Philippians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, togetherwith their presiding elders and the deacons.	1 Pablo y Timoteo, siervos de Cristo Jesús, a todos los santos en Cristo Jesús, que están en Filipos, con los epíscopos y diáconos.
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 Gracia a vosotros y paz de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.
3 I thank my God whenever I think of you,	3 Doy gracias a mi Dios cada vez que me acuerdo de vosotros,
4 and every time I pray for you al , I always pray with joy	4 rogando siempre y en todas mis oraciones con alegría por todos vosotros
5 for your partnership in the gospel from the very first day up to the present.	5 a causa de la colaboración que habéis prestado al Evangelio, desde el primer día hasta hoy;
6 I am quite confident that the One who began a good work in you wil go on completing it until the Day ofJesus Christ comes.	6 firmemente convencido de que, quien inició en vosotros la buena obra, la irá consumando hasta el Día de Cristo Jesús.
7 It is only right that I should feel like this towards you all, because you have a place in my heart, sinceyou have all shared together in the grace that has been mine, both my chains and my work defending andestablishing the gospel.	7 Y es justo que yo sienta así de todos vosotros, pues os llevo en mi corazón, partícipes como sois todos de mi gracia, tanto en mis cadenas como en la defensa y consolidación del Evangelio.
8 For God wil testify for me how much I long for you al with the warm longing of Christ Jesus;	8 Pues testigo me es Dios de cuánto os quiero a todos vosotros en el corazón de Cristo Jesús.
9 it is my prayer that your love for one another may grow more and more with the knowledge andcomplete understanding	9 Y lo que pido en mi oración es que vuestro amor siga creciendo cada vez más en conocimiento perfecto y todo discernimiento,
10 that will help you to come to true discernment, so that you wil be innocent and free of any trace of guiltwhen the Day of Christ comes,	10 con que podáis aquilatar los mejor para ser puros y sin tacha para el Día de Cristo,
11 entirely fil ed with the fruits of uprightness through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.	11 llenos de los frutos de justicia que vienen por Jesucristo, para gloria y alabanza de Dios.
12 Now I want you to realise, brothers, that the circumstances of my present life are helping rather thanhindering the advance of the gospel.	12 Quiero que sepáis, hermanos, que lo que me ha sucedido ha contribuido más bien al progreso del Evangelio;
13 My chains in Christ have become wel known not only to al the Praetorium, but to everybody else,	13 de tal forma que se ha hecho público en todo el Pretorio y entre todos los demás, que me hallo en cadenas por Cristo.
14 and so most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my chains and are getting moreand more daring in announcing the Message without any fear.	14 Y la mayor parte de los hermanos, alentados en el Señor por mis cadenas, tienen mayor intrepidez en anunciar sin temor la Palabra.
15 It is true that some of them are preaching Christ out of malice and rivalry; but there are many as welwhose intentions are good;	15 Es cierto que algunos predican a Cristo por envidia y rivalidad; mas hay también otros que lo hacen con buena intención;
16 some are doing it out of love, knowing that I remain firm in my defence of the gospel.	16 éstos, por amor, conscientes de que yo estoy puesto para defender el Evangelio;
17 There are others who are proclaiming Christ out of jealousy, not in sincerity but meaning to add to theweight of my chains.	17 aquéllos, por rivalidad, no con puras intenciones, creyendo que aumentan la tribulación de mis cadenas.
18 But what does it matter? Only that in both ways, whether with false motives or true, Christ isproclaimed, and for that I am happy;	18 Pero ¿y qué? Al fin y al cabo, hipócrita o sinceramente, Cristo es anunciado, y esto me alegra y seguirá alegrándome.
19 and I shal go on being happy, too, because I know that this is what wil save me, with your prayers andwith the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;	19 Pues yo sé que esto servirá para mi salvación gracias a vuestras oraciones y a la ayuda prestada por el Espíritu de Jesucristo,
20 al in accordance with my most confident hope and trust that I shal never have to admit defeat, but withcomplete fearlessness I shall go on, so that now, as always, Christ wil be glorified in my body, whether by mylife or my death.	20 conforme a lo que aguardo y espero, que en modo alguno seré confundido; antes bien, que con plena seguridad, ahora como siempre, Cristo será glorificado en mi cuerpo, por mi vida o por mi muerte,
21 Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain.	21 pues para mí la vida es Cristo, y la muerte, una ganancia.
22 On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do notknow which I should choose.	22 Pero si el vivir en la carne significa para mí trabajo fecundo, no sé qué escoger...
23 I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the strongerdesire-	23 Me siento apremiado por las dos partes: por una parte, deseo partir y estar con Cristo, lo cual, ciertamente, es con mucho lo mejor;
24 and yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.	24 mas, por otra parte, quedarme en la carne es más necesario para vosotros.
25 This much I know for certain, that I shal stay and stand by you al , to encourage your advance andyour joy in the faith,	25 Y, persuadido de esto, sé que me quedaré y permaneceré con todos vosotros para progreso y gozo de vuestra fe,
26 so that my return to be among you may increase to overflowing your pride in Jesus Christ on myaccount.	26 a fin de que tengáis por mi causa un nuevo motivo de orgullo en Cristo Jesús cuando yo vuelva a estar entre vosotros.
27 But you must always behave in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come toyou and see for myself or whether I only hear al about you from a distance, I shall find that you are standing firmand united in spirit, battling, as a team with a single aim, for the faith of the gospel,	27 Lo que importa es que vosotros llevéis una vida digna del Evangelio de Cristo, para que tanto si voy a veros como si estoy ausente, oiga de vosotros que os mantenéis firmes en un mismo espíritu y lucháis acordes por la fe del Evangelio,
28 undismayed by any of your opponents. This will be a clear sign, for them that they are to be lost, andfor you that you are to be saved.	28 sin dejaros intimidar en nada por los adversarios, lo cual es para ellos señal de perdición, y para vosotros de salvación. Todo esto viene de Dios.
29 This comes from God, for you have been granted the privilege for Christ's sake not only of believing inhim but of suffering for him as wel ;	29 Pues a vosotros se os ha concedido la gracia de que por Cristo... no sólo que creáis en él, sino también que padezcáis por él,
30 you are fighting the same battle which you saw me fighting for him and which you hear I am fightingstill.	30 sosteniendo el mismo combate en que antes me visteis y en el que ahora sabéis que me encuentro.
