1 Now Joshua had grown old and advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, 'You are now old andadvanced in years, yet there is stil a great deal of territory left to be taken possession of.	1 Giosuè era vecchio e avanzato in età, e il Signore gli disse: « Tu sei di ventato vecchio e attempato, ed è rima sta molta terra non ancor divisa a sorte:
2 This is al the territory left: 'Al the districts of the Philistines and the whole country of the Geshurites;	2 tutta la Galilea, il paese dei Filistei, tutto quello di Gessuri,
3 from the Shihor, facing Egypt, to the frontier of Ekron in the north, is reckoned as Canaanite territory.The five rulers of the Philistines have their seats at Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron, respectively; theAvvites are in	3 dal torbido fiume che bagna l'Egitto sino ai confini di Accaron, verso settentrione; la terra di Canaan che è divisa tra i cinque re Filistei, quel di Gaza, quel di Azoto, quel di Ascalon, quel di Get, e quello di Accaron;
4 the south. The entire territory of the Canaanites, and Mearah which belongs to the Sidonians, as far asAphekah and as far as the frontier of the Amorites;	4 il mezzodì, ove sono gli Evei; tutta la terra di Canaan e Maara dei Sidoni, sino ad Afeca e ai confini degli Amorrei
5 and then the country of the Gebalites with the entire Lebanon eastwards from Baal-Gad at the foot ofMount Hermon to the Pass of Hamath.	5 e ai paesi loro vicini; la contrada del Libano verso levante, da Baalgad sotto il monte Ermon fino all'entrata di Emal;
6 'All who live in the highlands from the Lebanon to Misrephoth in the west -- al the Sidonians -- I myselfshall dispossess before the Israelites. Al you have to do is to distribute the territory as a heritage for theIsraelites as I have ordered you.	6 la terra di quelli che abitano le montagne, dal Libano sino alle acque di Maserefot, e tutti i Sidoni. Ci penserò io a sterminarli dal cospetto dei figli d'Israele; ma intanto deve entrare tutto nella parte dell'eredità d'Israele, come ti ho comandato.
7 The time has come to divide this territory as a heritage between the nine tribes and the half-tribe ofManasseh: from the Jordan as far as the Great Sea in the west, you must give it them; the Great Sea wil betheir limit.'	7 Or dunque distribuisca la terra da possedersi dalle nove tribù e dalla mezza tribù di Manasse,
8 As regards the other half-tribe of Manasseh, this and the Reubenites and Gadites had already receivedtheir heritage, given them by Moses on the further, eastern side of the Jordan, the one which Moses, servant ofYahweh, had already given them:	8 che l'altra mezza tribù e Ruben e Gad presero già possesso della terra che diede loro Mosè, servo del Signore, di là dal Giordano, ad oriente,
9 The country onwards from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the town in the bottom of theval ey and the entire tableland from Medeba to Dibon;	9 da Aroer, situata sulla riva del torrente Arnon, la metà della valle e tutta la campagna di Medaba, sino a Dibon,
10 al the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, to the frontier of theAmmonites;	10 e tutte le città di Sehon re degli Amorrei, che regnò in sebon, sino ai confini dei figli di Ammon,
11 then Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites with the whole Hermon range and thewhole of Bashan as far as Salecah;	11 e Galaad e la frontiera di Gessuri e di bacati, e tutto il monte Ermon, e tutto il Basan fino a Saleca,
12 and in Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, and was the lastof the survivors of the Rephaim. Moses had conquered and dispossessed these two kings.	12 tutto il regno di Og in Basan, il quale regnò in Astarot e in Drai e fu l'ultimo dei Refaim. Mosè percosse e distrusse costoro;
13 The Israelites did not, however, dispossess either the Geshurites or the Maacathites, hence Geshurand Maacah survive inside Israel even today.	13 ma i figli d'Israele non vollero disperdere quei di Gessuri e di Macati, i quali dimorano in mezzo ad Israele fino al presente.
14 To the tribe of Levi alone no heritage was given; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, as he hadtold him.	14 In quanto alla tribù di Levi, Mosè non le diede al cun possesso; perchè i sacrifizi e le vittime del Signore Dio d'Israele sono la sua eredità, come le ha detto il Signore.
