1 Now Joshua had grown old and advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, 'You are now old andadvanced in years, yet there is stil a great deal of territory left to be taken possession of.	1 - Giosuè era vecchio e molto innanzi nell'età, quando il Signore gli disse: «Sei invecchiato e molto avanzato negli anni e un territorio assai vasto rimane ancora da dividere secondo la sorte:
2 This is al the territory left: 'Al the districts of the Philistines and the whole country of the Geshurites;	2 cioè tutta la Galilea, il paese dei Filistei e tutto il territorio di Gessuri,
3 from the Shihor, facing Egypt, to the frontier of Ekron in the north, is reckoned as Canaanite territory.The five rulers of the Philistines have their seats at Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron, respectively; theAvvites are in	3 dal fiume torbido che irriga l'Egitto, fino ai confini di Accaron verso settentrione; tutta la terra di Canaan che è divisa nei cinque principati Filistei di Gaza, di Azoto, di Ascalon, di Get e di Accaron,

The entire territory of the Canaanites, and Mearah which belongs to the Sidonians, as far asAphekah and as far as the frontier of the Amorites;	4 a mezzogiorno dei quali vi sono gli Evei; inoltre tutta la terra di Canaan e di Maara dei Sidonii fino ad Afeca e alla frontiera dell'Amorreo
5 and then the country of the Gebalites with the entire Lebanon eastwards from Baal-Gad at the foot ofMount Hermon to the Pass of Hamath.	5 e ai suoi confini. Parimenti la regione del Libano verso oriente di Baalgad ai piedi del monte Ermon fino all'ingresso di Emat,
6 'All who live in the highlands from the Lebanon to Misrephoth in the west -- al the Sidonians -- I myselfshall dispossess before the Israelites. Al you have to do is to distribute the territory as a heritage for theIsraelites as I have ordered you.	6 e il territorio di quanti abitano sulle montagne del Libano fino alle acque di Maserefot compresi tutti i Sidonii. Io sono colui che li sterminerò dalla faccia dei figli d'Israele. Assegnane pertanto il territorio ai figli d'Israele come te l'ho comandato
7 The time has come to divide this territory as a heritage between the nine tribes and the half-tribe ofManasseh: from the Jordan as far as the Great Sea in the west, you must give it them; the Great Sea wil betheir limit.'	7 e ora dividi la regione e assegnala in possesso alle nove tribù e alla metà della tribù di Manasse;
8 As regards the other half-tribe of Manasseh, this and the Reubenites and Gadites had already receivedtheir heritage, given them by Moses on the further, eastern side of the Jordan, the one which Moses, servant ofYahweh, had already given them:	8 mentre con l'altra metà Ruben e Gad possedettero la terra ad essi assegnata da Mosè servo del Signore al di là del corso del Giordano ad oriente,
9 The country onwards from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the town in the bottom of theval ey and the entire tableland from Medeba to Dibon;	9 da Aroer, posta in riva al torrente Arnon a cominciare dal mezzo della valle fino a tutte le pianure di Medaba e di Dibon
10 al the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, to the frontier of theAmmonites;	10 e tutte le città di Seon re degli Amorrei che regnò in Esebon fino ai confini dei figliuoli di Ammon;
11 then Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites with the whole Hermon range and thewhole of Bashan as far as Salecah;	11 Galaad e la frontiera di Gessuri e di Macati e tutto il monte Ermon e tutto il Basan fino a Saleca,
12 and in Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, and was the lastof the survivors of the Rephaim. Moses had conquered and dispossessed these two kings.	12 vale a dire tutto il regno di Og in Basan, che regnò in Astarot e in Edrai e che fu l'ultimo superstite della stirpe dei Rafaim; i quali tutti furon battuti e distrutti da Mosè,
13 The Israelites did not, however, dispossess either the Geshurites or the Maacathites, hence Geshurand Maacah survive inside Israel even today.	13 mentre i figli di Israele non distrussero quei di Gessuri e di Macati, che continuarono ad abitare in mezzo ad Israele fino ad oggi.
14 To the tribe of Levi alone no heritage was given; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, as he hadtold him.	14 Alla tribù di Levi però non assegnò alcun possedimento, ma concesse i sacrifici e le vittime del Signore Dio d'Israele; questa è la sua eredità come fu detto ad essa.
15 Moses had given the tribe of the sons of Reuben a share by clans.	15 Mosè dunque aveva assegnato alla tribù dei figli di Ruben il suo possedimento secondo le rispettive famiglie.
