Luke 8

1 Now it happened that after this he made his way through towns and villages preaching and proclaimingthe good news of the kingdom of God. With him went the Twelve,	1 In seguito egli se ne andava per città e villaggi, predicando e annunciando la buona notizia del regno di Dio. C’erano con lui i Dodici
2 as wel as certain women who had been cured of evil spirits and ailments: Mary surnamed theMagdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,	2 e alcune donne che erano state guarite da spiriti cattivi e da infermità: Maria, chiamata Maddalena, dalla quale erano usciti sette demòni;
3 Joanna the wife of Herod's steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out oftheir own resources.	3 Giovanna, moglie di Cuza, amministratore di Erode; Susanna e molte altre, che li servivano con i loro beni.
4 With a large crowd gathering and people from every town finding their way to him, he told this parable:	4 Poiché una grande folla si radunava e accorreva a lui gente da ogni città, Gesù disse con una parabola:
5 'A sower went out to sow his seed. Now as he sowed, some fel on the edge of the path and wastrampled on; and the birds of the air ate it up.	5 «Il seminatore uscì a seminare il suo seme. Mentre seminava, una parte cadde lungo la strada e fu calpestata, e gli uccelli del cielo la mangiarono.
6 Some seed fell on rock, and when it came up it withered away, having no moisture.	6 Un’altra parte cadde sulla pietra e, appena germogliata, seccò per mancanza di umidità.
7 Some seed fell in the middle of thorns and the thorns grew with it and choked it.	7 Un’altra parte cadde in mezzo ai rovi e i rovi, cresciuti insieme con essa, la soffocarono.
8 And some seed fell into good soil and grew and produced its crop a hundredfold.' Saying this he cried,'Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!'	8 Un’altra parte cadde sul terreno buono, germogliò e fruttò cento volte tanto». Detto questo, esclamò: «Chi ha orecchi per ascoltare, ascolti!».
9 His disciples asked him what this parable might mean,	9 I suoi discepoli lo interrogavano sul significato della parabola.
10 and he said, 'To you is granted to understand the secrets of the kingdom of God; for the rest it remainsin parables, so that they may look but not perceive, listen but not understand.	10 Ed egli disse: «A voi è dato conoscere i misteri del regno di Dio, ma agli altri solo con parabole, affinché vedendo non vedano e ascoltando non comprendano.
11 'This, then, is what the parable means: the seed is the word of God.	11 Il significato della parabola è questo: il seme è la parola di Dio.
12 Those on the edge of the path are people who have heard it, and then the devil comes and carriesaway the word from their hearts in case they should believe and be saved.	12 I semi caduti lungo la strada sono coloro che l’hanno ascoltata, ma poi viene il diavolo e porta via la Parola dal loro cuore, perché non avvenga che, credendo, siano salvati.
13 Those on the rock are people who, when they first hear it, welcome the word with joy. But these haveno root; they believe for a while, and in time of trial they give up.	13 Quelli sulla pietra sono coloro che, quando ascoltano, ricevono la Parola con gioia, ma non hanno radici; credono per un certo tempo, ma nel tempo della prova vengono meno.
14 As for the part that fell into thorns, this is people who have heard, but as they go on their way they arechoked by the worries and riches and pleasures of life and never produce any crops.	14 Quello caduto in mezzo ai rovi sono coloro che, dopo aver ascoltato, strada facendo si lasciano soffocare da preoccupazioni, ricchezze e piaceri della vita e non giungono a maturazione.
15 As for the part in the rich soil, this is people with a noble and generous heart who have heard the wordand take it to themselves and yield a harvest through their perseverance.	15 Quello sul terreno buono sono coloro che, dopo aver ascoltato la Parola con cuore integro e buono, la custodiscono e producono frutto con perseveranza.
16 'No one lights a lamp to cover it with a bowl or to put it under a bed. No, it is put on a lamp-stand sothat people may see the light when they come in.	16 Nessuno accende una lampada e la copre con un vaso o la mette sotto un letto, ma la pone su un candelabro, perché chi entra veda la luce.
17 For nothing is hidden but it will be made clear, nothing secret but it will be made known and brought tolight.	17 Non c’è nulla di segreto che non sia manifestato, nulla di nascosto che non sia conosciuto e venga in piena luce.
18 So take care how you listen; anyone who has, wil be given more; anyone who has not, wil bedeprived even of what he thinks he has.'	18 Fate attenzione dunque a come ascoltate; perché a chi ha, sarà dato, ma a chi non ha, sarà tolto anche ciò che crede di avere».
19 His mother and his brothers came looking for him, but they could not get to him because of the crowd.	19 E andarono da lui la madre e i suoi fratelli, ma non potevano avvicinarlo a causa della folla.
