Philippians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, togetherwith their presiding elders and the deacons.	1 Paulo e Timóteo, servos de Jesus Cristo, a todos os santos em Jesus Cristo, que se acham em Filipos, juntamente com os bispos e diáconos:
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 a vós, graça e paz da parte de Deus, nosso Pai, e da parte do Senhor Jesus Cristo!
3 I thank my God whenever I think of you,	3 Dou graças a meu Deus, cada vez que de vós me lembro.
4 and every time I pray for you al , I always pray with joy	4 Em todas as minhas orações, rezo sempre com alegria por todos vós,
5 for your partnership in the gospel from the very first day up to the present.	5 recordando-me da cooperação que haveis dado na difusão do Evangelho, desde o primeiro dia até agora.
6 I am quite confident that the One who began a good work in you wil go on completing it until the Day ofJesus Christ comes.	6 Estou persuadido de que aquele que iniciou em vós esta obra excelente lhe dará o acabamento até o dia de Jesus Cristo.
7 It is only right that I should feel like this towards you all, because you have a place in my heart, sinceyou have all shared together in the grace that has been mine, both my chains and my work defending andestablishing the gospel.	7 É justo que eu tenha bom conceito de todos vós, porque vos trago no coração, por terdes tomado parte na graça que me foi dada, tanto na minha prisão como na defesa e na confirmação do Evangelho.
8 For God wil testify for me how much I long for you al with the warm longing of Christ Jesus;	8 Deus me é testemunha da ternura que vos consagro a todos, pelo entranhado amor de Jesus Cristo!
9 it is my prayer that your love for one another may grow more and more with the knowledge andcomplete understanding	9 Peço, na minha oração, que a vossa caridade se enriqueça cada vez mais de compreensão e critério,
10 that will help you to come to true discernment, so that you wil be innocent and free of any trace of guiltwhen the Day of Christ comes,	10 com que possais discernir o que é mais perfeito e vos torneis puros e irrepreensíveis para o dia de Cristo,
11 entirely fil ed with the fruits of uprightness through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.	11 cheios de frutos da justiça, que provêm de Jesus Cristo, para a glória e louvor de Deus.
12 Now I want you to realise, brothers, that the circumstances of my present life are helping rather thanhindering the advance of the gospel.	12 Meus irmãos, quero fazer-vos saber que os acontecimentos que me envolvem estão redundando em maior proveito do Evangelho.
13 My chains in Christ have become wel known not only to al the Praetorium, but to everybody else,	13 Em todo o pretório e por toda parte tornou-se conhecido que é por causa de Cristo que estou preso.
14 and so most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my chains and are getting moreand more daring in announcing the Message without any fear.	14 A maior parte dos irmãos, ante a notícia das minhas cadeias, cobrou nova confiança no Senhor e maior entusiasmo em anunciar sem temor a palavra de Deus.
15 It is true that some of them are preaching Christ out of malice and rivalry; but there are many as welwhose intentions are good;	15 É verdade que alguns pregam Cristo por inveja a mim e por discórdia, mas outros o fazem com a melhor boa vontade.
16 some are doing it out of love, knowing that I remain firm in my defence of the gospel.	16 Estes, por caridade, sabendo que tenho por missão a defesa do Evangelho;
17 There are others who are proclaiming Christ out of jealousy, not in sincerity but meaning to add to theweight of my chains.	17 aqueles, ao contrário, pregam Cristo por espírito de intriga, e não com reta intenção, no intuito de agravar meu sofrimento nesta prisão.
18 But what does it matter? Only that in both ways, whether with false motives or true, Christ isproclaimed, and for that I am happy;	18 Mas não faz mal! Contanto que de todas as maneiras, por pretexto ou por verdade, Cristo seja anunciado, nisto não só me alegro, mas sempre me alegrarei.
19 and I shal go on being happy, too, because I know that this is what wil save me, with your prayers andwith the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;	19 Pois sei que isto me resultará em salvação, graças às vossas orações e ao socorro do Espírito de Jesus Cristo.
20 al in accordance with my most confident hope and trust that I shal never have to admit defeat, but withcomplete fearlessness I shall go on, so that now, as always, Christ wil be glorified in my body, whether by mylife or my death.	20 Meu ardente desejo e minha esperança são que em nada serei confundido, mas que, hoje como sempre, Cristo será glorificado no meu corpo {tenho toda a certeza disto}, quer pela minha vida quer pela minha morte.
21 Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain.	21 Porque para mim o viver é Cristo e o morrer é lucro.
22 On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do notknow which I should choose.	22 Mas, se o viver no corpo é útil para o meu trabalho, não sei então o que devo preferir.
23 I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the strongerdesire-	23 Sinto-me pressionado dos dois lados: por uma parte, desejaria desprender-me para estar com Cristo - o que seria imensamente melhor;
24 and yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.	24 mas, de outra parte, continuar a viver é mais necessário, por causa de vós...
25 This much I know for certain, that I shal stay and stand by you al , to encourage your advance andyour joy in the faith,	25 Persuadido disto, sei que ficarei e continuarei com todos vós, para proveito vosso e consolação da vossa fé.
26 so that my return to be among you may increase to overflowing your pride in Jesus Christ on myaccount.	26 Assim, minha volta para junto de vós vos dará um novo motivo de alegria em Cristo Jesus.
27 But you must always behave in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come toyou and see for myself or whether I only hear al about you from a distance, I shall find that you are standing firmand united in spirit, battling, as a team with a single aim, for the faith of the gospel,	27 Cumpre, somente, que vos mostreis em vosso proceder dignos do Evangelho de Cristo. Quer eu vá ter convosco quer permaneça ausente, desejo ouvir que estais firmes em um só espírito, lutando unanimemente pela fé do Evangelho,
28 undismayed by any of your opponents. This will be a clear sign, for them that they are to be lost, andfor you that you are to be saved.	28 sem vos deixardes intimidar em nada pelos vossos adversários. Isto para eles é motivo de perdição; para vós outros, de salvação. E é a vontade de Deus,
29 This comes from God, for you have been granted the privilege for Christ's sake not only of believing inhim but of suffering for him as wel ;	29 porque a vós vos é dado não somente crer em Cristo, mas ainda por ele sofrer.
30 you are fighting the same battle which you saw me fighting for him and which you hear I am fightingstill.	30 Sustentais o mesmo combate que me tendes visto travar e no qual sabeis que eu continuo agora.
