Luke 13

1 It was just about this time that some people arrived and told him about the Galileans whose bloodPilate had mingled with that of their sacrifices. At this he said to them,	1 In quel medesimo tempo, si presentarono alcuni che gli raccontarono dei Galilei, il cui sangue Pilato aveva mescolato con quello dei loro sacrifici.
2 'Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than any others, that this should havehappened to them?	2 E rispondendo disse loro: «Credete voi che questi Galilei fossero più peccatori di tutti i Galilei, e perciò subirono tal sorte?
3 They were not, I tel you. No; but unless you repent you wil al perish as they did.	3 No, vi dico; ma se non vi ravvederete, perirete tutti egualmente.
4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower at Siloam fel , kil ing them al ? Do you suppose that they weremore guilty than al the other people living in Jerusalem?	4 E quei diciotto sui quali crollò la torre di Siloe uccidendoli, credete voi che fossero più colpevoli di tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme?
5 They were not, I tel you. No; but unless you repent you wil al perish as they did.'	5 No, vi dico; ma se non vi ravvederete, perirete tutti egualmente».
6 He told this parable, 'A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on itbut found none.	6 Diceva poi questa parabola: «Un tale aveva un fico piantato nella sua vigna e venne a cercarvi frutto, ma non ne trovò.
7 He said to his vinedresser, "For three years now I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree andfinding none. Cut it down: why should it be taking up the ground?"	7 Disse allora al vignaiolo: “Ecco, da tre anni vengo a cercar frutto su questo fico e non ve ne trovo; taglialo, a che scopo rendere infruttuoso il terreno?”.
8 "Sir," the man replied, "leave it one more year and give me time to dig round it and manure it:	8 Ma quegli rispose: “Padrone, lascialo ancora quest’anno, fin tanto che io zappi attorno ad esso e metta letame;
9 it may bear fruit next year; if not, then you can cut it down." '	9 se in avvenire farà frutto, bene; se no, lo taglierai”».
10 One Sabbath day he was teaching in one of the synagogues,	10 Gesù stava insegnando in una sinagoga, di sabato,
11 and there before him was a woman who for eighteen years had been possessed by a spirit thatcrippled her; she was bent double and quite unable to stand upright.	11 ed ecco una donna che da diciotto anni aveva uno spirito che le procurava infermità; era tutta curva e non i poteva in alcun modo raddrizzarsi.
12 When Jesus saw her he cal ed her over and said, 'Woman, you are freed from your disability,'	12 Gesù, vedutala, la chiamò e le disse: «Donna, sei liberata dalla tua infermità».
13 and he laid his hands on her. And at once she straightened up, and she glorified God.	13 E le impose le mani, e lì per lì essa si raddrizzò e glorificava Dio.
14 But the president of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and headdressed all those present saying, 'There are six days when work is to be done. Come and be healed on one ofthose days and not on the Sabbath.'	14 Ma il capo della sinagoga, sdegnato perché Gesù aveva guarito di sabato, prese la parola e disse alla folla: «Ci sono sei giorni in cui si deve lavorare; venite dunque in quei giorni per farvi guarire e non di sabato!»
15 But the Lord answered him and said, 'Hypocrites! Is there one of you who does not untie his ox or hisdonkey from the manger on the Sabbath and take it out for watering?	15 Gli rispose il Signore: «Ipocriti! forse che ciascuno di voi, di sabato, non slega il suo bue o il suo asino dalla greppia per menarlo all’abbeverata?
16 And this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has held bound these eighteen years -- was itnot right to untie this bond on the Sabbath day?'	16 E costei, ch'è figlia di Abramo, che Satana teneva legata ormai da diciott’anni, non doveva essere sciolta da questo legame nel giorno di sabato?»
17 When he said this, all his adversaries were covered with confusion, and al the people were overjoyedat al the wonders he worked.	17 Mentre così parlava, tutti i suoi avversari si vergognavano, ma tutta la folla era felice per tutte le cose gloriose fatte da lui.
18 He went on to say, 'What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it with?	18 Diceva dunque: «A che cosa è simile il regno di Dio? a che cosa lo assomiglierò?
