1 Now it happened that after this he made his way through towns and villages preaching and proclaimingthe good news of the kingdom of God. With him went the Twelve,	1 Και μετα ταυτα διηρχετο αυτος πασαν πολιν και κωμην, κηρυττων και ευαγγελιζομενος την βασιλειαν του Θεου, και οι δωδεκα ησαν μετ' αυτου,
2 as wel as certain women who had been cured of evil spirits and ailments: Mary surnamed theMagdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,	2 και γυναικες τινες, αιτινες ησαν τεθεραπευμεναι απο πνευματων πονηρων και ασθενειων, Μαρια η καλουμενη Μαγδαληνη, εκ της οποιας ειχον εκβη επτα δαιμονια,
3 Joanna the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out oftheir own resources.	3 και Ιωαννα η γυνη του Χουζα, επιτροπου του Ηρωδου, και Σουσαννα και αλλαι πολλαι, αιτινες διηκονουν αυτον απο των υπαρχοντων αυτων.
4 With a large crowd gathering and people from every town finding their way to him, he told this parable:	4 Επειδη δε συνετρεχεν οχλος πολυς και ηρχοντο προς αυτον απο πασης πολεως, ειπε δια παραβολης?
5 'A sower went out to sow his seed. Now as he sowed, some fel on the edge of the path and wastrampled on; and the birds of the air ate it up.	5 Εξηλθεν ο σπειρων, δια να σπειρη τον σπορον αυτου. Και ενω εσπειρεν, αλλο μεν επεσε παρα την οδον και κατεπατηθη, και τα πετεινα του ουρανου κατεφαγον αυτο?
6 Some seed fell on rock, and when it came up it withered away, having no moisture.	6 αλλο δε επεσεν επι την πετραν και αναφυεν εξηρανθη, διοτι δεν ειχεν ικμαδα?
7 Some seed fell in the middle of thorns and the thorns grew with it and choked it.	7 και αλλο επεσεν εις το μεσον των ακανθων, και συμφυτρωσασαι αι ακανθαι απεπνιξαν αυτο?
8 And some seed fell into good soil and grew and produced its crop a hundredfold.' Saying this he cried,'Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!'	8 και αλλο επεσεν επι την γην την αγαθην, και αναφυεν εκαμε καρπον εκατονταπλασιονα. Ταυτα λεγων, εφωναζεν? Ο εχων ωτα δια να ακουη, ας ακουη.
9 His disciples asked him what this parable might mean,	9 Ηρωτων δε αυτον οι μαθηται αυτου, λεγοντες? Τι σημαινει η παραβολη αυτη;
10 and he said, 'To you is granted to understand the secrets of the kingdom of God; for the rest it remainsin parables, so that they may look but not perceive, listen but not understand.	10 Ο δε ειπεν? Εις εσας εδοθη να γνωρισητε τα μυστηρια της βασιλειας του Θεου, εις δε τους λοιπους δια παραβολων, δια να μη βλεπωσιν ενω βλεπουσι και να μη καταλαμβανωσιν ενω ακουουσιν.
11 'This, then, is what the parable means: the seed is the word of God.	11 Αυτη δε ειναι η παραβολη? Ο σπορος ειναι ο λογος του Θεου?
12 Those on the edge of the path are people who have heard it, and then the devil comes and carriesaway the word from their hearts in case they should believe and be saved.	12 οι δε σπειρομενοι παρα την οδον ειναι οι ακουοντες, επειτα ερχεται ο διαβολος και αφαιρει τον λογον απο της καρδιας αυτων, δια να μη πιστευσωσι και σωθωσιν.
13 Those on the rock are people who, when they first hear it, welcome the word with joy. But these haveno root; they believe for a while, and in time of trial they give up.	13 Οι δε επι της πετρας ειναι εκεινοι οιτινες, οταν ακουσωσι, μετα χαρας δεχονται τον λογον, και ουτοι ριζαν δεν εχουσιν, οιτινες προς καιρον πιστευουσι και εν καιρω πειρασμου αποστατουσι.
14 As for the part that fell into thorns, this is people who have heard, but as they go on their way they arechoked by the worries and riches and pleasures of life and never produce any crops.	14 Το δε πεσον εις τας ακανθας, ουτοι ειναι εκεινοι οιτινες ηκουσαν, και υπο μεριμνων και πλουτου και ηδονων του βιου υπαγουσι και συμπνιγονται και δεν τελεσφορουσι.
