Philippians 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all God's holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, togetherwith their presiding elders and the deacons.	1 Pablo y Timoteo, servidores de Cristo Jesús, saludan a todos los santos en Cristo Jesús, que se encuentran en Filipos, así como también a los que presiden la comunidad y a los diáconos.
2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.	2 Llegue a ustedes la gracia y la paz que proceden de Dios, nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo.
3 I thank my God whenever I think of you,	3 Yo doy gracias a Dios cada vez que los recuerdo.
4 and every time I pray for you al , I always pray with joy	4 Siempre y en todas mis oraciones pido con alegría por todos ustedes,
5 for your partnership in the gospel from the very first day up to the present.	5 pensando en la colaboración que prestaron a la difusión del Evangelio, desde el comienzo hasta ahora.
6 I am quite confident that the One who began a good work in you wil go on completing it until the Day ofJesus Christ comes.	6 Estoy firmemente convencido de que aquel que comenzó en ustedes la buena obra la irá completando hasta el Día de Cristo Jesús.
7 It is only right that I should feel like this towards you all, because you have a place in my heart, sinceyou have all shared together in the grace that has been mine, both my chains and my work defending andestablishing the gospel.	7 Y es justo que tenga estos sentimientos hacia todos ustedes, porque los llevo en mi corazón, ya que ustedes, sea cuando estoy prisionero, sea cuando trabajo en la defensa y en la confirmación del Evangelio, participan de la gracia que he recibido.
8 For God wil testify for me how much I long for you al with the warm longing of Christ Jesus;	8 Dios es testigo de que los quiero tiernamente a todos en el corazón de Cristo Jesús.
9 it is my prayer that your love for one another may grow more and more with the knowledge andcomplete understanding	9 Y en mi oración pido que el amor de ustedes crezca cada vez más en el conocimiento y en la plena comprensión,
10 that will help you to come to true discernment, so that you wil be innocent and free of any trace of guiltwhen the Day of Christ comes,	10 a fin de que puedan discernir lo que es mejor. Así serán encontrados puros e irreprochables en el Día de Cristo.
11 entirely fil ed with the fruits of uprightness through Jesus Christ, for the glory and praise of God.	11 llenos del fruto de justicia que proviene de Jesucristo, para la gloria y alabanza de Dios.
12 Now I want you to realise, brothers, that the circumstances of my present life are helping rather thanhindering the advance of the gospel.	12 Quiero que ustedes sepan, hermanos, que lo que me ha sucedido más bien ha contribuido al progreso del Evangelio.
13 My chains in Christ have become wel known not only to al the Praetorium, but to everybody else,	13 En efecto, en el pretorio y en todas partes, se ha hecho evidente que es por Cristo que llevo las cadenas,
14 and so most of the brothers in the Lord have gained confidence from my chains and are getting moreand more daring in announcing the Message without any fear.	14 y la mayor parte de los hermanos, a quienes mis cadenas han devuelto el coraje en el Señor, se han animado a proclamar sin temor la Palabra de Dios.
15 It is true that some of them are preaching Christ out of malice and rivalry; but there are many as welwhose intentions are good;	15 Es verdad que algunos predican a Cristo llevados por la envidia y el espíritu de discordia, pero otros lo hacen con buena intención.
16 some are doing it out of love, knowing that I remain firm in my defence of the gospel.	16 Estos obran por amor, sabiendo que yo tengo la misión de defender el Evangelio.
17 There are others who are proclaiming Christ out of jealousy, not in sincerity but meaning to add to theweight of my chains.	17 Aquellos, en cambio, anuncian a Cristo por espíritu de discordia, por motivos que no son puros, creyendo que así aumentan el peso de mis cadenas.
18 But what does it matter? Only that in both ways, whether with false motives or true, Christ isproclaimed, and for that I am happy;	18 Pero ¡qué importa! Después de todo, de una u otra manera, con sinceridad o sin ella, Cristo es anunciado, y de esto me alegro y me alegraré siempre.
19 and I shal go on being happy, too, because I know that this is what wil save me, with your prayers andwith the support of the Spirit of Jesus Christ;	19 Porque sé que esto servirá para mi salvación, gracias a las oraciones de ustedes y a la ayuda que me da el Espíritu de Jesucristo.
20 al in accordance with my most confident hope and trust that I shal never have to admit defeat, but withcomplete fearlessness I shall go on, so that now, as always, Christ wil be glorified in my body, whether by mylife or my death.	20 Así lo espero ansiosamente, y no seré defraudado. Al contrario, estoy completamente seguro de que ahora, como siempre, sea que viva, sea que muera, Cristo será glorificado en mi cuerpo.
21 Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain.	21 Porque para mí la vida es Cristo, y la muerte, una ganancia.
22 On the other hand again, if to be alive in the body gives me an opportunity for fruitful work, I do notknow which I should choose.	22 Pero si la vida en este cuerpo me permite seguir trabajando fructuosamente, ya no sé qué elegir.
23 I am caught in this dilemma: I want to be gone and to be with Christ, and this is by far the strongerdesire-	23 Me siento urgido de ambas partes: deseo irme para estar con Cristo, porque es mucho mejor,
24 and yet for your sake to stay alive in this body is a more urgent need.	24 pero por el bien de ustedes es preferible que permanezca en este cuerpo.
25 This much I know for certain, that I shal stay and stand by you al , to encourage your advance andyour joy in the faith,	25 Tengo la plena convicción de que me quedaré y permaneceré junto a todos ustedes, para que progresen y se alegren en la fe.
26 so that my return to be among you may increase to overflowing your pride in Jesus Christ on myaccount.	26 De este modo, mi regreso y mi presencia entre ustedes les proporcionarán un nuevo motivo de orgullo en Cristo Jesús.
27 But you must always behave in a way that is worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come toyou and see for myself or whether I only hear al about you from a distance, I shall find that you are standing firmand united in spirit, battling, as a team with a single aim, for the faith of the gospel,	27 Solamente les pido que se comporten como dignos seguidores del Evangelio de Cristo. De esta manera, sea que yo vaya a verlos o que oiga hablar de ustedes estando ausente, sabré que perseveran en un mismo espíritu, luchando de común acuerdo y con un solo corazón por la fe del Evangelio,
28 undismayed by any of your opponents. This will be a clear sign, for them that they are to be lost, andfor you that you are to be saved.	28 y sin dejarse intimidar para nada por los adversarios. Este es un signo cierto de que ellos van a la ruina, y ustedes a la salvación. Esto procede de Dios,
29 This comes from God, for you have been granted the privilege for Christ's sake not only of believing inhim but of suffering for him as wel ;	29 que les ha concedido a ustedes la gracia, no solamente de creer en Cristo, sino también de sufrir por él,
30 you are fighting the same battle which you saw me fighting for him and which you hear I am fightingstill.	30 sosteniendo la misma lucha en la que ustedes me han visto empeñado y ahora saben que sigo sosteniendo.
