Deuteronomy 3

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 'We then turned on Bashan and invaded that. And Og king of Bashan marched out against us, he andal his people, to give battle at Edrei.	1 Luego nos volvimos y subimos por el camino de Basán. Og, rey de Basán, salió a nuestro encuentro con todo su pueblo y nos presentó batalla en Edreí.
2 Yahweh said to me, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have put him at your mercy, him, al his people andhis country. You will treat him as you treated Sihon king of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon."	2 Yahveh me dijo: «No le temas, porque yo le he entregado en tus manos con todo su pueblo y su país. Harás con él lo que hiciste son Sijón, el rey amorreo que habitaba en Jesbón».
3 So, Yahweh our God put Og king of Bashan at our mercy too, with al his people. We beat him sothoroughly that nobody was left.	3 Yahveh nuestro Dios entregó en nuestras manos también a Og, rey de Basán, con todo su pueblo. Le batimos hasta no dejarle ni un superviviente.
4 That was when we captured al his towns; there was not a town of theirs we did not take: sixty towns,the whole confederation of Argob, Og's kingdom in Bashan,	4 Nos apoderamos entonces de todas sus ciudades; no hubo ciudad que no les tomáramos: sesenta ciudades, toda la confederación de Argob, reino de Og en Basán,
5 all of them fortresses defended by high wal s and fortified with gates and bars, not to mention thePerizzite towns, which were very numerous.	5 plazas fuertes todas ellas, con altas murallas, puertas y cerrojos; sin contar las ciudades de los perizitas, en gran número.
6 We laid them under the curse of destruction as we had done Sihon king of Heshbon, laying al thesetowns under the curse of destruction: men, women and children-	6 Las consagramos al anatema, como habíamos hecho con Sijón, rey de Jesbón: anatema a toda ciudad: hombres, mujeres y niños;
7 but we seized the livestock and spoils of the towns as booty for ourselves.	7 aunque guardamos como botín todo el ganado y los despojos de estas ciudades.
8 'Thus, by then we had taken the country of the two Amorite kings beyond the Jordan, stretching fromthe Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon	8 Así tomamos entonces, de mano de los dos reyes amorreos, el país de Transjordania, desde el torrente Arnón hasta el monte Hermón
9 (the Sidonians call Hermon 'Sirion' and the Amorites cal it 'Senir'):	9 (los sidonios llaman al Hermón Siryón, y los amorreos lo llaman Senir):
10 al the towns of the tableland, all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, the capital citiesof Og in Bashan.	10 todas las ciudades de la Altiplanicie, todo Galaad y todo Basán hasta Salká y Edreí, ciudades del reino de Og en Basán.
11 (Og king of Bashan was the last survivor of the Rephaim; his bed was the iron bed that can be seen atRabbah-of-the-Ammonites, nine cubits long and four wide, according to the human cubit.)	11 (Og, rey de Basán, era el último superviviente de los refaítas: su lecho es el lecho de hierro que se halla en Rabbá de los ammonitas, de nueve codos de largo por cuatro de ancho, en codos corrientes.
12 'Then we took possession of this country, from Aroer on the Wadi Arnon. To the Reubenites andGadites I gave half the highlands of Gilead with its towns.	12 De este país tomamos posesión entonces: desde Aroer, a orillas del torrente Arnón, la mitad de la montaña de Galaad con sus ciudades se la di a los rubenitas y a los gaditas.
13 To the half-tribe of Manasseh I gave the rest of Gilead and the whole of Bashan, Og's kingdom. (Thewhole confederation of Argob and the whole of Bashan is cal ed the country of the Rephaim.	13 A la media tribu de Manasés le di el resto de Galaad y todo Basán, reino de Og: toda la confederación de Argob. (A todo este Basán es a lo que se llama el país de los refaítas.)
14 Since Jair son of Manasseh occupied the whole confederation of Argob as far as the frontiers of theGeshurites and Maacathites, after him Bashan is called the Encampments of Jair even today.)	14 Yaír, hijo de Manasés, se quedó con toda la confederación de Argob, hasta la frontera de los guesuritas y de los maakatitas, y dio a Basán su nombre que aún conserva: Aduares de Yaír.
