Luke 8

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Now it happened that after this he made his way through towns and villages preaching and proclaimingthe good news of the kingdom of God. With him went the Twelve,	1 Y sucedió a continuación que iba por ciudades y pueblos, proclamando y anunciando la Buena Nueva del Reino de Dios; le acompañaban los Doce,
2 as wel as certain women who had been cured of evil spirits and ailments: Mary surnamed theMagdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,	2 y algunas mujeres que habían sido curadas de espíritus malignos y enfermedades: María, llamada Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios,
3 Joanna the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out oftheir own resources.	3 Juana, mujer de Cusa, un administrador de Herodes, Susana y otras muchas que les servían con sus bienes.
4 With a large crowd gathering and people from every town finding their way to him, he told this parable:	4 Habiéndose congregado mucha gente, y viniendo a él de todas las ciudades, dijo en parábola:
5 'A sower went out to sow his seed. Now as he sowed, some fel on the edge of the path and wastrampled on; and the birds of the air ate it up.	5 «Salió un sembrador a sembrar su simiente; y al sembrar, una parte cayó a lo largo del camino, fue pisada, y las aves del cielo se la comieron;
6 Some seed fell on rock, and when it came up it withered away, having no moisture.	6 otra cayó sobre piedra, y después de brotar, se secó, por no tener humedad;
7 Some seed fell in the middle of thorns and the thorns grew with it and choked it.	7 otra cayó en medio de abrojos, y creciendo con ella los abrojos, la ahogaron.
8 And some seed fell into good soil and grew and produced its crop a hundredfold.' Saying this he cried,'Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!'	8 Y otra cayó en tierra buena, y creciendo dio fruto centuplicado». Dicho esto, exclamó: «El que tenga oídos para oír, que oiga».
9 His disciples asked him what this parable might mean,	9 Le preguntaban sus discípulos qué significaba esta parábola,
10 and he said, 'To you is granted to understand the secrets of the kingdom of God; for the rest it remainsin parables, so that they may look but not perceive, listen but not understand.	10 y él dijo: «A vosotros se os ha dado el conocer los misterios del Reino de Dios; a los demás sólo en parábolas, para que viendo, no vean y, oyendo, no entiendan.
11 'This, then, is what the parable means: the seed is the word of God.	11 «La parábola quiere decir esto: La simiente es la Palabra de Dios.
12 Those on the edge of the path are people who have heard it, and then the devil comes and carriesaway the word from their hearts in case they should believe and be saved.	12 Los de a lo largo del camino, son los que han oído; después viene el diablo y se lleva de su corazón la Palabra, no sea que crean y se salven.
13 Those on the rock are people who, when they first hear it, welcome the word with joy. But these haveno root; they believe for a while, and in time of trial they give up.	13 Los de sobre piedra son los que, al oír la Palabra, la reciben con alegría; pero éstos no tienen raíz; creen por algún tiempo, pero a la hora de la prueba desisten.
14 As for the part that fell into thorns, this is people who have heard, but as they go on their way they arechoked by the worries and riches and pleasures of life and never produce any crops.	14 Lo que cayó entre los abrojos, son los que han oído, pero a lo largo de su caminar son ahogados por las preocupaciones, las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y no llegan a madurez.
15 As for the part in the rich soil, this is people with a noble and generous heart who have heard the wordand take it to themselves and yield a harvest through their perseverance.	15 Lo que en buena tierra, son los que, después de haber oído, conservan la Palabra con corazón bueno y recto, y dan fruto con perseverancia.
16 'No one lights a lamp to cover it with a bowl or to put it under a bed. No, it is put on a lamp-stand sothat people may see the light when they come in.	16 «Nadie enciende una lámpara y la cubre con una vasija, o la pone debajo de un lecho, sino que la pone sobre un candelero, para que los que entren vean la luz.
17 For nothing is hidden but it will be made clear, nothing secret but it will be made known and brought tolight.	17 Pues nada hay oculto que no quede manifiesto, y nada secreto que no venga a ser conocido y descubierto.
18 So take care how you listen; anyone who has, wil be given more; anyone who has not, wil bedeprived even of what he thinks he has.'	18 Mirad, pues, cómo oís; porque al que tenga, se le dará; y al que no tenga, aun lo que crea tener se le quitará».
19 His mother and his brothers came looking for him, but they could not get to him because of the crowd.	19 Se presentaron donde él su madre y sus hermanos, pero no podían llegar hasta él a causa de la gente.
