Colossians 3

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, whereChrist is, sitting at God's right hand.	1 SE dunque voi siete risuscitati con Cristo, cercate le cose di sopra, dove Cristo è a sedere alla destra di Dio.
2 Let your thoughts be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth,	2 Pensate alle cose di sopra, non a quelle che son sopra la terra.
3 because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God.	3 Perciocchè voi siete morti, e la vita vostra è nascosta con Cristo in Dio.
4 But when Christ is revealed -- and he is your life-you, too, wil be revealed with him in glory.	4 Quando Cristo, che è la vita vostra, apparirà, allora ancor voi apparirete con lui in gloria
5 That is why you must kill everything in you that is earthly: sexual vice, impurity, uncontrol ed passion,evil desires and especially greed, which is the same thing as worshipping a false god;	5 Mortificate adunque le vostre membra che son sopra la terra; fornicazione, immondizia, lussuria nefanda, mala concupiscenza, ed avarizia, che è idolatria.
6 it is precisely these things which draw God's retribution upon those who resist.	6 Per le quali cose viene l’ira di Dio sopra i figliuoli della disubbidienza.
7 And these things made up your way of life when you were living among such people,	7 Nelle quali già camminaste ancor voi, quando vivevate in esse
8 but now you also must give up al these things: human anger, hot temper, malice, abusive language anddirty talk;	8 Ma ora deponete ancora voi tutte queste cose: ira, cruccio, malizia, e fuor della vostra bocca maldicenza, e parlar disonesto.
9 and do not lie to each other. You have stripped off your old behaviour with your old self,	9 Non mentite gli uni agli altri, avendo spogliato l’uomo vecchio co’ suoi atti;
10 and you have put on a new self which will progress towards true knowledge the more it is renewed inthe image of its Creator;	10 e vestito il nuovo, che si rinnova a conoscenza, secondo l’immagine di colui che l’ha creato.
11 and in that image there is no room for distinction between Greek and Jew, between the circumcisedand uncircumcised, or between barbarian and Scythian, slave and free. There is only Christ: he is everythingand he is in everything.	11 Dove non vi è Greco e Giudeo, circoncisione e incirconcisione, Barbaro e Scita, servo e franco; ma Cristo è ogni cosa, ed in tutti
12 As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfeltcompassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience.	12 Vestitevi adunque, come eletti di Dio, santi, e diletti, di viscere di misericordia, di benignità, d’umiltà, di mansuetudine, di pazienza;
13 Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord hasforgiven you; now you must do the same.	13 comportandovi gli uni gli altri, e perdonandovi, se alcuno ha qualche querela contro ad un altro; come Cristo ancora vi ha perdonati, fate voi altresì il simigliante.
14 Over al these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond.	14 E per tutte queste cose, vestitevi di carità, che è il legame della perfezione.
15 And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were cal ed together inone body. Always be thankful.	15 Ed abbia la presidenza ne’ cuori vostri la pace di Dio, alla quale ancora siete stati chiamati in un corpo; e siate riconoscenti.
16 Let the Word of Christ, in al its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise eachother, in al wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God;	16 La parola di Cristo abiti in voi doviziosamente, in ogni sapienza; ammaestrandovi, ed ammonendovi gli uni gli altri, con salmi, ed inni, e canzoni spirituali; cantando con grazia del cuor vostro al Signore.
17 and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Fatherthrough him.	17 E qualunque cosa facciate, in parola, o in opera, fate ogni cosa nel nome del Signore Gesù, rendendo grazie a Dio, e Padre, per lui
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as you should in the Lord.	18 MOGLI, siate soggette a’ mariti, come si conviene nel Signore.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be sharp with them.	19 Mariti, amate le mogli, e non v’inasprite contro a loro.
20 Children, be obedient to your parents always, because that is what will please the Lord.	20 Figliuoli, ubbidite a’ padri e madri, in ogni cosa; poichè questo è accettevole al Signore.
21 Parents, do not irritate your children or they will lose heart.	21 Padri, non provocate ad ira i vostri figliuoli, acciocchè non vengan meno dell’animo.
22 Slaves, be obedient in every way to the people who, according to human reckoning, are your masters;not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but wholeheartedly, out ofrespect for the Master.	22 Servi, ubbidite in ogni cosa a quelli che son vostri signori secondo la carne; non servendo all’occhio, come per piacere agli uomini; ma in semplicità di cuore, temendo Iddio.
23 Whatever your work is, put your heart into it as done for the Lord and not for human beings,	23 E qualunque cosa facciate, operate d’animo, facendolo come al Signore, e non agli uomini;
24 knowing that the Lord wil repay you by making you his heirs. It is Christ the Lord that you are serving.	24 sapendo che dal Signore riceverete la retribuzione dell’eredità; poichè voi servite a Cristo, il Signore.
25 Anyone who does wrong wil be repaid in kind. For there is no favouritism.	25 Ma chi fa torto riceverà la retribuzione del torto ch’egli avrà fatto, e non vi è riguardo a qualità di persona