15 Moses had given the tribe of the sons of Reuben a share by clans.	15 Mosè diede la sua porzione alla tribù dei figli di Ruben, secondo le loro famiglie.
16 Thus, their territory was the entire tableland from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the townin the bottom of the val ey, as far as Medeba,	16 I loro confini furono da Aroer, si tuata sulla riva del torrente Arnon, il mezzo della valle dello stesso torrente, tutta la pianura che va fino a Medaba,
17 Heshbon with all the towns on the tableland: Dibon, Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal-Meon,	17 Esebon con tutti i suoi villaggi della pianura, Dibon, Bamotbaal, la città di Baalmaon,
18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,	18 Gassa, Cedimot, Mefaat,
19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah and, in the highlands of the Arabah, Zereth-Shahar;	19 Cariataim, Sabama, Saratasar nel monte ella valle,
20 Beth-Peor, the watered foothills of Mount Pisgah, Beth-ha-Jeshimoth,	20 Betfogor, Asedot, Fasga, Betiesimot;
21 al the towns on the tableland and the entire kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reignedin Heshbon; he had been defeated by Moses, and with him the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur andReba, vassals of Sihon, formerly living in the country.	21 tutte le città della pianura; tutti i regni di Sehon re degli Amorrei, che regnò in Esebon e da Mosè fu percosso coi principi di Madian, Evi, Recem, Sur, Hur, Rebe, capitani di Sehon, abitanti di quel paese.
22 As regards Balaam son of Beor, the soothsayer, the Israelites had put him to the sword with thosewhom they had kil ed.	22 I figli d'Israele fecero morire di spada con tuttu gli altri uccisi, anche l'indovino Balaari figlio di Beor.
23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the Jordan and its territory. Such was the heritage of the sons ofReuben, by clans, with the towns and vil ages belonging to them.	23 Il Giordano fu il confine dei figli di Ruben. Queste sono le città e i villaggi dati in possesso ai Rubeniti, secondo le loro famiglie.
24 Moses had given the tribe of Gad, the sons of Gad, a share by clans.	24 Mosè diede anche alla tribù di Gad e ai di lei figli un territorio di cui ecco le parti:
25 Their territory was Jazer, al the towns of Gilead, half the country of the Ammonites as far as Aroerfacing Rabbah,	25 Iaser, tutte le città di Galaad, la metà del paese dei figli d'Ammon, sino ad Aroer che è di faccia a Rabba;

27 and in the val ey: Beth-Haram, Beth-Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon -- the rest of the kingdom of Sihonking of Heshbon -- the Jordan and the territory running to the tip of the Sea of Chinneroth, on the further, easternside of the Jordan.	27 e, nella valle, Betaran, Betnemra, Socot, Safon, il resto del regno di Sehon re di Esebon: il suo confine è pure il Giordano sino all'estremità del mare di Ceneret, al di là, ad oriente.
28 Such was the heritage of the sons of Gad, by clans, with their towns and vil ages belonging to them.	28 Ecco il territorio, le città, i villaggi dei figli di Gad, secondo le loro famiglie.
29 Moses had given the half-tribe of Manasseh a share by clans.	29 Diede un territorio anche alla mezza tribù di Manasse e ai figli di lei secondo ie loro famiglie;
30 Their territory, starting from Mahanaim, was the whole of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og king ofBashan, all the Encampments of Jair in Bashan: sixty towns.	30 eccone i confini: da Manaim, tutto Basan e tutti i regni di Og re di Basan, tutti i villaggi di Iair nel Basan, sessanta città;
31 Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, were al otted to the sons ofMachir son of Manasseh, to half of the sons of Machir, by clans.	31 da metà di Galaad, Astarot, ed Edrai, città del regno di Og nel Basan, furono dei figli di Machir figlio di Manasse, toccarono alla metà dei figli di Machir, secondo le loro famiglie.
32 This was what Moses had conferred in heritage on the Plains of Moab on the further, eastern side ofthe Jordan opposite Jericho.	32 Mosè divise questi territori nelle pianure di Moab, oltre il Giordano, di faccia a Gerico, ad oriente.
33 To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses gave no heritage; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, ashe had told him.	33 Ma alla tribù di Levi non diede alcun possesso; perchè il Signore Dio d'Israele è egli stesso il suo possesso, come le disse.