16 Thus, their territory was the entire tableland from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the townin the bottom of the val ey, as far as Medeba,	16 Le loro frontiere a cominciare da Aroer, che è posta sulla riva del torrente Arnon e a metà della valle dello stesso torrente, comprendevano tutta la pianura che si estende fino a Medaba,
17 Heshbon with all the towns on the tableland: Dibon, Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal-Meon,	17 come pure Esebon e tutti i villaggi loro che sono nel piano; parimenti Dibon, Bamotbaal, le città di Baalmon,
18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,	18 Jassa, Cedimot, Mefaat,
19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah and, in the highlands of the Arabah, Zereth-Shahar;	19 Cariataim, Sabama, Saratasar sulla montagna della convalle,
20 Beth-Peor, the watered foothills of Mount Pisgah, Beth-ha-Jeshimoth,	20 Betfogor, Asedot, Fasga, Betiesimot
21 al the towns on the tableland and the entire kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reignedin Heshbon; he had been defeated by Moses, and with him the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur andReba, vassals of Sihon, formerly living in the country.	21 e tutte le città del piano e tutto il regno di Seon re Amorreo, che regnò in Esebon e che Mosè abbattè coi principi di Madian, Evi, Recem, Sur, Ur, Rebe, tutti capitani di Seon e abitanti del paese.
22 As regards Balaam son of Beor, the soothsayer, the Israelites had put him to the sword with thosewhom they had kil ed.	22 I figli d'Israele uccisero pure insieme a tutti gli altri Balaam l'indovino, figlio di Beor.
23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the Jordan and its territory. Such was the heritage of the sons ofReuben, by clans, with the towns and vil ages belonging to them.	23 La frontiera dei figli di Ruben divenne il Giordano e questo è il possedimento dei Rubeniti secondo le loro famiglie, le loro città e i loro villaggi.
24 Moses had given the tribe of Gad, the sons of Gad, a share by clans.	24 Mosè assegnò alla tribù di Gad e ai suoi figli, secondo le loro famiglie, il possedimento qui descritto;
25 Their territory was Jazer, al the towns of Gilead, half the country of the Ammonites as far as Aroerfacing Rabbah,	25 ebbero per confine Jaser e tutte le città di Galaad, la metà del paese dei figli di Ammon fino ad Aroer posta contro Rabba.
26 and from Heshbon to Ramath-Mizpeh and Betonim; from Mahanaim as far as the territory of Lo-Debar,	26 Da Esebon fino a Ramot, Masfe e Betonim e da Manaim fino ai confini di Dabir.
27 and in the val ey: Beth-Haram, Beth-Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon -- the rest of the kingdom of Sihonking of Heshbon -- the Jordan and the territory running to the tip of the Sea of Chinneroth, on the further, easternside of the Jordan.	27 Nella valle poi possedettero anche Betaran, Betnemra, Socot e Safon, il rimanente del regno di Seon re di Esebon. Anche per Gad era confine il Giordano fino all'estremità del mare di Ceneret dall'altra parte del Giordano ad oriente.
28 Such was the heritage of the sons of Gad, by clans, with their towns and vil ages belonging to them.	28 Questo è il possedimento di Gad secondo le sue famiglie, le città e le borgate.
29 Moses had given the half-tribe of Manasseh a share by clans.	29 A metà della tribù di Manasse e ai suoi figli, secondo le rispettive famiglie, diede un possedimento,
30 Their territory, starting from Mahanaim, was the whole of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og king ofBashan, all the Encampments of Jair in Bashan: sixty towns.	30 che incominciava da Manaim e comprendeva tutto il Basan e tutti i regni di Og re di Basan e tutti i villaggi di Jair, che sono in tutto sessanta castelli in Basan;
31 Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, were al otted to the sons ofMachir son of Manasseh, to half of the sons of Machir, by clans.	31 e metà del paese di Galaad, e Astarot e Edrai, città del regno di Og in Basan, toccarono ai figli di Machir figlio di Manasse, cioè a una metà dei figli di Machir secondo le loro famiglie.
32 This was what Moses had conferred in heritage on the Plains of Moab on the further, eastern side ofthe Jordan opposite Jericho.	32 Tali sono i possedimenti da Mosè distribuiti quando era nelle pianure di Moab, al di là del Giordano di fronte a Gerico verso oriente.
33 To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses gave no heritage; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, ashe had told him.	33 Alla tribù di Levi però non diede alcun possedimento, perchè il Dio d'Israele è sua eredità, come egli le disse.
