NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Now Joshua had grown old and advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, 'You are now old andadvanced in years, yet there is stil a great deal of territory left to be taken possession of.	1 Or Josué était devenu vieux et avancé en âge. Yahvé lui dit: "Te voilà vieux, avancé en âge, etpourtant il reste à prendre possession d'un très grand pays.
2 This is al the territory left: 'Al the districts of the Philistines and the whole country of the Geshurites;	2 Voici tout le pays qui reste: "Tous les districts des Philistins et tout le pays des Geshurites;
3 from the Shihor, facing Egypt, to the frontier of Ekron in the north, is reckoned as Canaanite territory.The five rulers of the Philistines have their seats at Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron, respectively; theAvvites are in	3 depuis le Shihor qui fait face à l'Egypte jusqu'à la frontière d'Eqrôn au nord, c'est compté commecananéen. Les cinq princes des Philistins sont celui de Gaza, celui d'Ashdod, celui d'Ashqelôn, celui de Gat etcelui d'Eqrôn; les Avvites sont
4 the south. The entire territory of the Canaanites, and Mearah which belongs to the Sidonians, as far asAphekah and as far as the frontier of the Amorites;	4 au midi. Tout le pays des Cananéens, et Mearah qui est aux Sidoniens, jusqu'à Aphéqa et jusqu'à lafrontière des Amorites;
5 and then the country of the Gebalites with the entire Lebanon eastwards from Baal-Gad at the foot ofMount Hermon to the Pass of Hamath.	5 puis le pays du Giblite avec tout le Liban à l'orient, depuis Baal-Gad au pied du mont Hermonjusqu'à l'Entrée de Hamat.
6 'All who live in the highlands from the Lebanon to Misrephoth in the west -- al the Sidonians -- I myselfshall dispossess before the Israelites. Al you have to do is to distribute the territory as a heritage for theIsraelites as I have ordered you.	6 "Tous les habitants de la montagne depuis le Liban jusqu'à Misrephot à l'occident, tous les Sidoniens,c'est moi qui les déposséderai devant les Israélites. Tu n'as qu'à distribuer le pays en héritage aux Israélitescomme je te l'ai ordonné.
7 The time has come to divide this territory as a heritage between the nine tribes and the half-tribe ofManasseh: from the Jordan as far as the Great Sea in the west, you must give it them; the Great Sea wil betheir limit.'	7 Le moment est venu de partager ce pays en héritage entre les neuf tribus et la demi-tribu de Manassé:depuis le Jourdain jusqu'à la Grande mer à l'occident, tu le leur donneras; la Grande mer sera leur limite.
8 As regards the other half-tribe of Manasseh, this and the Reubenites and Gadites had already receivedtheir heritage, given them by Moses on the further, eastern side of the Jordan, the one which Moses, servant ofYahweh, had already given them:	8 Quant à l'autre demi-tribu de Manassé, elle avait, avec les Rubénites et les Gadites, déjà reçu sonhéritage, celui que Moïse leur avait donné au-delà du Jourdain, à l'orient, comme Moïse, serviteur de Yahvé, leleur avait alors donné:
9 The country onwards from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the town in the bottom of theval ey and the entire tableland from Medeba to Dibon;	9 à partir d'Aroër qui est sur le bord de la vallée de l'Arnon, avec la ville qui est au fond de la vallée ettout le plateau depuis Médba jusqu'à Dibôn;
10 al the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, to the frontier of theAmmonites;	10 toutes les villes de Sihôn, roi des Amorites, qui avait régné à Heshbôn, jusqu'à la frontière desAmmonites.
11 then Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites with the whole Hermon range and thewhole of Bashan as far as Salecah;	11 Puis le Galaad et le territoire des Geshurites et des Maakatites, avec tout le massif de l'Hermon et leBashân en entier, jusqu'à Salka;
12 and in Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, and was the lastof the survivors of the Rephaim. Moses had conquered and dispossessed these two kings.	12 et dans le Bashân, tout le royaume de Og qui avait régné à Ashtarot et à Edréï, et fut le derniersurvivant des Rephaïm. Moïse avait vaincu et dépossédé ces deux rois.
13 The Israelites did not, however, dispossess either the Geshurites or the Maacathites, hence Geshurand Maacah survive inside Israel even today.	13 Mais les Israélites ne dépossédèrent pas les Geshurites ni les Maakatites, aussi Geshur et Maakasont-ils encore aujourd'hui au milieu d'Israël.
14 To the tribe of Levi alone no heritage was given; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, as he hadtold him.	14 La tribu de Lévi fut la seule à laquelle on ne donna pas d'héritage: Yahvé, Dieu d'Israël, fut sonhéritage, comme il le lui avait dit.
15 Moses had given the tribe of the sons of Reuben a share by clans.	15 Moïse avait donné à la tribu des fils de Ruben une part selon leurs clans.
