1 Now it happened that after this he made his way through towns and villages preaching and proclaimingthe good news of the kingdom of God. With him went the Twelve,	1 ויהי אחרי כן ויעבר מעיר אל עיר ומכפר אל כפר קורא ומבשר את מלכות האלהים ושנים העשר אתו
2 as wel as certain women who had been cured of evil spirits and ailments: Mary surnamed theMagdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,	2 ונשים אשר נרפאו מרוחות רעות ומחליים מרים הנקראה מגדלית אשר גרשו ממנה שבעה שדים
3 Joanna the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out oftheir own resources.	3 ויוחנה אשת כוזא סוכן הורדוס ושושנה ואחרות רבות אשר שרתהו מנכסיהן
4 With a large crowd gathering and people from every town finding their way to him, he told this parable:	4 ויהי בהתאסף המון עם רב אשר יצאו אליו מעיר ועיר וידבר במשל
5 'A sower went out to sow his seed. Now as he sowed, some fel on the edge of the path and wastrampled on; and the birds of the air ate it up.	5 הזורע יצא לזרע את זרעו ובזרעו נפל מן הזרע על יד הדרך וירמס ועוף השמים אכלו
6 Some seed fell on rock, and when it came up it withered away, having no moisture.	6 ויש אשר נפל על הסלע ויצמח וייבש כי לא היתה לו לחה
7 Some seed fell in the middle of thorns and the thorns grew with it and choked it.	7 ויש אשר נפל בתוך הקצים ויצמחו הקצים עמו וימעכהו
8 And some seed fell into good soil and grew and produced its crop a hundredfold.' Saying this he cried,'Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!'	8 ויש אשר נפל על האדמה הטובה ויצמח ויעש פרי מאה שערים כזאת דבר ויזעק מי אשר אזנים לו לשמע ישמע
9 His disciples asked him what this parable might mean,	9 וישאלהו תלמידיו לאמר מה המשל הזה
10 and he said, 'To you is granted to understand the secrets of the kingdom of God; for the rest it remainsin parables, so that they may look but not perceive, listen but not understand.	10 ויאמר לכם נתן לדעת את סודות מלכות האלהים ולאחרים במשלים למען בראתם לא יראו ובשמעם לא יבינו
11 'This, then, is what the parable means: the seed is the word of God.	11 וזה הוא המשל הזרע דבר אלהים הוא
12 Those on the edge of the path are people who have heard it, and then the devil comes and carriesaway the word from their hearts in case they should believe and be saved.	12 ואשר על יד הדרך הם השמעים ואחר כן בא השטן ונשא את הדבר מלבם פן יאמינו ונושעו
13 Those on the rock are people who, when they first hear it, welcome the word with joy. But these haveno root; they believe for a while, and in time of trial they give up.	13 ואשר על הסלע הם המקבלים בשמחה את הדבר בשמעם ושרש אין להם רק לשעה מאמינים ובעת הנסיון יסגו אחור
14 As for the part that fell into thorns, this is people who have heard, but as they go on their way they arechoked by the worries and riches and pleasures of life and never produce any crops.	14 ואשר נפל בין הקצים הם השמעים והוליכם להם וימכו בדאגות ובעשר ובתאות החיים ופרי לא ישוו למו
15 As for the part in the rich soil, this is people with a noble and generous heart who have heard the wordand take it to themselves and yield a harvest through their perseverance.	15 ואשר באדמה הטובה הם השמרים בלב טוב וטהור את הדבר אשר שמעו ועשים פרי בתוחלת
16 'No one lights a lamp to cover it with a bowl or to put it under a bed. No, it is put on a lamp-stand sothat people may see the light when they come in.	16 ואין איש מדליק נר אשר יכסה אותו בכלי או ישימהו תחת המטה כי אם על המנורה יעלהו למען יראו כל באי הבית את האור
17 For nothing is hidden but it will be made clear, nothing secret but it will be made known and brought tolight.	17 כי אין דבר נעלם אשר לא יגלה ואין גנוז אשר לא יודע ובא לאור
18 So take care how you listen; anyone who has, wil be given more; anyone who has not, wil bedeprived even of what he thinks he has.'	18 לכן ראו איך תשמעון כי כל אשר יש לו נתון ינתן לו וכל אשר אין לו גם את אשר הוא חשב להיות לו יקח ממנו
