1 Corinthians 12

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 About the gifts of the Spirit, brothers, I want you to be quite certain.	1 Con relación a los dones espirituales, no quiero, hermanos, que ustedes vivan en la ignorancia.
2 You remember that, when you were pagans, you were irresistibly drawn to inarticulate heathen gods.	2 Ustedes saben que cuando todavía eran paganos, se dejaban arrastrar ciegamente al culto de dioses inanimados.
3 Because of that, I want to make it quite clear to you that no one who says 'A curse on Jesus' can bespeaking in the Spirit of God, and nobody is able to say, 'Jesus is Lord' except in the Holy Spirit.	3 Por eso les aseguro que nadie, movido por el Espíritu de Dios, puede decir: «Maldito sea Jesús». Y nadie puede decir: «Jesús es el Señor», si no está impulsado por el Espíritu Santo.
4 There are many different gifts, but it is always the same Spirit;	4 Ciertamente, hay diversidad de dones, pero todos proceden del mismo Espíritu.
5 there are many different ways of serving, but it is always the same Lord.	5 Hay diversidad de ministerios, pero un solo Señor.
6 There are many different forms of activity, but in everybody it is the same God who is at work in themal .	6 Hay diversidad de actividades, pero es el mismo Dios el que realiza todo en todos.
7 The particular manifestation of the Spirit granted to each one is to be used for the general good.	7 En cada uno, el Espíritu se manifiesta para el bien común.
8 To one is given from the Spirit the gift of utterance expressing wisdom; to another the gift of utteranceexpressing knowledge, in accordance with the same Spirit;	8 El Espíritu da a uno la sabiduría para hablar; a otro, la ciencia para enseñar, según el mismo Espíritu;
9 to another, faith, from the same Spirit; and to another, the gifts of healing, through this one Spirit;	9 a otro, la fe, también el mismo Espíritu. A este se le da el don de curar, siempre en ese único Espíritu;
10 to another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, the power of distinguishingspirits; to one, the gift of different tongues and to another, the interpretation of tongues.	10 a aquel, el don de hacer milagros; a uno, el don de profecía; a otro, el don de juzgar sobre el valor de los dones del Espíritu; a este, el don de lenguas; a aquel, el don de interpretarlas.
11 But at work in al these is one and the same Spirit, distributing them at wil to each individual.	11 Pero en todo esto, es el mismo y único Espíritu el que actúa, distribuyendo sus dones a cada uno en particular como él quiere.
12 For as with the human body which is a unity although it has many parts -- al the parts of the body,though many, stil making up one single body -- so it is with Christ.	12 Así como el cuerpo tiene muchos miembros, y sin embargo, es uno, y estos miembros, a pesar de ser muchos, no forman sino un solo cuerpo, así también sucede con Cristo.
13 We were baptised into one body in a single Spirit, Jews as wel as Greeks, slaves as wel as freemen, and we were all given the same Spirit to drink.	13 Porque todos hemos sido bautizados en un solo Espíritu para formar un solo Cuerpo –judíos y griegos, esclavos y hombres libres– y todos hemos bebido de un mismo Espíritu.
14 And indeed the body consists not of one member but of many.	14 El cuerpo no se compone de un solo miembro sino de muchos.
15 If the foot were to say, 'I am not a hand and so I do not belong to the body,' it does not belong to thebody any the less for that.	15 Si el pie dijera: «Como no soy mano, no formo parte del cuerpo», ¿acaso por eso no seguiría siendo parte de él?
16 Or if the ear were to say, 'I am not an eye, and so I do not belong to the body,' that would not stop itsbelonging to the body.	16 Y si el oído dijera: «Ya que no soy ojo, no formo parte del cuerpo», ¿acaso dejaría de ser parte de él?
17 If the whole body were just an eye, how would there be any hearing? If the whole body were hearing,how would there be any smel ing?	17 Si todo el cuerpo fuera ojo, ¿dónde estaría el oído? Y si todo fuera oído, ¿dónde estaría el olfato?
18 As it is, God has put al the separate parts into the body as he chose.	18 Pero Dios ha dispuesto a cada uno de los miembros en el cuerpo, según un plan establecido.
19 If they were al the same part, how could it be a body?	19 Porque si todos fueran un solo miembro, ¿dónde estaría el cuerpo?
20 As it is, the parts are many but the body is one.	20 De hecho, hay muchos miembros, pero el cuerpo es uno solo.
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you,' and nor can the head say to the feet, 'I haveno need of you.'	21 El ojo no puede decir a la mano: «No te necesito», ni la cabeza, a los pies: «No tengo necesidad de ustedes».
22 What is more, it is precisely the parts of the body that seem to be the weakest which are theindispensable ones.	22 Más aún, los miembros del cuerpo que consideramos más débiles también son necesarios,
23 It is the parts of the body which we consider least dignified that we surround with the greatest dignity;and our less presentable parts are given greater presentability	23 y los que consideramos menos decorosos son los que tratamos más decorosamente. Así nuestros miembros menos dignos son tratados con mayor respeto,
24 which our presentable parts do not need. God has composed the body so that greater dignity isgiven to the parts which were without it,	24 ya que los otros no necesitan ser tratados de esa manera. Pero Dios dispuso el cuerpo, dando mayor honor a los miembros que más lo necesitan,
25 and so that there may not be disagreements inside the body but each part may be equal y concernedfor all the others.	25 a fin de que no haya divisiones en el cuerpo, sino que todos los miembros sean mutuamente solidarios.
26 If one part is hurt, al the parts share its pain. And if one part is honoured, all the parts share its joy.	26 ¿Un miembro sufre? Todos los demás sufren con él. ¿Un miembro es enaltecido? Todos los demás participan de su alegría.
27 Now Christ's body is yourselves, each of you with a part to play in the whole.	27 Ustedes son el Cuerpo de Cristo, y cada uno en particular, miembros de ese Cuerpo.
28 And those whom God has appointed in the Church are, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdlyteachers; after them, miraculous powers, then gifts of healing, helpful acts, guidance, various kinds of tongues.	28 En la Iglesia, hay algunos que han sido establecidos por Dios, en primer lugar, como apóstoles; en segundo lugar, como profetas; en tercer lugar, como doctores. Después vienen los que han recibido el don de hacer milagros, el don de curar, el don de socorrer a los necesitados, el don de gobernar y el don de lenguas.
29 Are al of them apostles? Or all prophets? Or all teachers? Or al miracle-workers?	29 ¿Acaso todos son apóstoles? ¿Todos profetas? ¿Todos doctores? ¿Todos hacen milagros?
30 Do al have the gifts of healing? Do al of them speak in tongues and al interpret them?	30 ¿Todos tienen el don de curar? ¿Todos tienen el don de lenguas o el don de interpretarlas?
31 Set your mind on the higher gifts. And now I am going to put before you the best way of all.	31 Ustedes, por su parte, aspiren a los dones más perfectos. Y ahora voy a mostrarles un camino más perfecto todavía.
