Luke 8

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Now it happened that after this he made his way through towns and villages preaching and proclaimingthe good news of the kingdom of God. With him went the Twelve,	1 Un po' di tempo dopo egli se ne andava per le città e i villaggi predicando e annunziando la buona novella del regno di Dio. Vi erano con lui i Dodici
2 as wel as certain women who had been cured of evil spirits and ailments: Mary surnamed theMagdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,	2 e anche alcune donne che erano state guarite da spiriti cattivi e da infermità: Maria di Màgdala, dalla quale erano usciti sette demòni,
3 Joanna the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out oftheir own resources.	3 Giovanna moglie di Cusa, amministratore di Erode, Susanna e molte altre. Esse li servivano con i loro beni.
4 With a large crowd gathering and people from every town finding their way to him, he told this parable:	4 Un giorno si radunò una gran folla intorno a lui e a quelli che accorrevano a lui da ogni città; egli disse questa parabola:
5 'A sower went out to sow his seed. Now as he sowed, some fel on the edge of the path and wastrampled on; and the birds of the air ate it up.	5 "Il seminatore uscì a seminare la sua semente. Mentre seminava, una parte cadde sulla strada, fu calpestata e gli uccelli del cielo la mangiarono.
6 Some seed fell on rock, and when it came up it withered away, having no moisture.	6 Un'altra parte andò a finire sulla pietra e, appena germogliata, inaridì per mancanza di umidità.
7 Some seed fell in the middle of thorns and the thorns grew with it and choked it.	7 Un'altra parte cadde in mezzo alle spine e le spine, cresciute insieme con essa, la soffocarono.
8 And some seed fell into good soil and grew and produced its crop a hundredfold.' Saying this he cried,'Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!'	8 Una parte invece cadde sulla terra buona; i semi germogliarono e produssero cento volte tanto". 9 His disciples asked him what this parable might mean,	9 I suoi discepoli gli domandarono che parabola fosse questa.
10 and he said, 'To you is granted to understand the secrets of the kingdom of God; for the rest it remainsin parables, so that they may look but not perceive, listen but not understand.	10 Egli rispose: "A voi è dato conoscere i misteri del regno di Dio, agli altri invece solo in parabole, perché guardando non vedano e ascoltando non intendano.
11 'This, then, is what the parable means: the seed is the word of God.	11 Il significato della parabola è questo: il seme è la parola di Dio.
12 Those on the edge of the path are people who have heard it, and then the devil comes and carriesaway the word from their hearts in case they should believe and be saved.	12 I semi caduti sulla strada indicano coloro che l'hanno ascoltata, ma poi viene il diavolo e porta via la parola dai loro cuori, perché non credano e si salvino.
13 Those on the rock are people who, when they first hear it, welcome the word with joy. But these haveno root; they believe for a while, and in time of trial they give up.	13 Quelli caduti sulla pietra indicano coloro che, quando ascoltano la parola, l'accolgono con gioia, ma non hanno radici; credono per un certo tempo, ma nel tempo della prova defezionano.
14 As for the part that fell into thorns, this is people who have heard, but as they go on their way they arechoked by the worries and riches and pleasures of life and never produce any crops.	14 I semi caduti fra le spine indicano coloro che, dopo aver ascoltato, cammin facendo si lasciano prendere dalle preoccupazioni, dalla ricchezza e dai piaceri della vita e rimangono senza frutto.
15 As for the part in the rich soil, this is people with a noble and generous heart who have heard the wordand take it to themselves and yield a harvest through their perseverance.	15 I semi caduti sulla terra buona indicano coloro che, dopo aver ascoltato la parola con cuore nobile e buono, la trattengono e producono frutto con la loro perseveranza".
16 'No one lights a lamp to cover it with a bowl or to put it under a bed. No, it is put on a lamp-stand sothat people may see the light when they come in.	16 "Nessuno accende una lucerna e la copre con un vaso o la pone sotto il letto, ma la mette su un lampadario, perché chi entra veda la luce.
17 For nothing is hidden but it will be made clear, nothing secret but it will be made known and brought tolight.	17 Non c'è niente di occulto che non sarà manifestato, nulla di segreto che non sarà portato alla luce.
18 So take care how you listen; anyone who has, wil be given more; anyone who has not, wil bedeprived even of what he thinks he has.'	18 Fate attenzione, dunque, a come ascoltate: perché a chi ha sarà dato, a chi invece non ha sarà tolto anche quello che crede di avere".
19 His mother and his brothers came looking for him, but they could not get to him because of the crowd.	19 La madre e i fratelli andarono un giorno a trovarlo, ma non potevano avvicinarlo per causa della folla.