19 It is like a mustard seed which a man took and threw into his garden: it grew and became a tree, andthe birds of the air sheltered in its branches.'	19 È simile a un granello di senapa che un uomo ha preso e gettato nel suo giardino; è cresciuto ed è diventato albero, e gli uccelli del cielo vanno a posarsi tra i suoi rami».
20 Again he said, 'What shall I compare the kingdom of God with?	20 Disse ancora: «A che cosa assomiglierò il regno di Dio?
21 It is like the yeast a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour til it was leavened althrough.'	21 È simile a un po’ di lievito, che una donna ha preso e nascosto in tre misure di farina, finché sia tutto fermentato».
22 Through towns and vil ages he went teaching, making his way to Jerusalem.	22 E attraversava città e villaggi, insegnando e dirigendosi a Gerusalemme.
23 Someone said to him, 'Sir, wil there be only a few saved?' He said to them,	23 Uno gli disse: «Signore, son pochi quelli che si salvano?»
24 'Try your hardest to enter by the narrow door, because, I tell you, many wil try to enter and wil notsucceed.	24 Ed egli disse loro: «Sforzatevi di entrare per la porta stretta, perché molti, vi dico, cercheranno di entrare e non potranno.
25 'Once the master of the house has got up and locked the door, you may find yourself standingoutside knocking on the door, saying, "Lord, open to us," but he will answer, "I do not know where you comefrom."	25 Dopo che il padrone di casa si sarà levato e avrà chiuso la porta e voi comincerete, stando fuori, a picchiare alla porta e a dire: “Signore, aprici”, egli risponderà: “Non so di dove voi siate”.
26 Then you wil start saying, "We once ate and drank in your company; you taught in our streets,"	26 Allora comincerete a dire: “Abbiamo mangiato e bevuto alla tua presenza, e tu hai insegnato nelle nostre piazze”.
27 but he wil reply, "I do not know where you come from; away from me, al evil doers!"	27 Ma egli dirà: “Non so di dove voi siate; via da me voi tutti, operatori di iniquità”.
28 'Then there wil be weeping and grinding of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob andal the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrown out.	28 Ivi vi sarà pianto e stridor di denti, quando vedrete Abramo, Isacco, Giacobbe e tutti i profeti nel regno di Dio e voi cacciati fuori.
29 And people from east and west, from north and south, wil come and sit down at the feast in thekingdom of God.	29 Verranno da oriente e da occidente, da settentrione e da mezzogiorno, e si adageranno a mensa nel regno di Dio.
30 'Look, there are those now last who will be first, and those now first who wil be last.'	30 Ed ecco, vi sono ultimi che saranno primi e primi che saranno ultimi».
31 Just at this time some Pharisees came up. 'Go away,' they said. 'Leave this place, because Herodmeans to kill you.'	31 In quella medesima ora vennero alcuni farisci a dirgli: «Parti, vattene di qui: Erode vuole ucciderti».
32 He replied, 'You may go and give that fox this message: Look! Today and tomorrow I drive out devilsand heal, and on the third day I attain my end.	32 E disse loro: «Andate a dire a quella volpe: “Ecco, io. scaccio demoni e opero guarigioni oggi e domani, e il terzo giorno sarà la mia fine.
33 But for today and tomorrow and the next day I must go on, since it would not be right for a prophet todie outside Jerusalem.	33 Ma oggi, domani e il giorno seguente, devo proseguire la mia strada, perché non è possibile che un profeta muoia fuori di Gerusalemme”.
34 'Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kil the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How oftenhave I longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you refused!	34 Gerusalemme, Gerusalemme, che uccidi i profeti e lapidi coloro che sono inviati a te, quante volte ho voluto raccogliere i tuoi figli come una gallina raccoglie i suoi pulcini sotto l’ala e voi non avete voluto!
35 Look! Your house wil be left to you. Yes, I promise you, you shal not see me till the time comeswhen you are saying: Blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord!'	35 Ecco, la vostra casa sarà abbandonata. Vi dico, però: non mi vedrete più finché verrà il momento in cui direte: Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore!»