20 He was told, 'Your mother and brothers are standing outside and want to see you.'	20 Le anunciaron: «Tu madre y tus hermanos están ahí fuera y quieren verte».
21 But he said in answer, 'My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and put it intopractice.'	21 Pero él les respondió: «Mi madre y mis hermanos son aquellos que oyen la Palabra de Dios y la cumplen».
22 It happened that one day he got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, 'Let us cross over tothe other side of the lake.' So they set out,	22 Sucedió que cierto día subió a una barca con sus discípulos, y les dijo: «Pasemos a la otra orilla del lago». Y se hicieron a la mar.
23 and as they sailed he fel asleep. When a squall of wind came down on the lake the boat startedshipping water and they found themselves in danger.	23 Mientras ellos navegaban, se durmió. Se abatió sobre el lago una borrasca; se inundaba la barca y estaban en peligro.
24 So they went to rouse him saying, 'Master! Master! We are lost!' Then he woke up and rebuked thewind and the rough water; and they subsided and it was calm again.	24 Entonces, acercándose, le despertaron, diciendo: «¡Maestro, Maestro, que perecemos!» El, habiéndose despertado, increpó al viento y al oleaje, que amainaron, y sobrevino la bonanza.
25 He said to them, 'Where is your faith?' They were awestruck and astounded and said to one another,'Who can this be, that gives orders even to winds and waves and they obey him?'	25 Entonces les dijo: «¿Dónde está vuestra fe?» Ellos, llenos de temor, se decían entre sí maravillados: «Pues ¿quién es éste, que impera a los vientos y al agua, y le obedecen?»
26 They came to land in the territory of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.	26 Arribaron a la región de los gerasenos, que está frente a Galilea.
27 He was stepping ashore when a man from the city who was possessed by devils came towards him;for a long time the man had been living with no clothes on, not in a house, but in the tombs.	27 Al saltar a tierra, vino de la ciudad a su encuentro un hombre, poseído por los demonios, y que hacía mucho tiempo que no llevaba vestido, ni moraba en una casa, sino en los sepulcros.
28 Catching sight of Jesus he gave a shout, fel at his feet and cried out at the top of his voice, 'What doyou want with me, Jesus, son of the Most High God? I implore you, do not torture me.'	28 Al ver a Jesús, cayó ante él, gritando con gran voz: «¿Qué tengo yo contigo, Jesús, Hijo de Dios Altísimo? Te suplico que no me atormentes».
29 For Jesus had been tel ing the unclean spirit to come out of the man. It had seized on him a greatmany times, and then they used to secure him with chains and fetters to restrain him, but he would always breakthe fastenings, and the devil would drive him out into the wilds.	29 Es que él había mandado al espíritu inmundo que saliera de aquel hombre; pues en muchas ocasiones se apoderaba de él; le sujetaban con cadenas y grillos para custodiarle, pero rompiendo las ligaduras era empujado por el demonio al desierto.
30 Jesus asked him, 'What is your name?' He said, 'Legion' -- because many devils had gone into him.	30 Jesús le preguntó: «¿Cuál es tu nombre? «El contestó: «Legión»; porque habían entrado en él muchos demonios.
31 And these begged him not to order them to depart into the Abyss.	31 Y le suplicaban que no les mandara irse al abismo.
32 Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding there on the mountain, and the devils begged him to letthem go into these. So he gave them leave.	32 Había allí una gran piara de puercos que pacían en el monte; y le suplicaron que les permitiera entrar en ellos; y se lo permitió.
33 The devils came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd charged down the cliff into thelake and was drowned.	33 Salieron los demonios de aquel hombre y entraron en los puercos; y la piara se arrojó al lago de lo alto del precipicio, y se ahogó.
34 When the swineherds saw what had happened they ran off and told their story in the city and in thecountry round about;	34 Viendo los porqueros lo que había pasado, huyeron y lo contaron por la ciudad y por las aldeas.
35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus they found the manfrom whom the devils had gone out sitting at the feet of Jesus, wearing clothes and in his right mind; and theywere afraid.	35 Salieron, pues, a ver lo que había occurido y, llegando donde Jesús, encontraron al hombre del que habían salido los demonios, sentado, vestido y en su sano juicio, a los pies de Jesús; y se llenaron de temor.
36 Those who had witnessed it told them how the man who had been possessed came to be saved.	36 Los que lo habían visto, les contaron cómo había sido salvado el endemoniado.
