Philippians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, togetherwith their presiding elders and the deacons.	1 Paolo e Timoteo, servi di Cristo Gesù, a tutti i santi in Cristo Gesù che sono a Filippi, con gli episcopi e i diaconi.
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 Grazia a voi e pace da parte di Dio, nostro Padre, e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.
3 I thank my God whenever I think of you,	3 Ringrazio il mio Dio ogni volta che vi ricordo;
4 and every time I pray for you al , I always pray with joy	4 in ogni mia supplica prego sempre con gioia per tutti voi,
5 for your partnership in the gospel from the very first day up to the present.	5 perché avete collaborato al vangelo dal primo giorno fino al presente;
6 I am quite confident that the One who began a good work in you wil go on completing it until the Day ofJesus Christ comes.	6 ho la ferma convinzione che Colui che ha iniziato tra voi quest'opera eccellente la porterà a termine fino al giorno di Cristo Gesù.
7 It is only right that I should feel like this towards you all, because you have a place in my heart, sinceyou have all shared together in the grace that has been mine, both my chains and my work defending andestablishing the gospel.	7 E' giusto che pensi cosìdi tutti voi, perché vi porto nel cuore, essendo voi tutti, e nelle mie catene e nella difesa e consolidamento del vangelo, partecipi con me della grazia.
8 For God wil testify for me how much I long for you al with the warm longing of Christ Jesus;	8 Sì, mi è testimone Iddio quanto ardentemente ricerchi tutti voi col cuore di Cristo Gesù.
9 it is my prayer that your love for one another may grow more and more with the knowledge andcomplete understanding	9 Questo io chiedo: che il vostro amore cresca sempre più in conoscenza e ogni delicato sentimento,
10 that will help you to come to true discernment, so that you wil be innocent and free of any trace of guiltwhen the Day of Christ comes,	10 affinché apprezziate le cose migliori e così siate puri e senza macchia per il giorno di Cristo,
11 entirely fil ed with the fruits of uprightness through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.	11 ricolmi del frutto di giustizia, che si ottiene per mezzo di Gesù Cristo, a gloria e lode di Dio.
12 Now I want you to realise, brothers, that the circumstances of my present life are helping rather thanhindering the advance of the gospel.	12 Ora, fratelli, desidero informarvi che le mie vicende sono risultate di vantaggio al vangelo
13 My chains in Christ have become wel known not only to al the Praetorium, but to everybody else,	13 a tal punto che le mie catene per Cristo sono famose in tutto il pretorio e altrove,
14 and so most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my chains and are getting moreand more daring in announcing the Message without any fear.	14 e molti fratelli, fiduciosi nel Signore a motivo della mia prigionia, con più fierezza annunciano, senza timore, la parola di Dio.
15 It is true that some of them are preaching Christ out of malice and rivalry; but there are many as welwhose intentions are good;	15 Alcuni certo predicano il Cristo mossi da invidia e da spirito di parte, altri invece con buona disposizione;
16 some are doing it out of love, knowing that I remain firm in my defence of the gospel.	16 gli uni annunciano il Cristo per amore, ben sapendo che io sono posto a difesa del vangelo,
17 There are others who are proclaiming Christ out of jealousy, not in sincerity but meaning to add to theweight of my chains.	17 gli altri invece per ambizione, con slealtà, immaginando di aumentare il peso delle mie catene.
18 But what does it matter? Only that in both ways, whether with false motives or true, Christ isproclaimed, and for that I am happy;	18 Che me ne importa? Dopo tutto, o per pretesto o sinceramente, Cristo in ogni modo è annunciato. E di questo godo. Anzi continuerò a godere:
19 and I shal go on being happy, too, because I know that this is what wil save me, with your prayers andwith the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;	19 so infatti che, grazie alla vostra preghiera e all'aiuto che mi darà lo Spirito di Gesù Cristo, questo gioverà alla mia salvezza.
20 al in accordance with my most confident hope and trust that I shal never have to admit defeat, but withcomplete fearlessness I shall go on, so that now, as always, Christ wil be glorified in my body, whether by mylife or my death.	20 Questo ardentemente attendo e spero: nulla mi farà arrossire, ma con tutta franchezza, anche al presente, come sempre, Cristo sarà glorificato nel mio corpo, sia ch'io viva, sia ch'io muoia.
21 Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain.	21 Per me infatti vivere è Cristo e il morire un guadagno.
22 On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do notknow which I should choose.	22 Perché, se continuare a vivere nella carne mi frutta lavoro, non so cosa scegliere.
23 I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the strongerdesire-	23 Sono preso da due sentimenti: desidero andarmene ed essere col Cristo, e sarebbe preferibile;
24 and yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.	24 ma continuare a vivere nella carne è più necessario per il vostro bene.
25 This much I know for certain, that I shal stay and stand by you al , to encourage your advance andyour joy in the faith,	25 Persuaso di ciò, so che rimarrò e sarò accanto a tutti voi per il vostro progresso e la vostra gioia nella fede,
26 so that my return to be among you may increase to overflowing your pride in Jesus Christ on myaccount.	26 affinché il vostro vanto per me s'accresca in Cristo Gesù, col mio nuovo ritorno tra voi.
27 But you must always behave in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come toyou and see for myself or whether I only hear al about you from a distance, I shall find that you are standing firmand united in spirit, battling, as a team with a single aim, for the faith of the gospel,	27 Soltanto, comportatevi in maniera degna del vangelo di Cristo; e sia che venga a vedervi, sia che resti lontano, oda dire di voi che persistete in un solo spirito, lottando unanimi per la fede del vangelo,
28 undismayed by any of your opponents. This will be a clear sign, for them that they are to be lost, andfor you that you are to be saved.	28 e che gli avversari non vi atterriscono per nulla: questo è un indizio sicuro, per loro di perdizione e per voi di salvezza, e ciò da parte di Dio,
29 This comes from God, for you have been granted the privilege for Christ's sake not only of believing inhim but of suffering for him as wel ;	29 poiché per riguardo al Cristo, a voi è stata concessa la grazia non solo di credere, ma anche di soffrire per lui,
30 you are fighting the same battle which you saw me fighting for him and which you hear I am fightingstill.	30 affrontando la medesima lotta che vedeste da me sostenuta e che, come sapete, è tuttora in corso.