20 He was told, 'Your mother and brothers are standing outside and want to see you.'	20 Gli fecero sapere: "Tua madre e i tuoi fratelli sono qui fuori e desiderano vederti".
21 But he said in answer, 'My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and put it intopractice.'	21 Ma egli disse loro: "Mia madre e miei fratelli sono coloro che ascoltano la parola di Dio e la mettono in pratica".
22 It happened that one day he got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, 'Let us cross over tothe other side of the lake.' So they set out,	22 Un giorno salì su una barca con i suoi discepoli e disse loro: "Andiamo all'altra riva del lago". Presero il largo.
23 and as they sailed he fel asleep. When a squall of wind came down on the lake the boat startedshipping water and they found themselves in danger.	23 Mentre navigavano, egli si addormentò. Sul lago il vento si mise a soffiare molto forte, la barca si riempiva d'acqua ed erano in pericolo.
24 So they went to rouse him saying, 'Master! Master! We are lost!' Then he woke up and rebuked thewind and the rough water; and they subsided and it was calm again.	24 Accostatisi a lui, lo svegliarono dicendo: "Maestro, Maestro, siamo in pericolo di vita!". Egli, destatosi, sgridò il vento e i flutti minacciosi; essi cessarono e ci fu una gran calma.
25 He said to them, 'Where is your faith?' They were awestruck and astounded and said to one another,'Who can this be, that gives orders even to winds and waves and they obey him?'	25 Allora disse loro: "Dov'è la vostra fede?". Ed essi, presi da timore e da meraviglia, si dicevano l'un l'altro: "Chi è dunque costui che comanda ai venti e all'acqua e gli obbediscono?".
26 They came to land in the territory of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.	26 Poi approdarono nella regione dei Geraseni che sta di fronte alla Galilea.
27 He was stepping ashore when a man from the city who was possessed by devils came towards him;for a long time the man had been living with no clothes on, not in a house, but in the tombs.	27 Era appena sceso a terra, quando dalla città gli venne incontro un uomo posseduto dai demòni. Da molto tempo non portava vestiti e non abitava in una casa, ma tra i sepolcri.
28 Catching sight of Jesus he gave a shout, fel at his feet and cried out at the top of his voice, 'What doyou want with me, Jesus, son of the Most High God? I implore you, do not torture me.'	28 Quando vide Gesù, gli si gettò ai piedi urlando; poi disse a gran voce: "Che vi è tra me e te, Gesù, Figlio del Dio Altissimo? Ti prego, non tormentarmi!".
29 For Jesus had been tel ing the unclean spirit to come out of the man. It had seized on him a greatmany times, and then they used to secure him with chains and fetters to restrain him, but he would always breakthe fastenings, and the devil would drive him out into the wilds.	29 Gesù stava appunto ordinando allo spirito cattivo di uscire da quell'uomo. Molte volte infatti quello spirito si era impossessato di lui; allora lo legavano con catene e lo custodivano in ceppi, ma egli riusciva a spezzare i legami e dal demonio veniva spinto in luoghi deserti.
30 Jesus asked him, 'What is your name?' He said, 'Legion' -- because many devils had gone into him.	30 Gesù gli domandò: "Che nome hai?". Gli rispose: "Legione è il mio nome". Infatti molti demòni erano entrati in lui
31 And these begged him not to order them to depart into the Abyss.	31 e lo supplicavano che non comandasse loro di andare nell'abisso.
32 Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding there on the mountain, and the devils begged him to letthem go into these. So he gave them leave.	32 In quel luogo c'era una grande mandria di porci che pascolava sul monte. Gli chiesero che permettesse loro di entrare nei porci, ed egli lo permise loro.
33 The devils came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd charged down the cliff into thelake and was drowned.	33 I demòni allora uscirono da quell'uomo ed entrarono nei porci e tutti quegli animali presero a correre a precipizio dalla rupe, andarono a finire nel lago e annegarono.
34 When the swineherds saw what had happened they ran off and told their story in the city and in thecountry round about;	34 I mandriani, quando videro quel che era accaduto, fuggirono e andarono a portare la notizia nella città e nei villaggi.
35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus they found the manfrom whom the devils had gone out sitting at the feet of Jesus, wearing clothes and in his right mind; and theywere afraid.	35 La gente uscì per vedere ciò che era accaduto e, quando arrivarono da Gesù, trovarono l'uomo dal quale erano usciti i demòni che stava ai piedi di Gesù, vestito e sano di mente. Allora furono presi da spavento.
36 Those who had witnessed it told them how the man who had been possessed came to be saved.	36 Quelli che avevano visto tutto, riferirono come l'indemoniato era stato guarito.