16 Thus, their territory was the entire tableland from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the townin the bottom of the val ey, as far as Medeba,	16 Ils eurent donc pour territoire depuis Aroër qui est sur le bord de la vallée, avec la ville qui est aufond de la vallée, tout le plateau jusqu'à Médba,
17 Heshbon with all the towns on the tableland: Dibon, Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal-Meon,	17 Heshbôn avec toutes les villes qui sont sur le plateau: Dibôn, Bamot-Baal, Bet-Baal-Meôn,
18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,	18 Yahaç, Qedémot, Méphaat,
19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah and, in the highlands of the Arabah, Zereth-Shahar;	19 Qiryatayim, Sibma et, dans la montagne de la Araba, Cérèt-ha-Shahar;
20 Beth-Peor, the watered foothills of Mount Pisgah, Beth-ha-Jeshimoth,	20 Bet-Péor, les pentes arrosées du Pisga, Bet-ha-Yeshimot,
21 al the towns on the tableland and the entire kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reignedin Heshbon; he had been defeated by Moses, and with him the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur andReba, vassals of Sihon, formerly living in the country.	21 toutes les villes du plateau et tout le royaume de Sihôn, roi des Amorites, qui régna à Heshbôn; ilavait été battu par Moïse ainsi que les princes de Madiân, Evi, Réqem, Cur, Hur, Réba, vassaux de Sihôn quihabitaient le pays.
22 As regards Balaam son of Beor, the soothsayer, the Israelites had put him to the sword with thosewhom they had kil ed.	22 Quant à Balaam, fils de Béor, le devin, les Israélites l'avaient passé au fil de l'épée, avec ceux qu'ilsavaient tués.
23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the Jordan and its territory. Such was the heritage of the sons ofReuben, by clans, with the towns and vil ages belonging to them.	23 Ainsi la frontière des Rubénites était le Jourdain et son territoire. Tel fut l'héritage des fils de Rubenselon leurs clans, avec les villes et leurs villages.
24 Moses had given the tribe of Gad, the sons of Gad, a share by clans.	24 Moïse avait donné à la tribu de Gad, aux fils de Gad, une part selon leurs clans.
25 Their territory was Jazer, al the towns of Gilead, half the country of the Ammonites as far as Aroerfacing Rabbah,	25 Ils eurent pour territoire Yazèr, toutes les villes de Galaad, la moitié du pays des Ammonites jusqu'àAroër qui est en face de Rabba,
26 and from Heshbon to Ramath-Mizpeh and Betonim; from Mahanaim as far as the territory of Lo-Debar,	26 et depuis Heshbôn jusqu'à Ramat-ha-Miçpé et Betonim; à partir de Mahanayim jusqu'au territoirede Lo-Debar,
27 and in the val ey: Beth-Haram, Beth-Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon -- the rest of the kingdom of Sihonking of Heshbon -- the Jordan and the territory running to the tip of the Sea of Chinneroth, on the further, easternside of the Jordan.	27 et dans la vallée: Bet-Haram, Bet-Nimra, Sukkot, Caphôn -- le reste du royaume de Sihôn, roid'Heshbôn --, le Jourdain et le territoire allant jusqu'à l'extrémité de la mer de Kinnérèt, au-delà du Jourdain, àl'orient.
28 Such was the heritage of the sons of Gad, by clans, with their towns and vil ages belonging to them.	28 Tel fut l'héritage des fils de Gad, selon leurs clans, avec leurs villes et leurs villages.
29 Moses had given the half-tribe of Manasseh a share by clans.	29 Moïse avait donné à la demi-tribu de Manassé une part selon leurs clans.
30 Their territory, starting from Mahanaim, was the whole of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og king ofBashan, all the Encampments of Jair in Bashan: sixty towns.	30 Ils eurent pour territoire à partir de Mahanayim tout le Bashân, tout le royaume de Og, roi duBashân, tous les Douars de Yaïr en Bashân, soit 60 villes.
31 Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, were al otted to the sons ofMachir son of Manasseh, to half of the sons of Machir, by clans.	31 La moitié de Galaad ainsi qu'Ashtarot et Edréï, villes royales de Og en Bashân, passèrent aux fils deMakir, fils de Manassé, à la moitié des fils de Makir selon leurs clans.
32 This was what Moses had conferred in heritage on the Plains of Moab on the further, eastern side ofthe Jordan opposite Jericho.	32 Voici ce que Moïse avait donné en héritage dans les Steppes de Moab, au-delà du Jourdain, en facede Jéricho à l'orient.
33 To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses gave no heritage; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, ashe had told him.	33 Mais à la tribu de Lévi, Moïse n'avait pas donné d'héritage: c'est Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël, qui est sonhéritage, comme il le lui a dit.
