1 Now Joshua had grown old and advanced in years. Yahweh said to him, 'You are now old andadvanced in years, yet there is stil a great deal of territory left to be taken possession of.	1 Josué avait déjà vécu de nombreux jours et il était très âgé lorsque Yahvé lui dit: “Tu es devenu vieux, tu es déjà très âgé et il reste encore un grand pays à conquérir.
2 This is al the territory left: 'Al the districts of the Philistines and the whole country of the Geshurites;	2 Voici ce qui reste: tous les territoires des Philistins, tout le territoire des Guéchourites,
3 from the Shihor, facing Egypt, to the frontier of Ekron in the north, is reckoned as Canaanite territory.The five rulers of the Philistines have their seats at Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron, respectively; theAvvites are in	3 depuis le Chihor en face de l’Égypte jusqu’à la frontière d’Ékron au nord, que l’on considère comme le pays des Cananéens. (Les cinq petits royaumes Philistins sont: Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkélon, Gat et Ékron et les Avvites sont
4 the south. The entire territory of the Canaanites, and Mearah which belongs to the Sidonians, as far asAphekah and as far as the frontier of the Amorites;	4 au sud.) Puis tout le pays des Cananéens depuis Méara qui appartient à Sidon jusqu’à Aféka et jusqu’au territoire des Amorites;
5 and then the country of the Gebalites with the entire Lebanon eastwards from Baal-Gad at the foot ofMount Hermon to the Pass of Hamath.	5 le pays des Guiblites avec tout le Liban à l’est, depuis Baal-Gad au pied du mont Hermon jusqu’à l’Entrée-de-Hamat.
6 'All who live in the highlands from the Lebanon to Misrephoth in the west -- al the Sidonians -- I myselfshall dispossess before the Israelites. Al you have to do is to distribute the territory as a heritage for theIsraelites as I have ordered you.	6 Tous les habitants de la montagne, depuis le Liban jusqu’aux eaux de Misréfot et tous les Sidoniens, je les chasserai devant les Israélites, et tu n’auras qu’à partager le pays en héritage entre les Israélites, comme je te l’ai ordonné.
7 The time has come to divide this territory as a heritage between the nine tribes and the half-tribe ofManasseh: from the Jordan as far as the Great Sea in the west, you must give it them; the Great Sea wil betheir limit.'	7 Maintenant donc, partage ce pays pour qu’il devienne l’héritage des neuf tribus et de la demi-tribu de Manassé. Tu le leur donneras depuis le Jourdain jusqu’à la Grande Mer à l’ouest: la Grande Mer sera leur frontière.
8 As regards the other half-tribe of Manasseh, this and the Reubenites and Gadites had already receivedtheir heritage, given them by Moses on the further, eastern side of the Jordan, the one which Moses, servant ofYahweh, had already given them:	8 Moïse avait déjà donné leur héritage de l’autre côté du Jourdain à l’est, à l’autre demi-tribu de Manassé, à la tribu de Ruben et à celle de Gad. Voici ce que Moïse serviteur de Yahvé leur avait alors donné comme territoire:
9 The country onwards from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the town in the bottom of theval ey and the entire tableland from Medeba to Dibon;	9 depuis Aroër sur le versant de l’Arnon, la ville qui est au fond de la vallée, tout le plateau depuis Medba jusqu’à Dibon;
10 al the towns of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reigned in Heshbon, to the frontier of theAmmonites;	10 toutes les villes de Sihon, roi des Amorites qui régnait à Heshbon jusqu’à la frontière des Ammonites;
11 then Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites with the whole Hermon range and thewhole of Bashan as far as Salecah;	11 le Galaad et le territoire des Guéchourites et des Maakatites, tout le massif de l’Hermon, tout le Bashan jusqu’à Salka;
12 and in Bashan, the whole kingdom of Og, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei, and was the lastof the survivors of the Rephaim. Moses had conquered and dispossessed these two kings.	12 et dans le Bashan, tout le royaume d’Og qui régnait à Achtarot et à Édréï et qui fut le dernier survivant des Réphaïm. Moïse avait vaincu et dépouillé ces deux rois.
13 The Israelites did not, however, dispossess either the Geshurites or the Maacathites, hence Geshurand Maacah survive inside Israel even today.	13 Cependant les Israélites ne dépossédèrent ni les Guéchourites ni les Maakatites, c’est pourquoi Guéchour et Maaka existent encore aujourd’hui au milieu d’Israël.
14 To the tribe of Levi alone no heritage was given; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, as he hadtold him.	14 La seule tribu à qui l’on ne donna pas d’héritage fut la tribu de Lévi, car Yahvé Dieu d’Israël est son héritage comme il le lui a dit.
15 Moses had given the tribe of the sons of Reuben a share by clans.	15 Moïse avait fait le partage entre les clans de la tribu de Ruben.
