1 It happened that at Iconium they went to the Jewish synagogue, in the same way, and they spoke soeffectively that a great many Jews and Greeks became believers.	1 Les choses se passèrent de la même façon à Iconium. Ils entrent à la synagogue des Juifs et ils parlent de telle façon qu’un grand nombre de Juifs et de Grecs croient;
2 (However, the Jews who refused to believe stirred up the gentiles against the brothers and set them inopposition.)	2 mais alors les Juifs qui n’ont pas cru excitent et indisposent les païens contre les frères.
3 Accordingly Paul and Barnabas stayed on for some time, preaching fearlessly in the Lord; and heattested al they said about his gift of grace, al owing signs and wonders to be performed by them.	3 Ils restèrent là un bon bout de temps, pleins d’assurance dans le Seigneur; il rendait témoignage à cette annonce de sa grâce par les signes et miracles qu’il opérait par leurs mains.
4 The people in the city were divided; some supported the Jews, others the apostles,	4 L’ensemble de la ville se divisa: les uns étaient pour les Juifs, les autres pour les apôtres.
5 but eventual y with the connivance of the authorities a move was made by gentiles as well as Jews tomake attacks on them and to stone them.	5 Il y eut un complot de païens et de Juifs, où participaient leurs chefs, pour les maltraiter et les tuer à coups de pierres.
6 When they came to hear of this, they went off for safety to Lycaonia where, in the towns of Lystra andDerbe and in the surrounding country,	6 Mis au courant, ils s’enfuirent vers les villes de Lycaonie: Lystres, Derbé et la région environnante.

8 There was a man sitting there who had never walked in his life, because his feet were crippled frombirth;	8 On pouvait voir à Lystres un homme impotent assis les jambes croisées. C’était un invalide de naissance: il n’avait jamais marché.
9 he was listening to Paul preaching, and Paul looked at him intently and saw that he had the faith to becured.	9 Tandis qu’il écoutait le discours de Paul, celui-ci le fixa du regard et vit qu’il avait la foi pour être sauvé.
10 Paul said in a loud voice, 'Get to your feet-stand up,' and the cripple jumped up and began to walk.	10 Alors il lui dit d’une voix forte: "Lève-toi, tiens-toi sur tes pieds!” Il se leva d’un bond et commença à marcher.
11 When the crowds saw what Paul had done they shouted in the language of Lycaonia, 'The gods havecome down to us in human form.'	11 En voyant ce que Paul venait de faire, la foule se mit à crier dans son dialecte, en lycaonien: "Les dieux ont pris forme humaine et sont descendus chez nous!”
12 They addressed Barnabas as Zeus, and since Paul was the principal speaker they cal ed himHermes.	12 Pour eux Barnabé était Zeus, et Paul, Hermès, car c’est lui qui parlait le plus.
13 The priests of Zeus-outside-the-Gate, proposing that al the people should offer sacrifice with them,brought garlanded oxen to the gates.	13 Le prêtre du Zeus de l’entrée de la ville amena des taureaux et des guirlandes, car il s’était mis d’accord avec la foule pour les offrir en sacrifice.
14 When the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard what was happening they tore their clothes, and rushedinto the crowd, shouting,	14 En entendant cela, les apôtres Barnabé et Paul déchirèrent leurs vêtements; ils se précipitèrent vers la foule en criant:
15 'Friends, what do you think you are doing? We are only human beings, mortal like yourselves. Wehave come with good news to make you turn from these empty idols to the living God who made sky and earthand the sea and all that these hold.	15 "Que faites-vous? Comme vous, nous sommes humains et mortels, et nous venons justement vous dire de laisser toutes ces choses sans valeur, et de vous tourner vers le Dieu vivant qui a fait le ciel et la terre ainsi que la mer, avec tout ce qu’ils contiennent.
16 In the past he al owed al the nations to go their own way;	16 Au cours des générations passées il a laissé les nations suivre chacune son chemin.
17 but even then he did not leave you without evidence of himself in the good things he does for you: hesends you rain from heaven and seasons of fruitfulness; he fil s you with food and your hearts with merriment.'	17 Mais en même temps il répandait ses bienfaits, car il ne voulait pas rester inconnaissable; c’est lui qui vous donne les pluies du ciel, la saison des récoltes, la nourriture abondante; c’est lui qui met la joie dans vos cœurs.”
18 With this speech they just managed to prevent the crowd from offering them sacrifice.	18 Paul et Barnabé développèrent ce thème; ils eurent bien du mal à empêcher la foule de leur offrir un sacrifice.
19 Then some Jews arrived from Antioch and Iconium and turned the people against them. They stonedPaul and dragged him outside the town, thinking he was dead.	19 Ils restèrent tout un temps en cet endroit, où ils enseignaient. Ensuite arrivèrent les Juifs d’Antioche de Pisidie. Ils parlèrent avec beaucoup d’assurance, affirmant qu’il n’y avait rien de vrai dans toute cette prédication, que tout était inventions. Ils surent amener la population à s’éloigner d’eux et finalement ils lapidèrent Paul. Ils le traînèrent hors de la ville pensant qu’il était mort.
20 The disciples came crowding round him but, as they did so, he stood up and went back to the town.The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe.	20 Mais alors ses disciples vinrent l’entourer; il se releva pour rentrer dans la ville, et le lendemain il sortit avec Barnabé pour Derbé.
21 Having preached the good news in that town and made a considerable number of disciples, they wentback through Lystra, Iconium and Antioch.	21 Ils évangélisèrent cette ville où ils firent un bon nombre de disciples, puis ils repartirent sur Lystres, Iconium et Antioche.
22 They put fresh heart into the disciples, encouraging them to persevere in the faith, saying, 'We mustal experience many hardships before we enter the kingdom of God.'	22 Ce faisant, ils affermissaient les disciples: "Persévérez dans la foi, leur disaient-ils, il nous faut passer par beaucoup d’épreuves pour entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.”
23 In each of these churches they appointed elders, and with prayer and fasting they commended themto the Lord in whom they had come to believe.	23 Ils établissaient des Anciens dans chaque Église - ils le faisaient avec jeûnes et prières, puis ils les confiaient au Seigneur en qui ils avaient cru.
24 They passed through Pisidia and reached Pamphylia.	24 Traversant toute la Pisidie ils atteignirent la Pamphylie.
25 Then after proclaiming the word at Perga they went down to Attalia	25 À Pergé ils annoncèrent la Parole, puis ils descendirent à Attalia.
26 and from there sailed for Antioch, where they had original y been commended to the grace of God forthe work they had now completed.	26 De là ils firent voile sur Antioche d’où ils avaient été recommandés à la grâce de Dieu pour cette mission qu’ils venaient de remplir.
27 On their arrival they assembled the church and gave an account of all that God had done with them,and how he had opened the door of faith to the gentiles.	27 À leur arrivée ils convoquèrent toute l’Église; ils racontèrent tout ce que Dieu avait fait avec eux et comment il avait ouvert aux peuples païens la porte de la foi.
28 They stayed there with the disciples for some time.	28 Ils restèrent là tout un temps avec les disciples.
