Deuteronomy 3

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 'We then turned on Bashan and invaded that. And Og king of Bashan marched out against us, he andal his people, to give battle at Edrei.	1 Aztán megfordultunk, s felmentünk a Básán felé vivő úton. Ekkor kijött elénk Óg, Básán királya egész népével együtt, hogy megütközzék velünk Edráiban.
2 Yahweh said to me, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have put him at your mercy, him, al his people andhis country. You will treat him as you treated Sihon king of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon."	2 Ám az Úr azt mondta nekem: ‘Ne félj tőle, mert a kezedbe adom egész népével és földjével együtt. Tégy vele úgy, ahogy Szihonnal, az amoritáknak azzal a királyával tettél, aki Hesebonban lakott.’
3 So, Yahweh our God put Og king of Bashan at our mercy too, with al his people. We beat him sothoroughly that nobody was left.	3 Kezünkbe adta tehát az Úr, a mi Istenünk Ógot, Básán királyát is meg egész népét, s megvertük őket az utolsó szálig.
4 That was when we captured al his towns; there was not a town of theirs we did not take: sixty towns,the whole confederation of Argob, Og's kingdom in Bashan,	4 Ugyanakkor feldúltuk minden városát, úgy, hogy nem volt város, amely megmenekült volna tőlünk: hatvan várost, az egész árgobi vidéket, amely Óg básáni birodalmához tartozott –
5 all of them fortresses defended by high wal s and fortified with gates and bars, not to mention thePerizzite towns, which were very numerous.	5 ezek mind városok voltak, megerősítve igen magas falakkal, kapukkal és zárakkal –, azonkívül számtalan mezővárost, amelynek nem volt várfala.
6 We laid them under the curse of destruction as we had done Sihon king of Heshbon, laying al thesetowns under the curse of destruction: men, women and children-	6 Aztán eltöröltük őket, mint ahogy Szihonnal, Hesebon királyával tettünk: eltöröltünk valamennyi várost, férfit, asszonyt és gyermeket,
7 but we seized the livestock and spoils of the towns as booty for ourselves.	7 de az állatokat meg a városokból való prédát zsákmányul vittük.
8 'Thus, by then we had taken the country of the two Amorite kings beyond the Jordan, stretching fromthe Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon	8 Így vettük el abban az időben a földet az amoriták két királyának kezéből, akik a Jordánon túl voltak, az Arnon patakjától a Hermon hegyéig –
9 (the Sidonians call Hermon 'Sirion' and the Amorites cal it 'Senir'):	9 ezt a szidoniak Szárionnak hívják, az amoriták pedig Szánirnak –,
10 al the towns of the tableland, all Gilead, and all Bashan as far as Salecah and Edrei, the capital citiesof Og in Bashan.	10 a síkságon fekvő összes várost, s Gileádnak és Básánnak egész földjét Szelkáig és Edráiig, Óg básáni birodalmának városaiig.
11 (Og king of Bashan was the last survivor of the Rephaim; his bed was the iron bed that can be seen atRabbah-of-the-Ammonites, nine cubits long and four wide, according to the human cubit.)	11 Óg, Básán királya volt ugyanis már csak hátra az Óriások nemzetségéből; még mutogatják vasból való ágyát, amely Ammon fiainak Rabbátjában van: hossza kilenc könyöknyi, szélessége négy, a férfikar könyöktávolságának mértéke szerint.
12 'Then we took possession of this country, from Aroer on the Wadi Arnon. To the Reubenites andGadites I gave half the highlands of Gilead with its towns.	12 A földet, amelyet abban az időben elfoglaltunk, Ároertől, amely az Arnon patak partján van, egészen Gileád hegységének feléig, meg annak városait Rúbennek és Gádnak adtam.
13 To the half-tribe of Manasseh I gave the rest of Gilead and the whole of Bashan, Og's kingdom. (Thewhole confederation of Argob and the whole of Bashan is cal ed the country of the Rephaim.	13 Gileád többi részét pedig, és az egész Básánt, Óg országát, Árgob egész vidékét Manassze fél törzsének juttattam. – Az egész Básánt az Óriások földjének is hívják. –
14 Since Jair son of Manasseh occupied the whole confederation of Argob as far as the frontiers of theGeshurites and Maacathites, after him Bashan is called the Encampments of Jair even today.)	14 Jaír, Manassze fia kapta ugyanis Árgob egész vidékét, a gessúriták és a makátiták határáig, mire ő elnevezte Básánt a maga nevéről Hávót-Jaírnak, azaz Jaír falvainak, mind a mai napig,
