1 Now Joshua had grown old and advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, 'You are now old andadvanced in years, yet there is stil a great deal of territory left to be taken possession of.	1 Giosuè era ormai vecchio e avanti negli anni, e il Signore gli disse: «Tu sei vecchio e avanti negli anni, mentre rimane molto territorio da occupare.
2 This is al the territory left: 'Al the districts of the Philistines and the whole country of the Geshurites;	2 Queste sono le terre rimaste: tutti i distretti dei Filistei e tutto il territorio dei Ghesuriti,
3 from the Shihor, facing Egypt, to the frontier of Ekron in the north, is reckoned as Canaanite territory.The five rulers of the Philistines have their seats at Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron, respectively; theAvvites are in	3 dal Sicor, di fronte all’Egitto, fino al territorio di Ekron, a settentrione, zona considerata cananea; i cinque principati dei Filistei – Gaza, Asdod, Àscalon, Gat ed Ekron – e gli Avviti
4 the south. The entire territory of the Canaanites, and Mearah which belongs to the Sidonians, as far asAphekah and as far as the frontier of the Amorites;	4 nel meridione; tutto il territorio dei Cananei, da Ara, che è di quelli di Sidone, fino ad Afek, fino al confine degli Amorrei;
5 and then the country of the Gebalites with the entire Lebanon eastwards from Baal-Gad at the foot ofMount Hermon to the Pass of Hamath.	5 il territorio di quelli di Biblo e tutto il Libano orientale, da Baal-Gad ai piedi del monte Ermon fino all’ingresso di Camat.
6 'All who live in the highlands from the Lebanon to Misrephoth in the west -- al the Sidonians -- I myselfshall dispossess before the Israelites. Al you have to do is to distribute the territory as a heritage for theIsraelites as I have ordered you.	6 Io stesso scaccerò davanti agli Israeliti tutti gli abitanti delle montagne dal Libano a Misrefot-Màim, e tutti quelli di Sidone. Tu dovrai solo tirare a sorte l’eredità per Israele, come ti ho comandato.
7 The time has come to divide this territory as a heritage between the nine tribes and the half-tribe ofManasseh: from the Jordan as far as the Great Sea in the west, you must give it them; the Great Sea wil betheir limit.'	7 Ora dunque, distribuisci questa terra in eredità alle nove tribù e a metà della tribù di Manasse».
8 As regards the other half-tribe of Manasseh, this and the Reubenites and Gadites had already receivedtheir heritage, given them by Moses on the further, eastern side of the Jordan, the one which Moses, servant ofYahweh, had already given them:	8 Insieme con l’altra metà di Manasse, i Rubeniti e i Gaditi avevano ricevuto la loro parte di eredità, che Mosè aveva assegnato loro al di là del Giordano, a oriente, come aveva concesso loro Mosè, servo del Signore:
9 The country onwards from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the town in the bottom of theval ey and the entire tableland from Medeba to Dibon;	9 da Aroèr, che è sulla riva del torrente Arnon, e dalla città in fondovalle, tutta la pianura di Màdaba fino a Dibon;
10 al the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, to the frontier of theAmmonites;	10 tutte le città di Sicon, re degli Amorrei, che regnava a Chesbon, fino al confine degli Ammoniti;
11 then Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites with the whole Hermon range and thewhole of Bashan as far as Salecah;	11 Gàlaad, il territorio dei Ghesuriti e dei Maacatiti, tutto il monte Ermon e tutto Basan fino a Salca;
12 and in Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, and was the lastof the survivors of the Rephaim. Moses had conquered and dispossessed these two kings.	12 in Basan tutto il regno di Og, che regnava ad Astaròt e a Edrei, uno degli ultimi figli dei Refaìm, che Mosè aveva debellato e spodestato.
13 The Israelites did not, however, dispossess either the Geshurites or the Maacathites, hence Geshurand Maacah survive inside Israel even today.	13 Tuttavia gli Israeliti non avevano scacciato i Ghesuriti e i Maacatiti; infatti le popolazioni di Ghesur e Maacà vivono in mezzo a Israele ancora oggi.
14 To the tribe of Levi alone no heritage was given; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, as he hadtold him.	14 Soltanto alla tribù di Levi non aveva assegnato un’eredità: i sacrifici consumati dal fuoco per il Signore, Dio d’Israele, sono la sua eredità, come aveva detto loro.
