Deuteronomy 24

1 'Suppose a man has taken a wife and consummated the marriage; but she has not pleased him andhe has found some impropriety of which to accuse her; he has therefore made out a writ of divorce for her andhanded it to her and then dismissed her from his house;	1 Se un uomo prende moglie, e la tien seco, ma ella non è amata da lui per qualche cosa di turpe, scriverà un libello di ripudio, e porrallo in mano a lei, e la manderà via di sua casa.
2 she leaves his home and goes away to become the wife of another man.	2 E se questa dopo che se n'è andata, prende altro marito,
3 Then suppose this second man who has married her takes a dislike to her and makes out a writ ofdivorce for her and hands it to her and dismisses her from his house or if this other man who took her as his wifedies,	3 E questi ancora la prende in avversione, e le dà il libello del ripudio, e la manda via di casa sua, ovvero sia venuto a morire;
4 her first husband, who has repudiated her, may not take her back as his wife now that she has beenmade unclean in this way. For that is detestable in Yahweh's eyes and you must not bring guilt on the countrywhich Yahweh your God is giving you as your heritage.	4 Non potrà il primo marito prenderla di nuovo per moglie: perocché ella è contaminata, ed è divenuta abbominevole dinanzi al Signore: onde tu non contaminare la terra, di cui il Signore Dio tuo ti darà il possesso.
5 'If a man is newly married, he must not join the army, nor must he be pestered at home; he must beleft at home, free of al obligations for one year, to make his new wife happy.	5 Se un uomo poco tempo prima ha preso moglie, non andrà alla guerra, né saragli imposta veruna pubblica incumbenza, ma saragli lecito di badare a casa sua, onde per un anno stiasi lieto colla sua moglie.
6 'No one may take a mil or a mil stone in pledge; that would be to take life itself in pledge.	6 Non porterai via in luogo di pegno la macina inferiore, e la superiore, che così uno verrebbe a impegnare a te la propria vita.
7 'If anyone is caught, having kidnapped one of his brother-Israelites, whether he makes him his slaveor sel s him, that thief must die. You must banish this evil from among you.	7 Se si verrà a scoprire, che un uomo ha subornato un suo fratello dei figliuoli d'Israele, e che vendutolo, ne ha ricevuto il prezzo, ei sarà messo a morte: e torrai di mezzo a te l'iniquità.
8 'In a case of a virulent skin-disease, take care you faithful y observe and exactly carry out everythingthat the levitical priests direct you to do. You must keep and observe everything that I have commanded them.	8 Guardati diligentemente dal pericolo di tirarli addosso la piaga della lebbra: ma usa tutte quelle cose, che ti saranno insegnate da' sacerdoti della stirpe di Levi, secondo i precetti dati loro da me, e mettile in pratica con esattezza.
9 Remember what Yahweh your God did to Miriam when you were on your way out of Egypt.	9 Ricordatevi di quello che il Signore Dio vostro fece a Maria per viaggio, quando voi uscivate dall'Egitto.
10 'If you are making your brother a loan on pledge, you must not go into his house and seize thepledge, whatever it may be.	10 Quando tu richiederai dal tuo prossimo qualche cosa, ch’ei dee darti, non entrerai in casa sua a prendere il pegno:
11 You must stay outside, and the man to whom you are making the loan must bring the pledge out toyou.	11 Ma te ne starai fuora, ed egli ti porterà fuori quello che avrà:
12 And if the man is poor, you must not go to bed with his pledge in your possession;	12 E se poi egli è povero, il pegno non pernotterà in tua casa,
13 you must return it to him at sunset so that he can sleep in his cloak and bless you; and it wil be anupright action on your part in God's view.	13 Ma subito glielo renderai prima del tramontare del sole: affinché dormendo nella sua veste, ti benedica, e tu abbi meritato dinanzi al Signore Dio tuo.
14 'You must not exploit a poor and needy wage-earner, be he one of your brothers or a foreignerresident in your community.	14 Non negherai la mercede all’indigente, e al povero tuo fratello, e al forestiero, che abita teco nel tuo paese, e dentro la tua città:
15 You must pay him his wages each day, not al owing the sun to set before you do, since he, beingpoor, needs them badly; otherwise he may appeal to Yahweh against you, and you would incur guilt.	15 Ma lo stesso dì gli pagherai il salario delle sue fatiche prima del tramontare del sole, perché egli è povero e con questo sostenta la sua vita: affinché egli non alzi le strida al Signore contro di te, e ti sia imputato a peccato.
16 'Parents may not be put to death for their children, nor children for parents, but each must be put todeath for his own crime.	16 Non saran messi a morte i padri pe' loro figliuoli, né i figliuoli pei padri, ma ciascuno per lo peccato proprio morrà.
17 'You must not infringe the rights of the foreigner or the orphan; you must not take a widow's clothesin pledge.	17 Non disfavorirai la causa del forestiero, e del pupillo, né prenderai per pegno dalla vedova la sua veste.
18 Remember that you were once a slave in Egypt and that Yahweh your God redeemed you from that.That is why I am giving you this order.	18 Ricordati, che tu fosti schiavo in Egitto, e di là ti trasse il Signore Dio tuo. Per questo io ti ordino di far così.
19 'If, when reaping the harvest in your field, you overlook a sheaf in that field, do not go back for it. Theforeigner, the orphan and the widow shal have it, so that Yahweh your God may bless you in al yourundertakings.	19 Quando mieterai le biade nel tuo campo, se ti scordi d'un manipolo, non tornare indietro a pigliarlo: ma lascialo pigliare al forestiero, al pupillo, e alla vedova, affinché il Signore Dio tuo benedica tutte le opere delle tue mani.
20 'When you beat your olive tree, you must not go over the branches twice. The foreigner, the orphanand the widow shall have the rest.	20 Se raccogli le ulive, non tornerai a pigliare quel che è rimaso sulle piante: ma lascialo al forestiero, al pupillo, e alla vedova.
21 'When you harvest your vineyard, you must not pick it over a second time. The foreigner, the orphanand the widow shall have the rest.	21 Se vendemmi la tua vigna, non prenderai i raspolli, ma rimarranno pel forestiero, pel pupillo, e per la vedova.
22 'Remember that you were once a slave in Egypt. That is why I am giving you this order.'	22 Ricordati, che già tu fosti schiavo in Egitto, e per questo io ti ordino di far così.
