Colossians 3

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, whereChrist is, sitting at God's right hand.	1 Igitur, si consurrexistis cum Christo : quæ sursum sunt quærite, ubi Christus est in dextera Dei sedens :
2 Let your thoughts be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth,	2 quæ sursum sunt sapite, non quæ super terram.
3 because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God.	3 Mortui enim estis, et vita vestra est abscondita cum Christo in Deo.
4 But when Christ is revealed -- and he is your life-you, too, wil be revealed with him in glory.	4 Cum Christus apparuerit, vita vestra : tunc et vos apparebitis cum ipso in gloria.
5 That is why you must kill everything in you that is earthly: sexual vice, impurity, uncontrol ed passion,evil desires and especially greed, which is the same thing as worshipping a false god;	5 Mortificate ergo membra vestra, quæ sunt super terram : fornicationem, immunditiam, libidinem, concupiscentiam malam, et avaritiam, quæ est simulacrorum servitus :
6 it is precisely these things which draw God's retribution upon those who resist.	6 propter quæ venit ira Dei super filios incredulitatis :
7 And these things made up your way of life when you were living among such people,	7 in quibus et vos ambulastis aliquando, cum viveretis in illis.
8 but now you also must give up al these things: human anger, hot temper, malice, abusive language anddirty talk;	8 Nunc autem deponite et vos omnia : iram, indignationem, malitiam, blasphemiam, turpem sermonem de ore vestro.
9 and do not lie to each other. You have stripped off your old behaviour with your old self,	9 Nolite mentiri invicem, expoliantes vos veterem hominem cum actibus suis,
10 and you have put on a new self which will progress towards true knowledge the more it is renewed inthe image of its Creator;	10 et induentes novum eum, qui renovatur in agnitionem secundum imaginem ejus qui creavit illum :
11 and in that image there is no room for distinction between Greek and Jew, between the circumcisedand uncircumcised, or between barbarian and Scythian, slave and free. There is only Christ: he is everythingand he is in everything.	11 ubi non est gentilis et Judæus, circumcisio et præputium, Barbarus et Scytha, servus et liber : sed omnia, et in omnibus Christus.
12 As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfeltcompassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience.	12 Induite vos ergo, sicut electi Dei, sancti, et dilecti, viscera misericordiæ, benignitatem, humilitatem, modestiam, patientiam :
13 Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord hasforgiven you; now you must do the same.	13 supportantes invicem, et donantes vobismetipsis si quis adversus aliquem habet querelam : sicut et Dominus donavit vobis, ita et vos.
14 Over al these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond.	14 Super omnia autem hæc, caritatem habete, quod est vinculum perfectionis :
15 And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were cal ed together inone body. Always be thankful.	15 et pax Christi exsultet in cordibus vestris, in qua et vocati estis in uno corpore : et grati estote.
16 Let the Word of Christ, in al its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise eachother, in al wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God;	16 Verbum Christi habitet in vobis abundanter, in omni sapientia, docentes, et commonentes vosmetipsos, psalmis, hymnis, et canticis spiritualibus, in gratia cantantes in cordibus vestris Deo.
17 and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Fatherthrough him.	17 Omne, quodcumque facitis in verbo aut in opere, omnia in nomine Domini Jesu Christi, gratias agentes Deo et Patri per ipsum.
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as you should in the Lord.	18 Mulieres, subditæ estote viris, sicut oportet, in Domino.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be sharp with them.	19 Viri, diligite uxores vestras, et nolite amari esse ad illas.
20 Children, be obedient to your parents always, because that is what will please the Lord.	20 Filii, obedite parentibus per omnia : hoc enim placitum est in Domino.
21 Parents, do not irritate your children or they will lose heart.	21 Patres, nolite ad indignationem provocare filios vestros, ut non pusillo animo fiant.
22 Slaves, be obedient in every way to the people who, according to human reckoning, are your masters;not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but wholeheartedly, out ofrespect for the Master.	22 Servi, obedite per omnia dominis carnalibus, non ad oculum servientes, quasi hominibus placentes, sed in simplicitate cordis, timentes Deum.
23 Whatever your work is, put your heart into it as done for the Lord and not for human beings,	23 Quodcumque facitis, ex animo operamini sicut Domino, et non hominibus :
24 knowing that the Lord wil repay you by making you his heirs. It is Christ the Lord that you are serving.	24 scientes quod a Domino accipietis retributionem hæreditatis. Domino Christo servite.
25 Anyone who does wrong wil be repaid in kind. For there is no favouritism.	25 Qui enim injuriam facit, recipiet id quod inique gessit : et non est personarum acceptio apud Deum.