15 Moses had given the tribe of the sons of Reuben a share by clans.	15 Mosè aveva assegnato alla tribù dei figli di Ruben una parte secondo i loro casati,
16 Thus, their territory was the entire tableland from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the townin the bottom of the val ey, as far as Medeba,	16 ed essi ebbero il territorio da Aroèr, che è sulla riva del torrente Arnon, e dalla città in fondovalle, tutta la pianura presso Màdaba,
17 Heshbon with all the towns on the tableland: Dibon, Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal-Meon,	17 Chesbon e tutte le sue città che sono nella pianura, Dibon, Bamòt-Baal, Bet-Baal-Meon,
18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,	18 Iaas, Kedemòt, Mefàat,
19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah and, in the highlands of the Arabah, Zereth-Shahar;	19 Kiriatàim, Sibma e Seret-Hassacàr sulle montagne che dominano la valle,
20 Beth-Peor, the watered foothills of Mount Pisgah, Beth-ha-Jeshimoth,	20 Bet-Peor, le pendici del Pisga, Bet-Iesimòt,
21 al the towns on the tableland and the entire kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reignedin Heshbon; he had been defeated by Moses, and with him the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur andReba, vassals of Sihon, formerly living in the country.	21 tutte le città della pianura, tutto il regno di Sicon, re degli Amorrei, che regnava a Chesbon e che Mosè aveva sconfitto insieme con i capi dei Madianiti, vassalli di Sicon, che abitavano nella regione: Evì, Rekem, Sur, Cur e Reba.
22 As regards Balaam son of Beor, the soothsayer, the Israelites had put him to the sword with thosewhom they had kil ed.	22 Quanto a Balaam, figlio di Beor, l’indovino, gli Israeliti lo uccisero di spada insieme a quelli che avevano trafitto.
23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the Jordan and its territory. Such was the heritage of the sons ofReuben, by clans, with the towns and vil ages belonging to them.	23 Il territorio dei Rubeniti comprende poi il Giordano e il territorio limitrofo. Questa è l’eredità dei Rubeniti secondo i loro casati: le città con i loro villaggi.
24 Moses had given the tribe of Gad, the sons of Gad, a share by clans.	24 Mosè poi aveva dato una parte alla tribù di Gad, ai figli di Gad, secondo i loro casati,
25 Their territory was Jazer, al the towns of Gilead, half the country of the Ammonites as far as Aroerfacing Rabbah,	25 ed essi ebbero il territorio di Iazer e tutte le città di Gàlaad e metà del territorio degli Ammoniti fino ad Aroèr, che è di fronte a Rabbà,
26 and from Heshbon to Ramath-Mizpeh and Betonim; from Mahanaim as far as the territory of Lo-Debar,	26 e da Chesbon fino a Ramat-Mispe e Betonìm e da Macanàim fino al territorio di Lodebàr;
27 and in the val ey: Beth-Haram, Beth-Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon -- the rest of the kingdom of Sihonking of Heshbon -- the Jordan and the territory running to the tip of the Sea of Chinneroth, on the further, easternside of the Jordan.	27 nella valle: Bet-Aram e Bet-Nimra, Succot e Safon, il resto del regno di Sicon, re di Chesbon. Il Giordano ne era il confine sino all’estremità del mare di Chinneret oltre il Giordano, a oriente.
28 Such was the heritage of the sons of Gad, by clans, with their towns and vil ages belonging to them.	28 Questa è l’eredità dei figli di Gad secondo i loro casati: le città con i loro villaggi.
29 Moses had given the half-tribe of Manasseh a share by clans.	29 Mosè aveva assegnato a metà della tribù dei figli di Manasse, secondo i loro casati,
30 Their territory, starting from Mahanaim, was the whole of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og king ofBashan, all the Encampments of Jair in Bashan: sixty towns.	30 il seguente territorio che appartenne a loro: da Macanàim, tutto il Basan, tutto il regno di Og, re di Basan, e tutti i villaggi di Iair, che sono in Basan: sessanta città.
31 Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, were al otted to the sons ofMachir son of Manasseh, to half of the sons of Machir, by clans.	31 La metà di Gàlaad, Astaròt ed Edrei, città del regno di Og in Basan, furono date ai figli di Machir, figlio di Manasse, cioè alla metà dei figli di Machir, secondo i loro casati.
32 This was what Moses had conferred in heritage on the Plains of Moab on the further, eastern side ofthe Jordan opposite Jericho.	32 Questo è quanto distribuì Mosè nelle steppe di Moab, oltre il Giordano di Gerico, a oriente.
33 To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses gave no heritage; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, ashe had told him.	33 Alla tribù di Levi, però, Mosè non aveva assegnato alcuna eredità: il Signore, Dio d’Israele, è la loro eredità, come aveva detto loro.
