1 It was just about this time that some people arrived and told him about the Galileans whose bloodPilate had mingled with that of their sacrifices. At this he said to them,	1 Neste mesmo tempo chegaram alguns a dar-lhe a notícia de certos galileus, cujo sangue Pilatos misturara com o dos sacrifícios deles.
2 'Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than any others, that this should havehappened to them?	2 Jesus respondeu-lhes; "Vós julgais que aqueles galileus eram maiores pecadores que todos os outros galileus, por terem padecido tanto?
3 They were not, I tel you. No; but unless you repent you wil al perish as they did.	3 Não, eu vo-lo digo; mas, se não fizerdes penitência, todos perecereis do mesmo modo.
4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower at Siloam fel , kil ing them al ? Do you suppose that they weremore guilty than al the other people living in Jerusalem?	4 Assim como também aqueles dezoito homens, sobre os quais caiu a torre de Siloé, e os matou, julgais que eles também foram mais culpados que todos os outros habitantes de Jerusalém?
5 They were not, I tel you. No; but unless you repent you wil al perish as they did.'	5 Não, eu vo-lo digo; mas, se não fizerdes penitência, todos perecereis do mesmo modo."
6 He told this parable, 'A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on itbut found none.	6 Dizia também esta parábola: "Um homem tinha uma figueira plantada na sua vinha. Foi buscar fruto, e não o encontrou.
7 He said to his vinedresser, "For three years now I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree andfinding none. Cut it down: why should it be taking up the ground?"	7 Então disse ao cultivador da vinha: Eis que há três anos venho buscar fruto a esta figueira, e não o encontro; corta-a; para que está ela ocupando terreno inutilmente?
8 "Sir," the man replied, "leave it one more year and give me time to dig round it and manure it:	8 Ele, porém, respondeu-lhe: Senhor, deixa-a ainda este ano, enquanto eu a cavo em roda, e lhe lanço esterco;
9 it may bear fruit next year; if not, then you can cut it down." '	9 se com isto der fruto, bem está, senão, cortá-la-ás depois."
10 One Sabbath day he was teaching in one of the synagogues,	10 Jesus estava ensinando numa sinagoga em dia de sábado.
11 and there before him was a woman who for eighteen years had been possessed by a spirit thatcrippled her; she was bent double and quite unable to stand upright.	11 Eslava lá uma mulher possessa de um espírito que a tinha doente havia dezoito anos; andava encurvada, e não podia absolutamente levantar a cabeça.
12 When Jesus saw her he cal ed her over and said, 'Woman, you are freed from your disability,'	12 Jesus, vendo-a, chamou-a, e disse-lhe; "Mulher, estás livre da tua enfermidade.
13 and he laid his hands on her. And at once she straightened up, and she glorified God.	13 impôs-Ihe as mãos. Imediatamente ficou direita, e glorificava a Deus.
14 But the president of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and headdressed all those present saying, 'There are six days when work is to be done. Come and be healed on one ofthose days and not on the Sabbath.'	14 Mas, tomando a palavra o príncipe da sinagoga, indignado de que Jesus tivesse curado em dia de sábado, disse ao povo: "Há seis dias para trabalhar; vinde, pois, nestes, e sede curados, mas não em dia de sábado."
15 But the Lord answered him and said, 'Hypocrites! Is there one of you who does not untie his ox or hisdonkey from the manger on the Sabbath and take it out for watering?	15 O Senhor disse-lhe: "Hipócrilas, qualquer de vós não solta aos sábados o seu boi ou seu jumento da manjedoura, para os levar a beber?
16 And this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has held bound these eighteen years -- was itnot right to untie this bond on the Sabbath day?'	16 E esta filha de Abraão, que Satanás tinha presa, há dezoito anos não devia ser livre desta prisão ao sábado?"
17 When he said this, all his adversaries were covered with confusion, and al the people were overjoyedat al the wonders he worked.	17 Dizendo estas coisas, envergonhavam-se todos os seus adversários, e alegrava-se todo o povo de todas as acções que gloriosamente eram praticadas por ele.