15 As for the part in the rich soil, this is people with a noble and generous heart who have heard the wordand take it to themselves and yield a harvest through their perseverance.	15 Το δε εις την καλην γην, ουτοι ειναι εκεινοι, οιτινες ακουσαντες τον λογον, κρατουσιν εν καρδια καλη και αγαθη και καρποφορουσιν εν υπομονη.
16 'No one lights a lamp to cover it with a bowl or to put it under a bed. No, it is put on a lamp-stand sothat people may see the light when they come in.	16 Ουδεις δε λυχνον αναψας, σκεπαζει αυτον με σκευος και θετει υποκατω κλινης, αλλα θετει επι του λυχνοστατου, δια να βλεπωσι το φως οι εισερχομενοι.
17 For nothing is hidden but it will be made clear, nothing secret but it will be made known and brought tolight.	17 Διοτι δεν υπαρχει κρυπτον, το οποιον δεν θελει γεινει φανερον; ουδε αποκρυφον, το οποιον δεν θελει γεινει γνωστον και ελθει εις το φανερον.
18 So take care how you listen; anyone who has, wil be given more; anyone who has not, wil bedeprived even of what he thinks he has.'	18 Προσεχετε λοιπον πως ακουετε? διοτι οστις εχει, θελει δοθη εις αυτον, και οστις δεν εχει, και εκεινο το οποιον νομιζει οτι εχει θελει αφαιρεθη απ' αυτου.
19 His mother and his brothers came looking for him, but they could not get to him because of the crowd.	19 Ηλθον δε προς αυτον η μητηρ και οι αδελφοι αυτου και δεν ηδυναντο δια τον οχλον να πλησιασωσιν αυτον.
20 He was told, 'Your mother and brothers are standing outside and want to see you.'	20 Και απηγγελθη προς αυτον υπο τινων λεγοντων? Η μητηρ σου και οι αδελφοι σου ιστανται εξω θελοντες να σε ιδωσιν.
21 But he said in answer, 'My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and put it intopractice.'	21 Ο δε αποκριθεις ειπε προς αυτους? Μητηρ μου και αδελφοι μου ειναι ουτοι, οι ακουοντες τον λογον του Θεου και πραττοντες αυτον.
22 It happened that one day he got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, 'Let us cross over tothe other side of the lake.' So they set out,	22 Και εν μια των ημερων εισηλθεν εις πλοιον αυτος και οι μαθηται αυτου, και ειπε προς αυτους? Ας διελθωμεν εις το περαν της λιμνης? και εσηκωθησαν.
23 and as they sailed he fel asleep. When a squall of wind came down on the lake the boat startedshipping water and they found themselves in danger.	23 Ενω δε επλεον, απεκοιμηθη. Και κατεβη ανεμοστροβιλος εις την λιμνην, και εγεμιζετο το πλοιον και εκινδυνευον.
24 So they went to rouse him saying, 'Master! Master! We are lost!' Then he woke up and rebuked thewind and the rough water; and they subsided and it was calm again.	24 Προσελθοντες δε εξυπνησαν αυτον, λεγοντες? Επιστατα, Επιστατα, χανομεθα. Ο δε σηκωθεις επετιμησε τον ανεμον και την ταραχην του υδατος, και επαυσαν, και εγεινε γαληνη.
25 He said to them, 'Where is your faith?' They were awestruck and astounded and said to one another,'Who can this be, that gives orders even to winds and waves and they obey him?'	25 Ειπε δε προς αυτους, που ειναι η πιστις σας; Και φοβηθεντες εθαυμασαν, λεγοντες προς αλληλους? Τις λοιπον ειναι ουτος, οτι και τους ανεμους προσταζει και το υδωρ, και υπακουουσιν εις αυτον;
26 They came to land in the territory of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.	26 Και κατεπλευσαν εις την χωραν των Γαδαρηνων, ητις ειναι αντιπεραν της Γαλιλαιας.
27 He was stepping ashore when a man from the city who was possessed by devils came towards him;for a long time the man had been living with no clothes on, not in a house, but in the tombs.	27 Και καθως εξηλθεν επι την γην, υπηντησεν αυτον ανθρωπος τις εκ της πολεως, οστις ειχε δαιμονια απο χρονων πολλων, και ιματιον δεν ενεδυετο και εν οικια δεν εμενεν, αλλ' εν τοις μνημασιν.
