Colossians 3

1 Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, whereChrist is, sitting at God's right hand.	1 Se dunque siete risorti con Cristo, cercate le cose di lassù, dove è Cristo, seduto alla destra di Dio;
2 Let your thoughts be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth,	2 rivolgete il pensiero alle cose di lassù, non a quelle della terra.
3 because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God.	3 Voi infatti siete morti e la vostra vita è nascosta con Cristo in Dio!
4 But when Christ is revealed -- and he is your life-you, too, wil be revealed with him in glory.	4 Quando Cristo, vostra vita, sarà manifestato, allora anche voi apparirete con lui nella gloria.
5 That is why you must kill everything in you that is earthly: sexual vice, impurity, uncontrol ed passion,evil desires and especially greed, which is the same thing as worshipping a false god;	5 Fate morire dunque ciò che appartiene alla terra: impurità, immoralità, passioni, desideri cattivi e quella cupidigia che è idolatria;
6 it is precisely these things which draw God's retribution upon those who resist.	6 a motivo di queste cose l’ira di Dio viene su coloro che gli disobbediscono.
7 And these things made up your way of life when you were living among such people,	7 Anche voi un tempo eravate così, quando vivevate in questi vizi.
8 but now you also must give up al these things: human anger, hot temper, malice, abusive language anddirty talk;	8 Ora invece gettate via anche voi tutte queste cose: ira, animosità, cattiveria, insulti e discorsi osceni, che escono dalla vostra bocca.
9 and do not lie to each other. You have stripped off your old behaviour with your old self,	9 Non dite menzogne gli uni agli altri: vi siete svestiti dell’uomo vecchio con le sue azioni
10 and you have put on a new self which will progress towards true knowledge the more it is renewed inthe image of its Creator;	10 e avete rivestito il nuovo, che si rinnova per una piena conoscenza, ad immagine di Colui che lo ha creato.
11 and in that image there is no room for distinction between Greek and Jew, between the circumcisedand uncircumcised, or between barbarian and Scythian, slave and free. There is only Christ: he is everythingand he is in everything.	11 Qui non vi è Greco o Giudeo, circoncisione o incirconcisione, barbaro, Scita, schiavo, libero, ma Cristo è tutto e in tutti.
12 As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfeltcompassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience.	12 Scelti da Dio, santi e amati, rivestitevi dunque di sentimenti di tenerezza, di bontà, di umiltà, di mansuetudine, di magnanimità,
13 Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord hasforgiven you; now you must do the same.	13 sopportandovi a vicenda e perdonandovi gli uni gli altri, se qualcuno avesse di che lamentarsi nei riguardi di un altro. Come il Signore vi ha perdonato, così fate anche voi.
14 Over al these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond.	14 Ma sopra tutte queste cose rivestitevi della carità, che le unisce in modo perfetto.
15 And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were cal ed together inone body. Always be thankful.	15 E la pace di Cristo regni nei vostri cuori, perché ad essa siete stati chiamati in un solo corpo. E rendete grazie!
16 Let the Word of Christ, in al its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise eachother, in al wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God;	16 La parola di Cristo abiti tra voi nella sua ricchezza. Con ogni sapienza istruitevi e ammonitevi a vicenda con salmi, inni e canti ispirati, con gratitudine, cantando a Dio nei vostri cuori.
17 and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Fatherthrough him.	17 E qualunque cosa facciate, in parole e in opere, tutto avvenga nel nome del Signore Gesù, rendendo grazie per mezzo di lui a Dio Padre.
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as you should in the Lord.	18 Voi, mogli, state sottomesse ai mariti, come conviene nel Signore.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be sharp with them.	19 Voi, mariti, amate le vostre mogli e non trattatele con durezza.
20 Children, be obedient to your parents always, because that is what will please the Lord.	20 Voi, figli, obbedite ai genitori in tutto; ciò è gradito al Signore.
21 Parents, do not irritate your children or they will lose heart.	21 Voi, padri, non esasperate i vostri figli, perché non si scoraggino.
22 Slaves, be obedient in every way to the people who, according to human reckoning, are your masters;not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but wholeheartedly, out ofrespect for the Master.	22 Voi, schiavi, siate docili in tutto con i vostri padroni terreni: non servite solo quando vi vedono, come si fa per piacere agli uomini, ma con cuore semplice e nel timore del Signore.
23 Whatever your work is, put your heart into it as done for the Lord and not for human beings,	23 Qualunque cosa facciate, fatela di buon animo, come per il Signore e non per gli uomini,
24 knowing that the Lord wil repay you by making you his heirs. It is Christ the Lord that you are serving.	24 sapendo che dal Signore riceverete come ricompensa l’eredità. Servite il Signore che è Cristo!
25 Anyone who does wrong wil be repaid in kind. For there is no favouritism.	25 Infatti chi commette ingiustizia subirà le conseguenze del torto commesso, e non si fanno favoritismi personali.