15 To Machir I gave Gilead.	15 A Makir le di Galaad.
16 To the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the region from Gilead to the Wadi Arnon, the middle of theravine marking the boundary, and up as far as the Jabbok, the ravine marking the frontier of the Ammonites.	16 A los rubenitas y a los gaditas les di desde Galaad hasta el torrente Arnón - la mitad del torrente marcaba la frontera - y hasta el torrente Yabboq, frontera de los ammonitas.
17 The Arabah and the Jordan serve as frontiers from Chinnereth down to the Sea of the Arabah (theSalt Sea), at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah on the east.	17 La Arabá y el Jordán hacían de frontera, desde Kinnéret hasta el mar de la Arabá (el mar de la Sal), al pie de las laderas del Pisgá, al oriente.
18 'I then gave you this order: "Yahweh your God has given you this country to be yours. Armed, everyone of you fit to fight must go ahead of your brothers the Israelites.	18 Yo os ordené entonces: «Yahveh, vuestro Dios, os ha dado esta tierra en posesión. Vosotros pasaréis armados al frente de vuestros hermanos los israelitas, todos hombres de armas.
19 Only your wives, your children and your flocks (you have many flocks, I know) must stay behind in thetowns which I have given you,	19 Sólo vuestras mujeres, vuestros hijos y vuestros rebaños (pues sé que tenéis rebaños numerosos) quedarán en las ciudades que yo os he dado,
20 until Yahweh has brought your brothers to rest as he has already brought you, and they too possessthe territory which Yahweh your God is giving them on the other side of the Jordan; after that, you can go home,each to the domain I have given you."	20 hasta que Yahveh conceda reposo a vuestros hermanos, como a vosotros, y ellos también hayan tomado posesión de la tierra que Yahveh vuestro Dios les ha dado al otro lado del Jordán; entonces volveréis cada uno a la heredad que yo os he dado».
21 I then gave Joshua this order, "You can see for yourself everything that Yahweh our God has done tothese two kings; Yahweh will do the same to al the kingdoms through which you pass.	21 A Josué también le di entonces la orden siguiente: «Tus propios ojos han visto todo lo que Yahveh vuestro Dios ha hecho con estos dos reyes; lo mismo hará Yahveh con todos los reinos por donde vas a pasar.
22 Do not be afraid of them: Yahweh your God himself is fighting for you."	22 No les temáis, porque el mismo Yahveh vuestro Dios combate por vosotros».
23 'I then pleaded with Yahweh.	23 Entonces hice esta súplica a Yahveh:
24 "My Lord Yahweh," I said, "now that you have begun to reveal your greatness and your power to yourservant with works and mighty deeds no God in heaven or on earth can rival,	24 «Yahveh, Señor mío, tú has comenzado a manifestar a tu siervo tu grandeza y tu mano fuerte; pues ¿qué Dios hay, en los cielos ni en la tierra, que pueda hacer obras y proezas como las tuyas?
25 may I not go across and see this fine country on the other side of the Jordan, that fine upland countryand the Lebanon?"	25 Déjame, por favor, pasar y ver la tierra buena de allende el Jordán, esa buena montaña y el Líbano».
26 But, because of you, Yahweh was angry with me and would not listen. "Enough!" he said, "Do notmention this subject again!	26 Pero, por culpa vuestra, Yahveh se irritó contra mí y no me escuchó; antes bien me dijo: «¡Basta ya! No sigas hablándome de esto.
27 Climb to the top of Pisgah; turn your eyes to the west, the north, the south, the east. Look wel , foracross this Jordan you shall not go.	27 Sube a la cumbre del Pisgá, alza tus ojos al occidente, al norte, al mediodía y al oriente; y contempla con tu ojos, porque no pasarás ese Jordán.
28 Give Joshua your instructions; encourage him, strengthen him; for he wil be the one to cross at thehead of this people; he wil be the one to bring them into possession of the country which you will see."	28 Da tus órdenes a Josúe, dale ánimos y fortalécele, porque él pasará al frente de este pueblo: él le pondrá en posesión de esa tierra que ves».
29 'We then stayed in the val ey, close to Beth-Peor.'	29 Y nos quedamos, en el valle, enfrente de Bet Peor.