19 His mother and his brothers came looking for him, but they could not get to him because of the crowd.	19 ויבאו אליו אמו ואחיו ולא יכלו לגשת אליו מפני העם
20 He was told, 'Your mother and brothers are standing outside and want to see you.'	20 ויגד לו לאמר אמך ואחיך עמדים בחוץ והם חפצים לראותך
21 But he said in answer, 'My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and put it intopractice.'	21 ויען ויאמר אליהם אמי ואחי הם השמעים ועשים את דבר האלהים
22 It happened that one day he got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, 'Let us cross over tothe other side of the lake.' So they set out,	22 ויהי היום וירד אל אניה הוא ותלמידיו ויאמר אליהם נעברה אל עבר הים וישוטו הימה
23 and as they sailed he fel asleep. When a squall of wind came down on the lake the boat startedshipping water and they found themselves in danger.	23 ויהי בלכתם באניה וישכב ויישן ורוח סערה ירדה על הים וישטפו עליהם המים ויהיו בסכנה
24 So they went to rouse him saying, 'Master! Master! We are lost!' Then he woke up and rebuked thewind and the rough water; and they subsided and it was calm again.	24 ויגשו ויעירו אותו לאמר מורה מורה אבדנו ויעור ויגער ברוח ובמשברי ים וישתקו ותהי דממה
25 He said to them, 'Where is your faith?' They were awestruck and astounded and said to one another,'Who can this be, that gives orders even to winds and waves and they obey him?'	25 ויאמר אליהם איה אמונתכם וייראו ויתמהו ויאמרו איש אל רעהו מי אפוא הוא המצוה גם את הרוחות ואת המים וישמעו לו
26 They came to land in the territory of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.	26 ויעברו ויבאו אל ארץ הגדריים אשר ממול הגליל
27 He was stepping ashore when a man from the city who was possessed by devils came towards him;for a long time the man had been living with no clothes on, not in a house, but in the tombs.	27 ויצא אל היבשה ויפגשהו איש מן העיר אשר שדים בו מימים רבים ובגד לא לבש ובבית לא ישב כי אם בקברים
28 Catching sight of Jesus he gave a shout, fel at his feet and cried out at the top of his voice, 'What doyou want with me, Jesus, son of the Most High God? I implore you, do not torture me.'	28 וירא את ישוע ויפל לפניו ויקרא בקול גדול מה לי ולך ישוע בן אל עליון מבקש אני ממך אשר לא תענני
29 For Jesus had been tel ing the unclean spirit to come out of the man. It had seized on him a greatmany times, and then they used to secure him with chains and fetters to restrain him, but he would always breakthe fastenings, and the devil would drive him out into the wilds.	29 כי צוה את הרוח הטמא לצאת מן האיש כי ימים רבים חטף אתו ונאסר בזיקים ונשמר בכבלים והיה בנתקו את המוסרות ונדחף ביד השד אל המדברות
30 Jesus asked him, 'What is your name?' He said, 'Legion' -- because many devils had gone into him.	30 וישאל אתו ישוע לאמר מה שמך ויאמר לגיון שמי כי שדים רבים נכנסו בו
31 And these begged him not to order them to depart into the Abyss.	31 ויתחנן לו לבלתי צות אתם לרדת אל התהום
32 Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding there on the mountain, and the devils begged him to letthem go into these. So he gave them leave.	32 ויהי שם עדר חזירים רבים על המרעה בהר ויתחננו לו כי יניח להם לבוא אל תוכם וינח להם
33 The devils came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd charged down the cliff into thelake and was drowned.	33 ויצאו השדים מן האדם ההוא ויבאו בחזירים וישתער העדר מן המורד אל הים ויטבע
34 When the swineherds saw what had happened they ran off and told their story in the city and in thecountry round about;	34 וינוסו הרעים כראותם את אשר נעשה ויגידו הדבר בעיר ובכפרים
35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus they found the manfrom whom the devils had gone out sitting at the feet of Jesus, wearing clothes and in his right mind; and theywere afraid.	35 ויצאו לראת את אשר נעשה ויבאו אל ישוע וימצאו שם את האדם אשר יצאו ממנו השדים ישב לרגלי ישוע מלבש וטוב שכל וייראו
