NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 'We then turned on Bashan and invaded that. And Og king of Bashan marched out against us, he andal his people, to give battle at Edrei.	1 - Partiti dunque, ci mettemmo per la via di Basan. Ed Og re di Basan ci venne incontro col suo popolo, per assalirci in Edrai.
2 Yahweh said to me, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have put him at your mercy, him, al his people andhis country. You will treat him as you treated Sihon king of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon."	2 Ma il Signore mi disse: -Non n'aver paura, perchè l'ho messo nelle tue mani con tutta la sua gente e la sua terra; farai a lui come facesti a Seon re degli Amorrei che dimorava in Hesebon.-
3 So, Yahweh our God put Og king of Bashan at our mercy too, with al his people. We beat him sothoroughly that nobody was left.	3 Dette dunque il Signore Dio nostro nelle nostre mani anche Og re di Basan, e tutto il suo popolo; e lo sconfiggemmo sino allo sterminio,
4 That was when we captured al his towns; there was not a town of theirs we did not take: sixty towns,the whole confederation of Argob, Og's kingdom in Bashan,	4 depredando insieme tutte le sue città. Non vi fu villaggio che ci sfuggisse. Erano sessanta città in tutta la regione d'Argob, del regno di Og in Basan,
5 all of them fortresses defended by high wal s and fortified with gates and bars, not to mention thePerizzite towns, which were very numerous.	5 tutte munite di mura altissime e di porte sprangate; oltre ad innumerevoli villaggi senza mura.
6 We laid them under the curse of destruction as we had done Sihon king of Heshbon, laying al thesetowns under the curse of destruction: men, women and children-	6 E li sterminammo, come avevamo fatto di Seon re di Hesebon, uccidendo in ogni città uomini, donne e fanciulli;
7 but we seized the livestock and spoils of the towns as booty for ourselves.	7 prendemmo per nostra preda gli animali, e le spoglie della città.
8 'Thus, by then we had taken the country of the two Amorite kings beyond the Jordan, stretching fromthe Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon	8 C'impossessammo in quel tempo del territorio di due re degli Amorrei di là dal Giordano, dal torrente Arnon al monte Hermon,
9 (the Sidonians call Hermon 'Sirion' and the Amorites cal it 'Senir'):	9 che i Sidonii chiamano Sarion e gli Amorrei Sanir;
10 al the towns of the tableland, all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, the capital citiesof Og in Bashan.	10 di tutte le città della pianura, di tutta la terra di Galaad e di Basan, sino a Selca ed Edrai città del regno di Og in Basan.
11 (Og king of Bashan was the last survivor of the Rephaim; his bed was the iron bed that can be seen atRabbah-of-the-Ammonites, nine cubits long and four wide, according to the human cubit.)	11 Era rimasto della stirpe de' giganti il solo Og re di Basan. Si mostra il suo letto di ferro, in Rabbat dei figliuoli di Ammon, ed ha nove cubiti di lunghezza e quattro di larghezza, alla misura d'un cubito di braccio di uomo.
12 'Then we took possession of this country, from Aroer on the Wadi Arnon. To the Reubenites andGadites I gave half the highlands of Gilead with its towns.	12 Prendemmo anche in quel tempo la terra che da Aroer, sulla riva del torrente Arnon, va a mezzo il monte di Galaad; e detti le sue città alle tribù di Ruben e di Gad.
13 To the half-tribe of Manasseh I gave the rest of Gilead and the whole of Bashan, Og's kingdom. (Thewhole confederation of Argob and the whole of Bashan is cal ed the country of the Rephaim.	13 La rimanente parte di Galaad, e tutto Basan del regno di Og, la detti a mezza tribù di Manasse: tutta la regione d'Argob. Tutto Basan è chiamato paese de' giganti.
14 Since Jair son of Manasseh occupied the whole confederation of Argob as far as the frontiers of theGeshurites and Maacathites, after him Bashan is called the Encampments of Jair even today.)	14 Iair figlio di Manasse ebbe in possesso tutta la regione di Argob sino ai confini di Gessuri e di Macati; dal suo nome, Basan fu chiamato Havot Jair, cioè I villaggi di Jair, sino ad oggi.
