozzánk tartozol, vagy az ellenséghez?«
14 He replied, 'On neither side. I have come now as the captain of the army of Yahweh.' Joshua fel on hisface to the ground, worshipping him, and said, 'What has my Lord to say to his servant?'	14 Az így felelt: »Egyikhez sem: az Úr hadseregének a fejedelme vagyok és éppen most jöttem.«
15 The captain of the army of Yahweh answered Joshua, 'Take your sandals off your feet, for the placewhere you are standing is holy.' And Joshua did so.	15 Józsue arccal a földre borult, meghajtotta magát és azt mondta: »Mi beszélni valója van az én Uramnak az ő szolgájával?« Az Úr seregének vezére erre így szólt Józsuéhoz: »Oldd le lábadról sarudat, mert a hely, amelyen állsz, szent!« Erre Józsue úgy tett, ahogy az megparancsolta neki.