28 Catching sight of Jesus he gave a shout, fel at his feet and cried out at the top of his voice, 'What doyou want with me, Jesus, son of the Most High God? I implore you, do not torture me.'	28 Ιδων δε τον Ιησουν, ανεκραξε και προσεπεσεν εις αυτον και μετα φωνης μεγαλης ειπε? Τι ειναι μεταξυ εμου και σου, Ιησου, Υιε του Θεου του Υψιστου; δεομαι σου, μη με βασανισης.
29 For Jesus had been tel ing the unclean spirit to come out of the man. It had seized on him a greatmany times, and then they used to secure him with chains and fetters to restrain him, but he would always breakthe fastenings, and the devil would drive him out into the wilds.	29 Διοτι προσεταξεν εις το πνευμα το ακαθαρτον να εξελθη απο του ανθρωπου. Επειδη προ πολλων χρονων ειχε συναρπασει αυτον, και εδεσμευετο με αλυσεις και εφυλαττετο με ποδοδεσμα και διασπων τα δεσμα, εφερετο υπο του δαιμονος εις τας ερημους.
30 Jesus asked him, 'What is your name?' He said, 'Legion' -- because many devils had gone into him.	30 Και ηρωτησεν αυτον ο Ιησους, λεγων? Τι ειναι το ονομα σου; Ο δε ειπε? Λεγεων? διοτι δαιμονια πολλα εισηλθον εις αυτον?
31 And these begged him not to order them to depart into the Abyss.	31 και παρεκαλουν αυτον να μη προσταξη αυτα να απελθωσιν εις την αβυσσον.
32 Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding there on the mountain, and the devils begged him to letthem go into these. So he gave them leave.	32 Ητο δε εκει αγελη χοιρων πολλων βοσκομενων εν τω ορει? και παρεκαλουν αυτον να επιτρεψη εις αυτα να εισελθωσιν εις εκεινους? και επετρεψεν εις αυτα.
33 The devils came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd charged down the cliff into thelake and was drowned.	33 Εξελθοντα δε τα δαιμονια απο του ανθρωπου, εισηλθον εις τους χοιρους, και ωρμησεν η αγελη κατα του κρημνου εις την λιμνην και απεπνιγη.
34 When the swineherds saw what had happened they ran off and told their story in the city and in thecountry round about;	34 Ιδοντες δε οι βοσκοι το γενομενον εφυγον, και απελθοντες απηγγειλαν εις την πολιν και εις τους αγρους.
35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus they found the manfrom whom the devils had gone out sitting at the feet of Jesus, wearing clothes and in his right mind; and theywere afraid.	35 Και εξηλθον δια να ιδωσι το γεγονος, και ηλθον προς τον Ιησουν και ευρον τον ανθρωπον, εκ του οποιου ειχον εξελθει τα δαιμονια, καθημενον παρα τους ποδας του Ιησου, ενδεδυμενον και σωφρονουντα? και εφοβηθησαν.
36 Those who had witnessed it told them how the man who had been possessed came to be saved.	36 Διηγηθησαν δε προς αυτους και οι ιδοντες πως εσωθη ο δαιμονιζομενος.
37 The entire population of the Gerasene territory was in great fear and asked Jesus to leave them. So hegot into the boat and went back.	37 Και απαν το πληθος της περιχωρου των Γαδαρηνων παρεκαλεσαν αυτον να αναχωρηση απ' αυτων, διοτι κατειχοντο υπο μεγαλου φοβου, αυτος δε εμβας εις το πλοιον υπεστρεψεν.
38 The man from whom the devils had gone out asked to be al owed to stay with him, but he sent himaway saying,	38 Ο δε ανθρωπος, εκ του οποιου ειχον εξελθει τα δαιμονια, παρεκαλει αυτον να ηναι μετ' αυτου? ο Ιησους ομως απελυσεν αυτον, λεγων.
39 'Go back home and report al that God has done for you.' So the man went off and proclaimedthroughout the city al that Jesus had done for him.	39 Επιστρεψον εις τον οικον σου και διηγου οσα εκαμεν εις σε ο Θεος? και ανεχωρησε κηρυττων καθ' ολην την πολιν οσα εκαμεν εις αυτον ο Ιησους.
40 On his return Jesus was welcomed by the crowd, for they were al there waiting for him.	40 Οτε δε υπεστρεψεν ο Ιησους, υπεδεχθη αυτον ο οχλος? διοτι παντες ησαν περιμενοντες αυτον.