15 To Machir I gave Gilead.	15 Mákirnak pedig Gileádot adtam.
16 To the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the region from Gilead to the Wadi Arnon, the middle of theravine marking the boundary, and up as far as the Jabbok, the ravine marking the frontier of the Ammonites.	16 Rúben és Gád törzsének adtam a Gileád földjétől az Arnon patakig, a patak közepéig terjedő földet meg ennek határterületét egészen a Jabbok patakig, amely Ammon fiainak határa,
17 The Arabah and the Jordan serve as frontiers from Chinnereth down to the Sea of the Arabah (theSalt Sea), at the foot of the slopes of Pisgah on the east.	17 meg a pusztai síkságot meg a Jordánt és keleti határterületét Kinnerettől a puszta tengeréig, azaz a Sós-tengerig, a Piszga hegy tövéig.
18 'I then gave you this order: "Yahweh your God has given you this country to be yours. Armed, everyone of you fit to fight must go ahead of your brothers the Israelites.	18 Ugyanakkor megparancsoltam nektek: Az Úr, a ti Istenetek odaadja nektek ezt a földet örökségül, de valamennyi vitézlő férfinak harcrakészen kell járnia a hadat testvéreiteknek, Izrael fiainak élén
19 Only your wives, your children and your flocks (you have many flocks, I know) must stay behind in thetowns which I have given you,	19 és csak feleségeitek, gyermekeitek és állataitok – mert tudom, hogy sok állatotok van – maradhatnak a városokban, amelyeket nektek adtam,
20 until Yahweh has brought your brothers to rest as he has already brought you, and they too possessthe territory which Yahweh your God is giving them on the other side of the Jordan; after that, you can go home,each to the domain I have given you."	20 míg nyugodalmat nem ad az Úr testvéreiteknek is, mint ahogyan nektek adott, s ők is el nem foglalják a földet, amelyet nekik a Jordánon túl fog adni. Akkor visszatérhet mindenki közületek birtokához, amelyet adtam nektek.
21 I then gave Joshua this order, "You can see for yourself everything that Yahweh our God has done tothese two kings; Yahweh will do the same to al the kingdoms through which you pass.	21 Józsuénak pedig meghagytam abban az időben: Szemed látta, mit tett az Úr, a ti Istenetek ezzel a két királlyal: így fog tenni minden országgal, ahova átmégy.
22 Do not be afraid of them: Yahweh your God himself is fighting for you."	22 Ne félj tőlük, mert az Úr, a ti Istenetek fog harcolni értetek.
23 'I then pleaded with Yahweh.	23 Könyörögtem ugyanis az Úrhoz abban az időben:
24 "My Lord Yahweh," I said, "now that you have begun to reveal your greatness and your power to yourservant with works and mighty deeds no God in heaven or on earth can rival,	24 Úr Isten, ha már elkezdted megmutatni szolgádnak nagyságodat és erős kezedet – nincs is más Isten sem égben, sem földön, aki végbevihetné a te cselekedeteidet és hasonlítható lenne a te hatalmadhoz –,
25 may I not go across and see this fine country on the other side of the Jordan, that fine upland countryand the Lebanon?"	25 hát akkor hadd menjek át, s hadd lássam meg azt a felette jó földet a Jordánon túl, azt a kiváló Hegyvidéket meg Libanont.
26 But, because of you, Yahweh was angry with me and would not listen. "Enough!" he said, "Do notmention this subject again!	26 Ám az Úr haragudott rám miattatok, s nem hallgatott meg, hanem azt mondta nekem: ‘Elég, ne is szólj többé nekem erről a dologról.
27 Climb to the top of Pisgah; turn your eyes to the west, the north, the south, the east. Look wel , foracross this Jordan you shall not go.	27 Menj fel a Piszga tetejére, s jártasd körül szemedet nyugatra és északra, délre és keletre, s tekintsd meg: mert te nem kelsz át ezen a Jordánon.
28 Give Joshua your instructions; encourage him, strengthen him; for he wil be the one to cross at thehead of this people; he wil be the one to bring them into possession of the country which you will see."	28 Bízd meg Józsuét, erősítsd és bátorítsd őt, mert ő megy majd ennek a népnek az élén, s ő osztja szét azt a földet, amelyet látni fogsz.’
29 'We then stayed in the val ey, close to Beth-Peor.'	29 Így maradtunk ebben a völgyben, Fogorral szemben.