37 The entire population of the Gerasene territory was in great fear and asked Jesus to leave them. So hegot into the boat and went back.	37 Entonces toda la gente del país de los gerasenos le rogaron que se alejara de ellos, porque estaban poseídos de gran temor. El, subiendo a la barca, regresó.
38 The man from whom the devils had gone out asked to be al owed to stay with him, but he sent himaway saying,	38 El hombre de quien habían salido los demonios, le pedía estar con él; pero le despidió, diciendo:
39 'Go back home and report al that God has done for you.' So the man went off and proclaimedthroughout the city al that Jesus had done for him.	39 «Vuelve a tu casa y cuenta todo lo que Dios ha hecho contigo». Y fue por toda la ciudad proclamando todo lo que Jesús había hecho con él.
40 On his return Jesus was welcomed by the crowd, for they were al there waiting for him.	40 Cuando regresó Jesús, le recibió la muchedumbre, pues todos le estaban esperando.
41 And suddenly there came a man named Jairus, who was president of the synagogue. He fel at Jesus'feet and pleaded with him to come to his house,	41 Y he aquí que llegó un hombre, llamado Jairo, que era jefe de la sinagoga, y cayendo a los pies de Jesús, le suplicaba entrara en su casa,
42 because he had an only daughter about twelve years old, who was dying. And the crowds were almoststifling Jesus as he went.	42 porque tenía una sola hija, de unos doce años, que estaba muriéndose. Mientras iba, las gentes le ahogaban.
43 Now there was a woman suffering from a haemorrhage for the past twelve years, whom no one hadbeen able to cure.	43 Entonces, una mujer que padecía flujo de sangre desde hacía doce años, y que no había podido ser curada por nadie,
44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak; and the haemorrhage stopped at thatvery moment.	44 se acercó por detrás y tocó la orla de su manto, y al punto se le paró el flujo de sangre.
45 Jesus said, 'Who was it that touched me?' When they al denied it, Peter said, 'Master, it is the crowdsround you, pushing.'	45 Jesús dijo: «¿Quién me ha tocado?» Como todos negasen, dijo Pedro: «Maestro, las gentes te aprietan y te oprimen».
46 But Jesus said, 'Somebody touched me. I felt that power had gone out from me.'	46 Pero Jesús dijo: «Alguien me ha tocado, porque he sentido que una fuerza ha salido de mí».
47 Seeing herself discovered, the woman came forward trembling, and fal ing at his feet explained in frontof al the people why she had touched him and how she had been cured at that very moment.	47 Viéndose descubierta la mujer, se acercó temblorosa, y postrándose ante él, contó delante de todo el pueblo por qué razón le había tocado, y cómo al punto había sido curada.
48 'My daughter,' he said, 'your faith has saved you; go in peace.'	48 El le dijo: «Hija, tu fe te ha salvado; vete en paz».
49 While he was stil speaking, someone arrived from the house of the president of the synagogue to say,'Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Master any further.'	49 Estaba todavía hablando, cuando uno de casa del jefe de la sinagoga llega diciendo: «Tu hija está muerta. No molestes ya al Maestro».
50 But Jesus heard this, and he spoke to the man, 'Do not be afraid, only have faith and she wil besaved.'	50 Jesús, que lo oyó, le dijo: «No temas; solamente ten fe y se salvará».
51 When he came to the house he al owed no one to go in with him except Peter and John and James,and the child's father and mother.	51 Al llegar a la casa, no permitió entrar con él más que a Pedro, Juan y Santiago, al padre y a la madre de la niña.
52 They were all crying and mourning for her, but Jesus said, 'Stop crying; she is not dead, but asleep.'	52 Todos la lloraban y se lamentaban, pero él dijo: «No lloréis, no ha muerto; está dormida».
53 But they ridiculed him, knowing she was dead.	53 Y se burlaban de él, pues sabían que estaba muerta.
54 But taking her by the hand himself he spoke to her, 'Child, get up.'	54 El, tomándola de la mano, dijo en voz alta: «Niña, levántate».
55 And her spirit returned and she got up at that very moment. Then he told them to give her something toeat.	55 Retornó el espíritu a ella, y al punto se levantó; y él mandó que le dieran a ella de comer.
56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tel anyone what had happened.	56 Sus padres quedaron estupefactos, y él les ordenó que a nadie dijeran lo que había pasado.
