1 Since you have been raised up to be with Christ, you must look for the things that are above, whereChrist is, sitting at God's right hand.	1 - Se dunque siete stati risuscitati con Cristo, cercate le cose di lassù dove Cristo è, sedente alla destra di Dio;
2 Let your thoughts be on things above, not on the things that are on the earth,	2 pensate le cose di lassù, non quelle della terra.
3 because you have died, and now the life you have is hidden with Christ in God.	3 Poichè siete morti e la vita vostra, s'è nascosta con Cristo in Dio.
4 But when Christ is revealed -- and he is your life-you, too, wil be revealed with him in glory.	4 Quando Cristo si sarà manifestato che è la vita vostra anche voi allora con lui sarete manifestati nella gloria.
5 That is why you must kill everything in you that is earthly: sexual vice, impurity, uncontrol ed passion,evil desires and especially greed, which is the same thing as worshipping a false god;	5 Mortificate dunque le vostre membra terrene, cioè la fornicazione, l'impurità, la libidine, la prava concupiscenza e l'avarizia che è un'idolaria;
6 it is precisely these things which draw God's retribution upon those who resist.	6 per le quali cose piomba l'ira di Dio sui figliuoli della incredulità;
7 And these things made up your way of life when you were living among such people,	7 in quelle anche voi camminaste una volta quando in mezzo a que' visi vivevate;
8 but now you also must give up al these things: human anger, hot temper, malice, abusive language anddirty talk;	8 ma ora buttate via anche voi tutte codeste cose: ira, animosità, malizia, bestemmia, turpiloquio che possa uscire dalla vostra bocca;
9 and do not lie to each other. You have stripped off your old behaviour with your old self,	9 non ditevi bugie a vicenda, spogliandovi dell'uomo antico coll'opere sue,
10 and you have put on a new self which will progress towards true knowledge the more it is renewed inthe image of its Creator;	10 e rivestendo il nuovo che si rinnovella in modo riconoscibile secondo l'immagine del suo creatore,
11 and in that image there is no room for distinction between Greek and Jew, between the circumcisedand uncircumcised, or between barbarian and Scythian, slave and free. There is only Christ: he is everythingand he is in everything.	11 dove non è più Gentile nè Giudeo, circoncisione e incirconcisione, Barbaro o Scita, schiavo o libero, ma tutto e in tutti è Cristo.
12 As the chosen of God, then, the holy people whom he loves, you are to be clothed in heartfeltcompassion, in generosity and humility, gentleness and patience.	12 Assumete dunque come eletti di Dio, santi e amati, viscere di misericordia, benignità, umiltà, modestia, longanimità,
13 Bear with one another; forgive each other if one of you has a complaint against another. The Lord hasforgiven you; now you must do the same.	13 sopportandovi a vicenda, e a vicenda perdonandovi, se uno abbia a muover lamento d'un altro; come il Signore perdonò a voi, così fate anche voialtri.
14 Over al these clothes, put on love, the perfect bond.	14 E soprattutto rivestitevi di quell'amore che è il vincolo della perfezione.
15 And may the peace of Christ reign in your hearts, because it is for this that you were cal ed together inone body. Always be thankful.	15 E la pace di Cristo risieda arbitra nei vostri cuori, [la pace] a cui siete stati chiamati formando un sol corpo; e siatene grati.
16 Let the Word of Christ, in al its richness, find a home with you. Teach each other, and advise eachother, in al wisdom. With gratitude in your hearts sing psalms and hymns and inspired songs to God;	16 La parola di Cristo abiti in voi abbondantemente, in ogni sapienza ammaestrandovi ed esortandovi a vicenda, fra salmi, inni e cantici spirituali, dolcemente a Dio cantando nei vostri cuori;
17 and whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Fatherthrough him.	17 e qualunque cosa facciate o con parole o con opere, tutto fate nel nome del Signore Gesù, rendendo grazie a Dio padre per mezzo di lui.
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as you should in the Lord.	18 Mogli, siate soggetti ai mariti, come si conviene nel Signore.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be sharp with them.	19 Mariti, amate le vostre mogli e non le amareggiate.
20 Children, be obedient to your parents always, because that is what will please the Lord.	20 Figliuoli, siate ubbidienti ai genitori in tutto, poichè questo è ben piacevole nel Signore.
21 Parents, do not irritate your children or they will lose heart.	21 Padri, non provocate a sdegno i vostri figliuoli affinchè non si perdano d'animo.
22 Slaves, be obedient in every way to the people who, according to human reckoning, are your masters;not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but wholeheartedly, out ofrespect for the Master.	22 Servi, ubbidite in tutto a quelli che secondo la carne sono vostri padroni, non a servigio servizievoli all'occhio come fa chi vuol piacere all'uomo, ma in semplicità di cuore per timor di Dio.
23 Whatever your work is, put your heart into it as done for the Lord and not for human beings,	23 Quel che avete a fare, fatelo di buon animo, come pel Signore, non per gli uomini,
24 knowing that the Lord wil repay you by making you his heirs. It is Christ the Lord that you are serving.	24 sapendo che dal Signore riceverete la ricompensa dell'eredità. Servito a Cristo Signore,
25 Anyone who does wrong wil be repaid in kind. For there is no favouritism.	25 poichè chi commette ingiustizia riceverà il male che ha fatto; e non vi è accettazione di persone presso Dio.
