Colossians 3

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, whereChrist is, sitting at God's right hand.	1 Se dunque siete risorti col Cristo, cercate le cose di lassù dove è il Cristo, assiso alla destra di Dio;
2 Let your thoughts be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth,	2 pensate alle cose di lassù, non a quelle della terra:
3 because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God.	3 voi infatti siete morti e la vostra vita è nascosta con Cristo in Dio.
4 But when Christ is revealed -- and he is your life-you, too, wil be revealed with him in glory.	4 Quando il Cristo, nostra vita, apparirà, allora anche voi apparirete con lui rivestiti di gloria.
5 That is why you must kill everything in you that is earthly: sexual vice, impurity, uncontrol ed passion,evil desires and especially greed, which is the same thing as worshipping a false god;	5 Fate dunque morire le membra terrene: fornicazione, impurità, libidine, desideri sfrenati e l'avidità di guadagno, che è poi idolatria;
6 it is precisely these things which draw God's retribution upon those who resist.	6 per questi vizi piomba l'ira di Dio.
7 And these things made up your way of life when you were living among such people,	7 Anche voi un tempo li praticaste, quando di loro vivevate.
8 but now you also must give up al these things: human anger, hot temper, malice, abusive language anddirty talk;	8 Ora però banditeli tutti anche voi: collera, escandescenze, cattiveria, maldicenza, ingiurie che escono dalla vostra bocca.
9 and do not lie to each other. You have stripped off your old behaviour with your old self,	9 Non mentitevi a vicenda, poiché vi siete spogliati dell'uomo vecchio e del suo modo di agire
10 and you have put on a new self which will progress towards true knowledge the more it is renewed inthe image of its Creator;	10 e vi siete rivestiti del nuovo, che si rinnova per una più piena conoscenza, a immagine di colui che lo ha creato:
11 and in that image there is no room for distinction between Greek and Jew, between the circumcisedand uncircumcised, or between barbarian and Scythian, slave and free. There is only Christ: he is everythingand he is in everything.	11 in questa condizione non c'è più greco o giudeo, circonciso o incirconciso, barbaro o scita, schiavo o libero, ma Cristo, tutto e in tutti.
12 As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfeltcompassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience.	12 Voi dunque, come eletti di Dio, santi e amati, vestitevi di tenera compassione, di bontà, di umiltà, di mitezza, di longanimità,
13 Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord hasforgiven you; now you must do the same.	13 sopportandovi a vicenda e perdonandovi se avviene che uno si lamenti di un altro: come il Signore vi ha perdonato, così fate anche voi;
14 Over al these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond.	14 sopra tutto ciò, rivestitevi di carità, che è il vincolo della perfezione.
15 And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were cal ed together inone body. Always be thankful.	15 E la pace del Cristo, alla quale siete stati chiamati in un solo corpo, regni sovrana nei vostri cuori; e siate riconoscenti.
16 Let the Word of Christ, in al its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise eachother, in al wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God;	16 La parola del Cristo abiti in voi con tutta la sua ricchezza; istruitevi e consigliatevi reciprocamente con ogni sapienza; con salmi, inni e cantici ispirati cantate a Dio nei vostri cuori con gratitudine;
17 and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Fatherthrough him.	17 e qualunque cosa possiate dire o fare, agite sempre nel nome del Signore Gesù, ringraziando Dio Padre per mezzo di lui.
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as you should in the Lord.	18 Donne, siate sottomesse ai vostri mariti, come conviene nel Signore.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be sharp with them.	19 Mariti, amate le vostre donne e non siate indisponenti verso di loro.
20 Children, be obedient to your parents always, because that is what will please the Lord.	20 Figli, obbedite ai vostri genitori in tutto, perché è gradito nel Signore.
21 Parents, do not irritate your children or they will lose heart.	21 Padri, non provocate i vostri figli, perché non si perdano di coraggio.
22 Slaves, be obedient in every way to the people who, according to human reckoning, are your masters;not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but wholeheartedly, out ofrespect for the Master.	22 Schiavi, obbedite ai vostri padroni terreni in tutto, non solo sotto i loro sguardi, perché volete piacere a uomini, ma con cuore semplice, perché temete il Signore.
23 Whatever your work is, put your heart into it as done for the Lord and not for human beings,	23 Qualunque cosa facciate, agite con cuore come per il Signore e non per gli uomini,
24 knowing that the Lord wil repay you by making you his heirs. It is Christ the Lord that you are serving.	24 sapendo che riceverete dal Signore come ricompensa l'eredità. Servite al Signore Cristo!
25 Anyone who does wrong wil be repaid in kind. For there is no favouritism.	25 Certo chi commetterà ingiustizie, riceverà la ricompensa della sua ingiustizia, e non c'è riguardo alla persona.