41 And suddenly there came a man named Jairus, who was president of the synagogue. He fel at Jesus'feet and pleaded with him to come to his house,	41 Και ιδου, ηλθεν ανθρωπος ονομαζομενος Ιαειρος, οστις ητο αρχων της συναγωγης και πεσων εις τους ποδας του Ιησου, παρεκαλει αυτον να εισελθη εις τον οικον αυτου,
42 because he had an only daughter about twelve years old, who was dying. And the crowds were almoststifling Jesus as he went.	42 διοτι ειχε θυγατερα μονογενη ως ετων δωδεκα, και αυτη απεθνησκεν. Ενω δε επορευετο, οι οχλοι συνεθλιβον αυτον.
43 Now there was a woman suffering from a haemorrhage for the past twelve years, whom no one hadbeen able to cure.	43 Και γυνη τις εχουσα ρυσιν αιματος δωδεκα ετη, ητις δαπανησασα εις ιατρους ολον τον βιον αυτης δεν ηδυνηθη να θεραπευθη υπ' ουδενος,
44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak; and the haemorrhage stopped at thatvery moment.	44 πλησιασασα οπισθεν ηγγισε το ακρον του ιματιου αυτου, και παρευθυς εσταθη η ρυσις του αιματος αυτης.
45 Jesus said, 'Who was it that touched me?' When they al denied it, Peter said, 'Master, it is the crowdsround you, pushing.'	45 Και ειπεν ο Ιησους? Τις μου ηγγισε; και ενω ηρνουντο παντες, ειπεν ο Πετρος και οι μετ' αυτου? Επιστατα, οι οχλοι σε συμπιεζουσι και σε συνθλιβουσι, και λεγεις? Τις μου ηγγισεν;
46 But Jesus said, 'Somebody touched me. I felt that power had gone out from me.'	46 Ο δε Ιησους ειπε? Μου ηγγισε τις? διοτι εγω ενοησα οτι εξηλθε δυναμις απ' εμου.
47 Seeing herself discovered, the woman came forward trembling, and fal ing at his feet explained in frontof al the people why she had touched him and how she had been cured at that very moment.	47 Ιδουσα δε η γυνη οτι δεν εκρυφθη, ηλθε τρεμουσα και προσπεσουσα εις αυτον, απηγγειλε προς αυτον ενωπιον παντος του λαου δια ποιαν αιτιαν ηγγισεν αυτον, και οτι παρευθυς ιατρευθη.
48 'My daughter,' he said, 'your faith has saved you; go in peace.'	48 Ο δε ειπε προς αυτην? Θαρρει, θυγατερ, η πιστις σου σε εσωσεν? υπαγε εις ειρηνην.
49 While he was stil speaking, someone arrived from the house of the president of the synagogue to say,'Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Master any further.'	49 Ενω δε ελαλει ετι, ερχεται τις παρα του αρχισυναγωγου, λεγων προς αυτον οτι απεθανεν η θυγατηρ σου? μη ενοχλει τον Διδασκαλον.
50 But Jesus heard this, and he spoke to the man, 'Do not be afraid, only have faith and she wil besaved.'	50 Ο δε Ιησους ακουσας απεκριθη προς αυτον, λεγων? Μη φοβου? μονον πιστευε, και θελει σωθη.
51 When he came to the house he al owed no one to go in with him except Peter and John and James,and the child's father and mother.	51 Και οτε εισηλθεν εις την οικιαν, δεν αφηκεν ουδενα να εισελθη ειμη τον Πετρον και Ιακωβον και Ιωαννην και τον πατερα της κορης και την μητερα.
52 They were all crying and mourning for her, but Jesus said, 'Stop crying; she is not dead, but asleep.'	52 Εκλαιον δε παντες και εθρηνουν αυτην. Ο δε ειπε? Μη κλαιετε? δεν απεθανεν, αλλα κοιμαται.
53 But they ridiculed him, knowing she was dead.	53 Και κατεγελων αυτον, εξευροντες οτι απεθανεν.
54 But taking her by the hand himself he spoke to her, 'Child, get up.'	54 Αλλ' αυτος εκβαλων εξω παντας και πιασας την χειρα αυτης, εφωναξε λεγων? Κορασιον, σηκωθητι.
55 And her spirit returned and she got up at that very moment. Then he told them to give her something toeat.	55 Και υπεστρεψε το πνευμα αυτης, και ανεστη παρευθυς, και προσεταξε να δοθη εις αυτην να φαγη.
56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tel anyone what had happened.	56 Και εξεπλαγησαν οι γονεις αυτης. Ο δε παρηγγειλεν εις αυτους να μη ειπωσιν εις μηδενα το γεγονος.