16 Thus, their territory was the entire tableland from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon Val ey, with the townin the bottom of the val ey, as far as Medeba,	16 Voici le territoire qu’ils reçurent: depuis Aroër sur le versant de l’Arnon, la ville qui est au fond de la vallée, tout le plateau jusqu’à Medba;
17 Heshbon with all the towns on the tableland: Dibon, Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal-Meon,	17 Heshbon avec toutes les villes qui sont sur le plateau: Dibon, Bamot-Baal, Beth-Baal-Méon,
18 Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,	18 Yahas, Kédémot, Méfaat,
19 Kiriathaim, Sibmah and, in the highlands of the Arabah, Zereth-Shahar;	19 Kiryatayim, Sibma et Séret-Ha-Chahar dans la montagne de la Araba;
20 Beth-Peor, the watered foothills of Mount Pisgah, Beth-ha-Jeshimoth,	20 Beth-Péor, les versants arrosés du Pisga, Beth-Ha-Yéchimot,
21 al the towns on the tableland and the entire kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who had reignedin Heshbon; he had been defeated by Moses, and with him the princes of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur andReba, vassals of Sihon, formerly living in the country.	21 toutes les villes du plateau et tout le royaume de Sihon, roi des Amorites, (il avait été battu par Moïse avec les princes de Madian: Évi, Rékem, Sour, Hour et Réba qui étaient soumis à Sihon et qui habitaient le pays.
22 As regards Balaam son of Beor, the soothsayer, the Israelites had put him to the sword with thosewhom they had kil ed.	22 Le devin Balaam, fils de Péor, faisait partie de ceux qui avaient été passés au fil de l’épée.)
23 The boundary of the Reubenites was the Jordan and its territory. Such was the heritage of the sons ofReuben, by clans, with the towns and vil ages belonging to them.	23 La frontière de Ruben était donc le Jourdain et tout son territoire. Voilà l’héritage des clans de Ruben, avec leurs villes et leurs villages.
24 Moses had given the tribe of Gad, the sons of Gad, a share by clans.	24 Moïse avait fait le partage entre les clans de la tribu de Gad, les fils de Gad.
25 Their territory was Jazer, al the towns of Gilead, half the country of the Ammonites as far as Aroerfacing Rabbah,	25 Voici le territoire qu’ils reçurent: Yazer, toutes les villes de Galaad, la moitié du pays des Ammonites jusqu’à Aroër qui fait face à Rabba,
26 and from Heshbon to Ramath-Mizpeh and Betonim; from Mahanaim as far as the territory of Lo-Debar,	26 depuis Heshbon jusqu’à Ramat-Ha-Mispé et Bétonim, à partir de Mahanayim jusqu’au territoire de Lo-Débar,
27 and in the val ey: Beth-Haram, Beth-Nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon -- the rest of the kingdom of Sihonking of Heshbon -- the Jordan and the territory running to the tip of the Sea of Chinneroth, on the further, easternside of the Jordan.	27 dans la vallée: Beth-Haram, Beth-Nimra, Soukkoth, Safon, (tout cela formait la seconde moitié du royaume de Sihon, roi de Heshbon.) le Jourdain et le territoire qui s’étend jusqu’à l’extrémité de la mer de Kinnéret sur la rive est du Jourdain.
28 Such was the heritage of the sons of Gad, by clans, with their towns and vil ages belonging to them.	28 Voilà l’héritage des clans de Gad, avec leurs villes et leurs villages.
29 Moses had given the half-tribe of Manasseh a share by clans.	29 Moïse avait fait le partage entre les clans de la demi-tribu de Manassé.
30 Their territory, starting from Mahanaim, was the whole of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og king ofBashan, all the Encampments of Jair in Bashan: sixty towns.	30 Voici le territoire qu’ils reçurent: à partir de Mahanayim, tout le Bashan, tout le royaume d’Og roi du Bashan, tous les Douars de Yaïr dans le Bashan; au total 60 villes.
31 Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth, and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan, were al otted to the sons ofMachir son of Manasseh, to half of the sons of Machir, by clans.	31 Les fils de Makir, fils de Manassé, reçurent la moitié du Galaad avec Achtarot et Édréï, les capitales d’Og de Bashan. Tel fut le territoire des clans de Makir.
32 This was what Moses had conferred in heritage on the Plains of Moab on the further, eastern side ofthe Jordan opposite Jericho.	32 C’étaient là les terres que Moïse avait données en héritage dans les Steppes de Moab, de l’autre côté du Jourdain, à l’est de Jéricho.
33 To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses gave no heritage; Yahweh, God of Israel, was his heritage, ashe had told him.	33 Mais Moïse n’avait pas donné d’héritage à la tribu de Lévi, car Yahvé le Dieu d’Israël est son héritage, comme il le lui a dit.