20 He was told, 'Your mother and brothers are standing outside and want to see you.'	20 Gli fecero sapere: «Tua madre e i tuoi fratelli stanno fuori e desiderano vederti».
21 But he said in answer, 'My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and put it intopractice.'	21 Ma egli rispose loro: «Mia madre e miei fratelli sono questi: coloro che ascoltano la parola di Dio e la mettono in pratica».
22 It happened that one day he got into a boat with his disciples and said to them, 'Let us cross over tothe other side of the lake.' So they set out,	22 E avvenne che, uno di quei giorni, Gesù salì su una barca con i suoi discepoli e disse loro: «Passiamo all’altra riva del lago». E presero il largo.
23 and as they sailed he fel asleep. When a squall of wind came down on the lake the boat startedshipping water and they found themselves in danger.	23 Ora, mentre navigavano, egli si addormentò. Una tempesta di vento si abbatté sul lago, imbarcavano acqua ed erano in pericolo.
24 So they went to rouse him saying, 'Master! Master! We are lost!' Then he woke up and rebuked thewind and the rough water; and they subsided and it was calm again.	24 Si accostarono a lui e lo svegliarono dicendo: «Maestro, maestro, siamo perduti!». Ed egli, destatosi, minacciò il vento e le acque in tempesta: si calmarono e ci fu bonaccia.
25 He said to them, 'Where is your faith?' They were awestruck and astounded and said to one another,'Who can this be, that gives orders even to winds and waves and they obey him?'	25 Allora disse loro: «Dov’è la vostra fede?». Essi, impauriti e stupiti, dicevano l’un l’altro: «Chi è dunque costui, che comanda anche ai venti e all’acqua, e gli obbediscono?».
26 They came to land in the territory of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.	26 Approdarono nel paese dei Gerasèni, che sta di fronte alla Galilea.
27 He was stepping ashore when a man from the city who was possessed by devils came towards him;for a long time the man had been living with no clothes on, not in a house, but in the tombs.	27 Era appena sceso a terra, quando dalla città gli venne incontro un uomo posseduto dai demòni. Da molto tempo non portava vestiti, né abitava in casa, ma in mezzo alle tombe.
28 Catching sight of Jesus he gave a shout, fel at his feet and cried out at the top of his voice, 'What doyou want with me, Jesus, son of the Most High God? I implore you, do not torture me.'	28 Quando vide Gesù, gli si gettò ai piedi urlando, e disse a gran voce: «Che vuoi da me, Gesù, Figlio del Dio altissimo? Ti prego, non tormentarmi!».
29 For Jesus had been tel ing the unclean spirit to come out of the man. It had seized on him a greatmany times, and then they used to secure him with chains and fetters to restrain him, but he would always breakthe fastenings, and the devil would drive him out into the wilds.	29 Gesù aveva ordinato allo spirito impuro di uscire da quell’uomo. Molte volte infatti si era impossessato di lui; allora lo tenevano chiuso, legato con catene e con i ceppi ai piedi, ma egli spezzava i legami e veniva spinto dal demonio in luoghi deserti.
30 Jesus asked him, 'What is your name?' He said, 'Legion' -- because many devils had gone into him.	30 Gesù gli domandò: «Qual è il tuo nome?». Rispose: «Legione», perché molti demòni erano entrati in lui.
31 And these begged him not to order them to depart into the Abyss.	31 E lo scongiuravano che non ordinasse loro di andarsene nell’abisso.
32 Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding there on the mountain, and the devils begged him to letthem go into these. So he gave them leave.	32 Vi era là una grande mandria di porci, al pascolo sul monte. I demòni lo scongiurarono che concedesse loro di entrare nei porci. Glielo permise.
33 The devils came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd charged down the cliff into thelake and was drowned.	33 I demòni, usciti dall’uomo, entrarono nei porci e la mandria si precipitò, giù dalla rupe, nel lago e annegò.
34 When the swineherds saw what had happened they ran off and told their story in the city and in thecountry round about;	34 Quando videro ciò che era accaduto, i mandriani fuggirono e portarono la notizia nella città e nelle campagne.
35 and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus they found the manfrom whom the devils had gone out sitting at the feet of Jesus, wearing clothes and in his right mind; and theywere afraid.	35 La gente uscì per vedere l’accaduto e, quando arrivarono da Gesù, trovarono l’uomo dal quale erano usciti i demòni, vestito e sano di mente, che sedeva ai piedi di Gesù, ed ebbero paura.
36 Those who had witnessed it told them how the man who had been possessed came to be saved.	36 Quelli che avevano visto riferirono come l’indemoniato era stato salvato.