15 To Machir I gave Gilead.	15 A Machir poi assegnai Galaad.
16 To the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the region from Gilead to the Wadi Arnon, the middle of theravine marking the boundary, and up as far as the Jabbok, the ravine marking the frontier of the Ammonites.	16 Alle tribù di Ruben e di Gad detti dalla terra di Galaad sino al torrente Arnon, mezzo il torrente, e le adiacenze sino al torrente Ieboc che è il confine de' figliuoli d'Ammon,
17 The Arabah and the Jordan serve as frontiers from Chinnereth down to the Sea of the Arabah (theSalt Sea), at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah on the east.	17 sino alla pianura del deserto, ed al Giordano, da Ceneret sino al mare salatissimo del deserto, ed alle radici del monte Fasga verso oriente.
18 'I then gave you this order: "Yahweh your God has given you this country to be yours. Armed, everyone of you fit to fight must go ahead of your brothers the Israelites.	18 Allora io vi detti un ordine, e dissi [a quelle tre tribù]: - Il Signore Dio vostro vi dà questa terra in eredità. Voi tutti, uomini robusti, andate speditamente avanti ai vostri fratelli figli d'Israele,
19 Only your wives, your children and your flocks (you have many flocks, I know) must stay behind in thetowns which I have given you,	19 senza mogli e bambini e animali; so infatti che avete molto bestiame. Essi dovranno rimanere nelle città che v'ho assegnato,
20 until Yahweh has brought your brothers to rest as he has already brought you, and they too possessthe territory which Yahweh your God is giving them on the other side of the Jordan; after that, you can go home,each to the domain I have given you."	20 affinchè il Signore dia riposo a' vostri fratelli come l'ha dato a voi, e posseggano anch'essi la terra ch'egli è per dar loro al di là del Giordano. Allora ciascuno si stabilirà nel suo possesso da me datogli. -
21 I then gave Joshua this order, "You can see for yourself everything that Yahweh our God has done tothese two kings; Yahweh will do the same to al the kingdoms through which you pass.	21 Anche a Giosuè in quel tempo io parlai, e dissi: - I tuoi occhi han veduto che cos'ha fatto il Signore Dio vostro a quei due re; così farà di tutt'i regni pe' quali tu passerai.
22 Do not be afraid of them: Yahweh your God himself is fighting for you."	22 Non li temere; perchè il Signore Dio vostro combatterà per voi. -
23 'I then pleaded with Yahweh.	23 Allora anche pregai il Signore, dicendo:
24 "My Lord Yahweh," I said, "now that you have begun to reveal your greatness and your power to yourservant with works and mighty deeds no God in heaven or on earth can rival,	24 - Signore Iddio, tu hai cominciato a mostrare al tuo servo la tua grandezza, e la forza della tua mano; non v'è infatti altro Dio nè in cielo nè in terra che possa fare quel che tu fai, e star al paragone della tua forza.
25 may I not go across and see this fine country on the other side of the Jordan, that fine upland countryand the Lebanon?"	25 Che io passi dunque, e vegga questa terra fertilissima al di là del Giordano, quelle belle montagne, ed il Libano. -
26 But, because of you, Yahweh was angry with me and would not listen. "Enough!" he said, "Do notmention this subject again!	26 Ma il Signore, sdegnato con me per causa vostra, non mi esaudì, e mi disse: - Basta per te, non mi parlar più di questa cosa.
27 Climb to the top of Pisgah; turn your eyes to the west, the north, the south, the east. Look wel , foracross this Jordan you shall not go.	27 Sali alla vetta del Fasga; volgi gli occhi ad occidente, a tramontana, a mezzogiorno, ad oriente, e rimira; ma non passerai questo fiume del Giordano.
28 Give Joshua your instructions; encourage him, strengthen him; for he wil be the one to cross at thehead of this people; he wil be the one to bring them into possession of the country which you will see."	28 Da' gli ordini a Giosuè, incoraggialo e confortalo, perchè sarà egli che condurrà questo popolo, e dividerà fra loro quella terra che tu rimirerai. -
29 'We then stayed in the val ey, close to Beth-Peor.'	29 Ci fermammo dunque nella valle, di contro al tempio di Fogor.
