John 16

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 I have told you al this so that you may not fal away.	1 - Così vi ho parlato perchè non vi scandalizziate.
2 They wil expel you from the synagogues, and indeed the time is coming when anyone who kills youwil think he is doing a holy service to God.	2 Vi scacceranno dalle sinagoghe, anzi viene l'ora in cui chi vi ucciderà, penserà di rendere omaggio a Dio.
3 They wil do these things because they have never known either the Father or me.	3 E vi tratteranno così perchè non hanno conosciuto nè il Padre nè me.
4 But I have told you all this, so that when the time for it comes you may remember that I told you. I didnot tell you this from the beginning, because I was with you;	4 Ma io vi ho detto ciò, affinchè quando giungerà quell'ora, vi rammentiate che io ve ne ho parlato.
5 but now I am going to the one who sent me. Not one of you asks, 'Where are you going?'	5 Non ve ne parlai prima, perchè ero con voi. Ma ora vado a Colui che mi ha mandato; e nessuno di voi mi domanda: - Dove vai? -
6 Yet you are sad at heart because I have told you this.	6 E perchè vi ho detto ciò, la tristezza vi ha riempito il cuore.
7 Stil , I am telling you the truth: it is for your own good that I am going, because unless I go, theParaclete wil not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.	7 Tuttavia io vi dico in verità: È utile per voi che me ne vada, perchè se io non vado, il Paraclito non verrà a voi; ma se io me ne andrò, ve lo manderò.
8 And when he comes, he wil show the world how wrong it was, about sin, and about who was in theright, and about judgement:	8 E quando sarà venuto, accuserà il mondo di peccato, di giustizia e di giudizio;
9 about sin: in that they refuse to believe in me;	9 di peccato, perchè non hanno creduto in me;
10 about who was in the right: in that I am going to the Father and you will see me no more;	10 di giustizia, perchè vado al Padre e non mi vedrete più;
11 about judgement: in that the prince of this world is already condemned.	11 di giudizio, perchè il principe di questo mondo è già giudicato.
12 I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you to bear now.	12 Ho ancora molte cose da dirvi, ma per ora non potete sostenerle.
13 However, when the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth, since he wil not bespeaking of his own accord, but wil say only what he has been told; and he wil reveal to you the things to come.	13 Quando sarà venuto lo Spirito di verità, egli v'insegnerà tutta la verità; giacchè non parlerà da se stesso, ma vi dirà quanto udrà, e vi annunzierà le cose che dovranno succedere.
14 He wil glorify me, since al he reveals to you wil be taken from what is mine.	14 Egli mi glorificherà, perchè prenderà dal mio e ve lo annunzierà.
15 Everything the Father has is mine; that is why I said: all he reveals to you wil be taken from what ismine.	15 Tutto ciò che ha il Padre, è mio; perciò ho detto che prenderà dal mio e ve lo annunzierà.
16 In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again.	16 Ancora un poco e non mi vedrete; poi ancora un poco e mi vedrete, perchè io vado al Padre».
17 Then some of his disciples said to one another, 'What does he mean, "In a short time you wil nolonger see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again," and, "I am going to the Father"?	17 Alcuni dei suoi discepoli dissero però tra loro: «Che cosa è ciò che dice con questo suo: - Ancora un poco e non mi vedrete; poi ancora un poco e mi vedrete? - E: - Perchè vado al Padre?-».
18 What is this "short time"? We don't know what he means.'	18 E ripetevano: «Che cosa è ciò che dice: - Ancora un poco? - Noi non sappiamo di che cosa parli».
19 Jesus knew that they wanted to question him, so he said, 'You are asking one another what I meantby saying, "In a short time you wil no longer see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again."	19 Gesù capì che lo volevano interrogare e disse loro: «Voi vi domandate tra voi che cosa significhi quel mio dire: -Ancora un poco e non mi vedrete più; poi ancora un poco e mi vedrete?-
20 'In al truth I tell you, you wil be weeping and wailing while the world wil rejoice; you will be sorrowful,but your sorrow wil turn to joy.	20 In verità, in verità vi dico che voi piangerete e gemerete, e il mondo godrà; voi invece sarete nella tristezza, ma la vostra tristezza sarà cambiata in gioia.
21 A woman in childbirth suffers, because her time has come; but when she has given birth to the childshe forgets the suffering in her joy that a human being has been born into the world.	21 La donna, quando partorisce, prova dolori, perchè è giunta la sua ora; ma quando ha dato alla luce il bambino, non si ricorda più del suoi dolori, per la gioia che è nato al mondo un uomo.
22 So it is with you: you are sad now, but I shal see you again, and your hearts wil be ful of joy, andthat joy no one shal take from you.	22 Così voi pure sarete tristi, ma io vi rivedrò e il vostro cuore esulterà, e nessuno potrà rapirvi la vostra gioia.
23 When that day comes, you will not ask me any questions. In all truth I tel you, anything you ask fromthe Father he wil grant in my name.	23 In quel giorno non m'interrogherete più di nulla. In verità, in verità vi dico: Se voi domanderete qualche cosa al Padre mio in mio nome, Egli ve lo darà.
24 Until now you have not asked anything in my name. Ask and you wil receive, and so your joy wil becomplete.	24 Finora non avete domandato nulla in mio nome; domandate e riceverete, affinchè la vostra gioia sia piena.
25 I have been tel ing you these things in veiled language. The hour is coming when I shall no longerspeak to you in veiled language but tell you about the Father in plain words.	25 Vi ho detto queste cose in parabole; viene l'ora in cui non vi parlerò più in parabole, ma vi parlerò apertamente del Padre.
26 When that day comes you wil ask in my name; and I do not say that I shal pray to the Father for you,	26 In quel giorno domanderete in mio nome, e non dico che pregherò per voi il Padre,
27 because the Father himself loves you for loving me, and believing that I came from God.	27 poichè il Padre stesso vi ama, giacchè voi avete amato me e avete creduto che io sono uscito da Dio.
28 I came from the Father and have come into the world and now I am leaving the world to go to theFather.'	28 Io sono uscito dal Padre e venuto al mondo; di nuovo lascio il mondo e vado al Padre».
29 His disciples said, 'Now you are speaking plainly and not using veiled language.	29 I suoi discepoli gli dissero: «Ecco, ora tu parli chiaramente e non dici alcuna parabola;
30 Now we see that you know everything and need not wait for questions to be put into words; becauseof this we believe that you came from God.'	30 ora sappiamo che tu conosci tutto e che non hai bisogno d'esser interrogato; perciò crediamo che sei uscito da Dio».
31 Jesus answered them: Do you believe at last?	31 Gesù rispose loro: «Adesso voi credete?
32 Listen; the time wil come -- indeed it has come already -- when you are going to be scattered, eachgoing his own way and leaving me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.	32 Ecco, viene l'ora, anzi è già venuta, in cui voi sarete dispersi, ciascuno per conto suo, e mi lascerete solo; ma io non sono solo, perchè il Padre è con me.
33 I have told you al this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you wil have hardship, but becourageous: I have conquered the world.	33 Vi ho detto queste cose, perchè abbiate la pace in me. Nel mondo avrete tribolazioni; ma confidate; io ho vinto il mondo!».