37 The entire population of the Gerasene territory was in great fear and asked Jesus to leave them. So hegot into the boat and went back.	37 Allora tutta la popolazione del territorio dei Gerasèni gli chiese che si allontanasse da loro, perché avevano molta paura. Egli, salito su una barca, tornò indietro.
38 The man from whom the devils had gone out asked to be al owed to stay with him, but he sent himaway saying,	38 L’uomo dal quale erano usciti i demòni gli chiese di restare con lui, ma egli lo congedò dicendo:
39 'Go back home and report al that God has done for you.' So the man went off and proclaimedthroughout the city al that Jesus had done for him.	39 «Torna a casa tua e racconta quello che Dio ha fatto per te». E quello se ne andò, proclamando per tutta la città quello che Gesù aveva fatto per lui.
40 On his return Jesus was welcomed by the crowd, for they were al there waiting for him.	40 Al suo ritorno, Gesù fu accolto dalla folla, perché tutti erano in attesa di lui.
41 And suddenly there came a man named Jairus, who was president of the synagogue. He fel at Jesus'feet and pleaded with him to come to his house,	41 Ed ecco, venne un uomo di nome Giàiro, che era capo della sinagoga: si gettò ai piedi di Gesù e lo pregava di recarsi a casa sua,
42 because he had an only daughter about twelve years old, who was dying. And the crowds were almoststifling Jesus as he went.	42 perché l’unica figlia che aveva, di circa dodici anni, stava per morire. Mentre Gesù vi si recava, le folle gli si accalcavano attorno.
43 Now there was a woman suffering from a haemorrhage for the past twelve years, whom no one hadbeen able to cure.	43 E una donna, che aveva perdite di sangue da dodici anni, la quale, pur avendo speso tutti i suoi beni per i medici, non aveva potuto essere guarita da nessuno,
44 She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak; and the haemorrhage stopped at thatvery moment.	44 gli si avvicinò da dietro, gli toccò il lembo del mantello e immediatamente l’emorragia si arrestò.
45 Jesus said, 'Who was it that touched me?' When they al denied it, Peter said, 'Master, it is the crowdsround you, pushing.'	45 Gesù disse: «Chi mi ha toccato?». Tutti negavano. Pietro allora disse: «Maestro, la folla ti stringe da ogni parte e ti schiaccia».
46 But Jesus said, 'Somebody touched me. I felt that power had gone out from me.'	46 Ma Gesù disse: «Qualcuno mi ha toccato. Ho sentito che una forza è uscita da me».
47 Seeing herself discovered, the woman came forward trembling, and fal ing at his feet explained in frontof al the people why she had touched him and how she had been cured at that very moment.	47 Allora la donna, vedendo che non poteva rimanere nascosta, tremante, venne e si gettò ai suoi piedi e dichiarò davanti a tutto il popolo per quale motivo l’aveva toccato e come era stata guarita all’istante.
48 'My daughter,' he said, 'your faith has saved you; go in peace.'	48 Egli le disse: «Figlia, la tua fede ti ha salvata. Va’ in pace!».
49 While he was stil speaking, someone arrived from the house of the president of the synagogue to say,'Your daughter has died. Do not trouble the Master any further.'	49 Stava ancora parlando, quando arrivò uno dalla casa del capo della sinagoga e disse: «Tua figlia è morta, non disturbare più il maestro».
50 But Jesus heard this, and he spoke to the man, 'Do not be afraid, only have faith and she wil besaved.'	50 Ma Gesù, avendo udito, rispose: «Non temere, soltanto abbi fede e sarà salvata».
51 When he came to the house he al owed no one to go in with him except Peter and John and James,and the child's father and mother.	51 Giunto alla casa, non permise a nessuno di entrare con lui, fuorché a Pietro, Giovanni e Giacomo e al padre e alla madre della fanciulla.
52 They were all crying and mourning for her, but Jesus said, 'Stop crying; she is not dead, but asleep.'	52 Tutti piangevano e facevano il lamento su di lei. Gesù disse: «Non piangete. Non è morta, ma dorme».
53 But they ridiculed him, knowing she was dead.	53 Essi lo deridevano, sapendo bene che era morta;
54 But taking her by the hand himself he spoke to her, 'Child, get up.'	54 ma egli le prese la mano e disse ad alta voce: «Fanciulla, àlzati!».
55 And her spirit returned and she got up at that very moment. Then he told them to give her something toeat.	55 La vita ritornò in lei e si alzò all’istante. Egli ordinò di darle da mangiare.
56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tel anyone what had happened.	56 I genitori ne furono sbalorditi, ma egli ordinò loro di non raccontare a nessuno ciò che era accaduto.