36 Those who had witnessed it told them how the man who had been possessed came to be saved.	36 ויספרו להם הראים איך נרפא אחוז השדים
37 The entire population of the Gerasene territory was in great fear and asked Jesus to leave them. So hegot into the boat and went back.	37 ויבקשו ממנו כל המון חבל הגדריים ללכת מאתם כי אימה גדולה נפלה עליהם וירד אל האניה וישב
38 The man from whom the devils had gone out asked to be al owed to stay with him, but he sent himaway saying,	38 ויבקש ממנו האיש אשר יצאו ממנו השדים לשבת אתו וישלח אתו ישוע באמרו
39 'Go back home and report al that God has done for you.' So the man went off and proclaimedthroughout the city al that Jesus had done for him.	39 שוב לביתך וספר הגדלות אשר עשה לך האלהים וילך לו וישמע בכל העיר את הגדלות אשר עשה לו ישוע
40 On his return Jesus was welcomed by the crowd, for they were al there waiting for him.	40 ויהי בשוב ישוע ויקבל אתו העם כי כלם היו מחכים לו
41 And suddenly there came a man named Jairus, who was president of the synagogue. He fel at Jesus'feet and pleaded with him to come to his house,	41 והנה בא איש ושמו יאיר והוא ראש בית הכנסת ויפל לרגלי ישוע ויתחנן לו לבוא אתו אל ביתו
42 because he had an only daughter about twelve years old, who was dying. And the crowds were almoststifling Jesus as he went.	42 כי בת יחידה כשתים עשרה שנה היתה לו והיא נוטה למות ויהי בלכתו שמה וידחקהו המון העם
43 Now there was a woman suffering from a haemorrhage for the past twelve years, whom no one hadbeen able to cure.	43 ואשה זבת דם שתים עשרה שנה אשר הוציאה כל קנינה לרפאים ואין איש יכל לרפאתה
44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak; and the haemorrhage stopped at thatvery moment.	44 היא קרבה מאחריו ותגע בציצת בגדו וזוב דמה עמד פתאם
45 Jesus said, 'Who was it that touched me?' When they al denied it, Peter said, 'Master, it is the crowdsround you, pushing.'	45 ויאמר ישוע מי זה נגע בי וכלם כחשו ויאמר פטרוס והעמדים אצלו מורה המון העם דחקים ולחצים אתך ואתה תאמר מי נגע בי
46 But Jesus said, 'Somebody touched me. I felt that power had gone out from me.'	46 ויאמר ישוע נגע בי אדם כי ידעתי אשר יצאה ממני גבורה
47 Seeing herself discovered, the woman came forward trembling, and fal ing at his feet explained in frontof al the people why she had touched him and how she had been cured at that very moment.	47 ותרא האשה כי לא נסתרה ממנו ותחרד לקראתו ותפל לפניו ותגד באזני כל העם על מה נגעה בו ואיך נרפאה פתאם
48 'My daughter,' he said, 'your faith has saved you; go in peace.'	48 ויאמר אליה חזקי בתי אמונתך הושיעה לך לכי לשלום
49 While he was stil speaking, someone arrived from the house of the president of the synagogue to say,'Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Master any further.'	49 עודנו מדבר ואיש בא מבית ראש הכנסת ויאמר מתה בתך אל תטריח את המורה
50 But Jesus heard this, and he spoke to the man, 'Do not be afraid, only have faith and she wil besaved.'	50 וישמע ישוע ויען ויאמר לו אל תירא אך האמן והיא תושע
51 When he came to the house he al owed no one to go in with him except Peter and John and James,and the child's father and mother.	51 ויבא הביתה ולא הניח לאיש לבוא אתו בלתי אם לפטרוס וליעקב וליוחנן ולאבי הילדה ולאמה
52 They were all crying and mourning for her, but Jesus said, 'Stop crying; she is not dead, but asleep.'	52 וכלם בכים וספדים לה ויאמר אל תבכו כי לא מתה אך ישנה היא
53 But they ridiculed him, knowing she was dead.	53 וישחקו עליו באשר ידעו כי מתה
54 But taking her by the hand himself he spoke to her, 'Child, get up.'	54 והוא אחז בידה ויקרא לאמר הילדה קומי
55 And her spirit returned and she got up at that very moment. Then he told them to give her something toeat.	55 ותשב רוחה ותקם פתאם ויצו לתת לה לאכול
56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tel anyone what had happened.	56 וישתוממו אביה ואמה והוא צוה אתם לבלתי הגיד לאיש את אשר נעשה
