Deuteronomy 24

NEW JERUSALEM	Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
1 'Suppose a man has taken a wife and consummated the marriage; but she has not pleased him andhe has found some impropriety of which to accuse her; he has therefore made out a writ of divorce for her andhanded it to her and then dismissed her from his house;	1 «Se un uomo sposa una donna e agisce con lei da marito: se questa non incontra più favore ai suoi occhi perché egli ha trovato in lei qualcosa di indecente, egli le scriverà un atto di divorzio contro di lei, glielo consegnerà in mano e la manderà via dalla propria casa;
2 she leaves his home and goes away to become the wife of another man.	2 ed essa uscita dalla casa di lui, se ne è andata ed ha appartenuto a un altro uomo:
3 Then suppose this second man who has married her takes a dislike to her and makes out a writ ofdivorce for her and hands it to her and dismisses her from his house or if this other man who took her as his wifedies,	3 se questo secondo uomo la odierà, scriverà contro di lei un atto di divorzio, glielo consegnerà in mano e la manderà via dalla propria casa; oppure se morirà questo secondo uomo che l’aveva sposata:
4 her first husband, who has repudiated her, may not take her back as his wife now that she has beenmade unclean in this way. For that is detestable in Yahweh's eyes and you must not bring guilt on the countrywhich Yahweh your God is giving you as your heritage.	4 il primo marito che l’aveva mandata via, non potrà riprenderla in moglie, dopo che lei è stata così contaminata: ciò è un abominio al cospetto di Jahvè. Tu non devi far peccare la terra che Jahvè tuo Dio sta per assegnarti in eredità.
5 'If a man is newly married, he must not join the army, nor must he be pestered at home; he must beleft at home, free of al obligations for one year, to make his new wife happy.	5 Se un uomo si è appena sposato, non andrà nell’esercito né gli si imporrà alcuna incombenza: per un anno resterà libero, dedito alla propria casa per allietare la moglie che ha preso.
6 'No one may take a mil or a mil stone in pledge; that would be to take life itself in pledge.	6 Non si prenderà in pegno le due mole né la mola superiore: sarebbe un prendere in pegno la vita stessa.
7 'If anyone is caught, having kidnapped one of his brother-Israelites, whether he makes him his slaveor sel s him, that thief must die. You must banish this evil from among you.	7 Se un uomo rapisce uno dei suoi fratelli, dei figli di Israele, e agisce dispoticamente verso di lui e lo vende: tale ladro morirà e così sterminerai il male in mezzo a te.
8 'In a case of a virulent skin-disease, take care you faithful y observe and exactly carry out everythingthat the levitical priests direct you to do. You must keep and observe everything that I have commanded them.	8 In caso di lebbra guarda di osservare bene e adempiere interamente le direttive che vi impartiranno i sacerdoti leviti. Cercherete di agire secondo quanto io ho ordinato loro.
9 Remember what Yahweh your God did to Miriam when you were on your way out of Egypt.	9 Ricorda ciò che Jahvè tuo Dio ha fatto a Maria quando eravate sul cammino dell’uscita dall’Egitto.
10 'If you are making your brother a loan on pledge, you must not go into his house and seize thepledge, whatever it may be.	10 Se fai un prestito qualsiasi al tuo prossimo, non entrerai nella sua casa per prenderti un pegno.
11 You must stay outside, and the man to whom you are making the loan must bring the pledge out toyou.	11 Te ne starai fuori e l’uomo al quale tu fai il prestito di porterà il pegno al di fuori.
12 And if the man is poor, you must not go to bed with his pledge in your possession;	12 Ma se questi è un povero, tu non dormirai con il suo pegno:
13 you must return it to him at sunset so that he can sleep in his cloak and bless you; and it wil be anupright action on your part in God's view.	13 al tramonto del sole devi restituirgli il pegno affinché dorma sul proprio mantello e ti benedica; sarà per te una giustizia al cospetto di Jahvè tuo Dio.
14 'You must not exploit a poor and needy wage-earner, be he one of your brothers or a foreignerresident in your community.	14 Non defrauderai la mercede del povero e dell’indigente, né tra i tuoi fratelli né tra i forestieri che si trovano nella tua terra, dentro le tue città.
15 You must pay him his wages each day, not al owing the sun to set before you do, since he, beingpoor, needs them badly; otherwise he may appeal to Yahweh against you, and you would incur guilt.	15 Ogni giorno gli darai la sua mercede: su di essa non tramonterà il sole, poiché egli è povero e a essa rivolge il desiderio. Così non griderà a Jahvè contro di te e in te non ci sarà alcun peccato.
16 'Parents may not be put to death for their children, nor children for parents, but each must be put todeath for his own crime.	16 I padri non saranno messi a morte a causa dei figli né i figli saranno messi a morte a causa dei padri: ognuno sarà messo a morte per il proprio peccato.
17 'You must not infringe the rights of the foreigner or the orphan; you must not take a widow's clothesin pledge.	17 Non violerai il diritto del forestiero e dell’orfano né prenderai in pegno la veste della vedova.
18 Remember that you were once a slave in Egypt and that Yahweh your God redeemed you from that.That is why I am giving you this order.	18 Ricordati che sei stato schiavo in Egitto e Jahvè tuo Dio ti ha liberato: perciò ti prescrivo di compiere tale cosa.
19 'If, when reaping the harvest in your field, you overlook a sheaf in that field, do not go back for it. Theforeigner, the orphan and the widow shal have it, so that Yahweh your God may bless you in al yourundertakings.	19 Quando mieterai la messe del tuo campo, se nel campo dimenticherai un covone, non ritornare a prenderlo: sarà per il forestiero, per l’orfano e per la vedova, affinché Jahvè tuo Dio ti possa benedire in ogni lavoro delle tue mani.
20 'When you beat your olive tree, you must not go over the branches twice. The foreigner, the orphanand the widow shall have the rest.	20 Quando abbacchierai il tuo olivo, non ne ripasserai la punta e i rami: sarà per il forestiero, per l’orfano e per la vedova.
21 'When you harvest your vineyard, you must not pick it over a second time. The foreigner, the orphanand the widow shall have the rest.	21 Quando vendemmierai la tua vigna, non tornerai indietro a racimolare: sarà per il forestiero, per l’orfano e per la vedova.
22 'Remember that you were once a slave in Egypt. That is why I am giving you this order.'	22 Ricorda che sei stato schiavo in Egitto: perciò ti prescrivo di compiere tale cosa».