18 He went on to say, 'What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it with?	18 Dizia também: "A que é semelhante o reino de Deus, a que o compararei eu?
19 It is like a mustard seed which a man took and threw into his garden: it grew and became a tree, andthe birds of the air sheltered in its branches.'	19 É semelhante a um grão de mostarda, que um homem tomou e semeou na sua horta; cresceu, tornou-se uma grande planta, e as aves do céu repousaram nos seus ramos.
20 Again he said, 'What shall I compare the kingdom of God with?	20 Disse outra vez : 'A que direi que o reino de Deus é semelhante?
21 It is like the yeast a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour til it was leavened althrough.'	21 É semelhante ao fermento que uma mulher tomou e misturou em três medidas de farinha, até que ficasse tudo levedado."
22 Through towns and vil ages he went teaching, making his way to Jerusalem.	22 Ia pelas cidades e aldeias ensinando, e caminhando para Jerusalém.
23 Someone said to him, 'Sir, wil there be only a few saved?' He said to them,	23 Alguém lhe perguntou: "Senhor, são poucos os que se salvam?" Ele respondeu-lhes:
24 'Try your hardest to enter by the narrow door, because, I tell you, many wil try to enter and wil notsucceed.	24 "Esforçai-vos por entrar pela porta estreita, porque vos digo que muitos procurarão entrar, e não conseguirão.
25 'Once the master of the house has got up and locked the door, you may find yourself standingoutside knocking on the door, saying, "Lord, open to us," but he will answer, "I do not know where you comefrom."	25 Quando o pai de família tiver entrado e fechado a porta, vós, estando fora, começareis a bater à porta, dizendo: Senhor, abre-nos, ele vos responderá: Não sei donde vós sois.
26 Then you wil start saying, "We once ate and drank in your company; you taught in our streets,"	26 Então começareis a dizer: Comemos e bebemos em tua presença, tu ensinaste nas nossas praças.
27 but he wil reply, "I do not know where you come from; away from me, al evil doers!"	27 Ele vos dirá: Não sei donde sois; apartai-vos de mim vós todos os que praticais a iniquidade (Ps. 6, 9).
28 'Then there wil be weeping and grinding of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob andal the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrown out.	28 Ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes, quando virdes Abraão, Isaac, Jacob, e todos os profetas no reino de Deus, e vós serdes expulsos para fora.
29 And people from east and west, from north and south, wil come and sit down at the feast in thekingdom of God.	29 Virão muitos do oriente, do ocidente, do norte, do sul, e se sentarão à mesa no reino de Deus.
30 'Look, there are those now last who will be first, and those now first who wil be last.'	30 Então haverá últimos que serão os primeiros, e primeiros que serão os últimos."
31 Just at this time some Pharisees came up. 'Go away,' they said. 'Leave this place, because Herodmeans to kill you.'	31 No mesmo dia alguns dos fariseus foram dizer-Ihe: "Sai, e vai-te daqui: porque Herodes quer-te matar."
32 He replied, 'You may go and give that fox this message: Look! Today and tomorrow I drive out devilsand heal, and on the third day I attain my end.	32 Ele respondeu-lhes: "Ide dizer a essa raposa: Eis que eu lanço fora os demônios, e faço curas: hoje e amanhã, e ao terceiro dia estou no termo.
33 But for today and tomorrow and the next day I must go on, since it would not be right for a prophet todie outside Jerusalem.	33 Importa, contudo, que eu caminhe ainda hoje, amanhã e no dia seguinte; porque não convém que um profeta morra fora de Jerusalém.
34 'Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kil the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How oftenhave I longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you refused!	34 Jerusalém, Jerusalém, que matas os profetas e apedrejas os que te são enviados, quantas vezes quis juntar os teus filhos como a galinha recolhe os seus pintainhos debaixo das asas, e tu não quiseste!
35 Look! Your house wil be left to you. Yes, I promise you, you shal not see me till the time comeswhen you are saying: Blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord!'	35 Eis vos será deixada deserta a vossa casa. Digo-vos que não me vereis, até que venha o dia em que digais: Bendito o que vem em nome do Senhor (Ps. 117, 26)."