37 The entire population of the Gerasene territory was in great fear and asked Jesus to leave them. So hegot into the boat and went back.	37 Allora tutta la popolazione del territorio dei Geraseni pregò Gesù di andarsene da loro, perché avevano molta paura. Gesù, salito su una barca, tornò indietro.
38 The man from whom the devils had gone out asked to be al owed to stay with him, but he sent himaway saying,	38 Intanto l'uomo dal quale erano usciti i demòni gli chiese di restare con lui, ma egli lo congedò dicendogli:
39 'Go back home and report al that God has done for you.' So the man went off and proclaimedthroughout the city al that Jesus had done for him.	39 "Torna a casa tua e racconta quello che Dio ti ha fatto". L'uomo se ne andò e proclamò per tutta la città quello che Gesù aveva fatto per lui.
40 On his return Jesus was welcomed by the crowd, for they were al there waiting for him.	40 Quando fece ritorno, Gesù fu accolto dalla folla: infatti erano tutti in attesa di lui.
41 And suddenly there came a man named Jairus, who was president of the synagogue. He fel at Jesus'feet and pleaded with him to come to his house,	41 Venne allora un uomo, di nome Giàiro, che era capo della sinagoga. Gettatosi ai piedi di Gesù, lo supplicava di andare a casa sua,
42 because he had an only daughter about twelve years old, who was dying. And the crowds were almoststifling Jesus as he went.	42 perché aveva un'unica figlia di circa dodici anni che stava per morire. Mentre vi si dirigeva, la folla lo premeva da ogni parte.
43 Now there was a woman suffering from a haemorrhage for the past twelve years, whom no one hadbeen able to cure.	43 E una donna che da dodici anni soffriva di continue perdite di sangue e che nessuno era riuscito a guarire,
44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak; and the haemorrhage stopped at thatvery moment.	44 gli si avvicinò e toccò la frangia del suo mantello, e subito il flusso di sangue si arrestò.
45 Jesus said, 'Who was it that touched me?' When they al denied it, Peter said, 'Master, it is the crowdsround you, pushing.'	45 Gesù disse: "Chi mi ha toccato?". Tutti lo negavano. Perciò Pietro disse: "Maestro, la folla ti stringe da ogni parte e ti schiaccia".
46 But Jesus said, 'Somebody touched me. I felt that power had gone out from me.'	46 Ma Gesù disse: "Qualcuno mi ha toccato. Ho sentito che una potenza è uscita da me".
47 Seeing herself discovered, the woman came forward trembling, and fal ing at his feet explained in frontof al the people why she had touched him and how she had been cured at that very moment.	47 La donna, allora, rendendosi conto che non poteva rimanere nascosta, si fece avanti tremante, si gettò ai suoi piedi e dichiarò davanti a tutto il popolo per qual motivo l'aveva toccato e come era stata guarita.
48 'My daughter,' he said, 'your faith has saved you; go in peace.'	48 Egli le disse: "Figlia, la tua fede ti ha salvata. Va' in pace!".
49 While he was stil speaking, someone arrived from the house of the president of the synagogue to say,'Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Master any further.'	49 Mentre parlava, arrivò uno dalla casa del capo della sinagoga e gli disse: "Tua figlia è morta, non importunare il maestro".
50 But Jesus heard this, and he spoke to the man, 'Do not be afraid, only have faith and she wil besaved.'	50 Ma Gesù, che aveva udito, disse: "Non temere; soltanto abbi fede ed ella sarà salvata".
51 When he came to the house he al owed no one to go in with him except Peter and John and James,and the child's father and mother.	51 Quando giunse alla casa non permise a nessuno di entrare con sé, eccetto Pietro, Giovanni e Giacomo, e il padre e la madre della fanciulla.
52 They were all crying and mourning for her, but Jesus said, 'Stop crying; she is not dead, but asleep.'	52 Tutti piangevano e facevano lamenti per la fanciulla. Gesù disse: "Non piangete: ella non è morta, ma dorme".
53 But they ridiculed him, knowing she was dead.	53 Quelli lo deridevano, sapendo bene che era morta;
54 But taking her by the hand himself he spoke to her, 'Child, get up.'	54 ma egli, prendendole la mano, disse ad alta voce: "Fanciulla, àlzati!".
55 And her spirit returned and she got up at that very moment. Then he told them to give her something toeat.	55 La fanciulla ritornò in vita e all'istante si alzò. Egli ordinò di darle da mangiare.
56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tel anyone what had happened.	56 I genitori rimasero sbalorditi, ma egli raccomandò loro di non far sapere a nessuno quello che era accaduto.
