Luke 13

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 It was just about this time that some people arrived and told him about the Galileans whose bloodPilate had mingled with that of their sacrifices. At this he said to them,	1 In quel momento arrivarono alcuni a riferirgli il fatto di quei galilei che Pilato aveva fatto uccidere mentre stavano offrendo i loro sacrifici.
2 'Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than any others, that this should havehappened to them?	2 Gesù disse: "Credete che quei galilei abbiano subìto tale sorte perché erano più peccatori di tutti gli altri galilei?
3 They were not, I tel you. No; but unless you repent you wil al perish as they did.	3 Vi dico che non è così; anzi, se non vi convertirete, perirete tutti allo stesso modo.
4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower at Siloam fel , kil ing them al ? Do you suppose that they weremore guilty than al the other people living in Jerusalem?	4 E quei diciotto che morirono schiacciati sotto la torre di Siloe, credete voi che fossero più debitori di tutti gli altri abitanti di Gerusalemme?
5 They were not, I tel you. No; but unless you repent you wil al perish as they did.'	5 Io vi dico che non è vero; anzi, se non vi convertirete, perirete tutti allo stesso modo".
6 He told this parable, 'A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on itbut found none.	6 Disse poi questa parabola: "Un uomo aveva un fico piantato nella sua vigna e venne a cogliervi i frutti, ma non ne trovò.
7 He said to his vinedresser, "For three years now I have been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree andfinding none. Cut it down: why should it be taking up the ground?"	7 Allora disse al contadino: "Ecco, sono tre anni che vengo a cercare frutti su questo fico, ma non ne trovo. Taglialo. Perché deve occupare inutilmente il terreno?".
8 "Sir," the man replied, "leave it one more year and give me time to dig round it and manure it:	8 Il contadino rispose: "Signore, lascialo ancora per quest'anno. Voglio zappare bene attorno a questa pianta e metterci del concime.
9 it may bear fruit next year; if not, then you can cut it down." '	9 Può darsi che il prossimo anno produca dei frutti; se no, lo farai tagliare".
10 One Sabbath day he was teaching in one of the synagogues,	10 Una volta stava insegnando in una sinagoga, ed era di sabato.
11 and there before him was a woman who for eighteen years had been possessed by a spirit thatcrippled her; she was bent double and quite unable to stand upright.	11 Vi era una donna che da diciotto anni uno spirito maligno teneva inferma. Era curva e non poteva in nessun modo stare diritta.
12 When Jesus saw her he cal ed her over and said, 'Woman, you are freed from your disability,'	12 Quando Gesù la vide, la chiamò e le disse: "Donna, sei guarita dalla tua malattia".
13 and he laid his hands on her. And at once she straightened up, and she glorified God.	13 Impose le sue mani su di lei e subito ella si raddrizzò e si mise a glorificare Dio.
14 But the president of the synagogue was indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and headdressed all those present saying, 'There are six days when work is to be done. Come and be healed on one ofthose days and not on the Sabbath.'	14 Ma il capo della sinagoga, indignato perché Gesù aveva fatto quella guarigione di sabato, si rivolse alla folla e disse: "Sono sei i giorni in cui si deve lavorare: venite dunque a farvi guarire in quelli e non di sabato".
15 But the Lord answered him and said, 'Hypocrites! Is there one of you who does not untie his ox or hisdonkey from the manger on the Sabbath and take it out for watering?	15 Ma il Signore rispose: "Ipocriti! Ognuno di voi non slega forse di sabato il bue o l'asino dalla mangiatoia per portarli ad abbeverarsi?
16 And this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has held bound these eighteen years -- was itnot right to untie this bond on the Sabbath day?'	16 E costei, discendente di Abramo, che Satana teneva legata da diciotto anni, non doveva essere sciolta da questo legame, anche se era di sabato?".
17 When he said this, all his adversaries were covered with confusion, and al the people were overjoyedat al the wonders he worked.	17 Mentre egli diceva queste cose, tutti i suoi avversari erano pieni di vergogna. 18 He went on to say, 'What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it with?	18 Diceva dunque: "A che cosa è simile il regno di Dio? A che cosa lo paragonerò?
19 It is like a mustard seed which a man took and threw into his garden: it grew and became a tree, andthe birds of the air sheltered in its branches.'	19 E' simile ad un granello di senapa, che un uomo ha preso e seminato nel suo orto. Quel granello è cresciuto ed è poi diventato un albero, e gli uccelli del cielo son venuti a posarsi tra i suoi rami".
20 Again he said, 'What shall I compare the kingdom of God with?	20 Disse ancora: "A che cosa paragonerò il regno di Dio?
21 It is like the yeast a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour til it was leavened althrough.'	21 E' simile al lievito che una donna ha preso e impastato con tre grosse misure di farina. Allora il lievito fa fermentare tutta la pasta".
22 Through towns and vil ages he went teaching, making his way to Jerusalem.	22 Insegnando, Gesù attraversava città e villaggi e intanto andava verso Gerusalemme.
23 Someone said to him, 'Sir, wil there be only a few saved?' He said to them,	23 Un tale gli domandò: "Signore, sono pochi quelli che si salvano?". Rispose:
24 'Try your hardest to enter by the narrow door, because, I tell you, many wil try to enter and wil notsucceed.	24 "Sforzatevi di entrare per la porta stretta, perché vi assicuro che molti cercheranno di entrare, ma non vi riusciranno.
25 'Once the master of the house has got up and locked the door, you may find yourself standingoutside knocking on the door, saying, "Lord, open to us," but he will answer, "I do not know where you comefrom."	25 Dopo che il padrone di casa si sarà alzato e avrà chiuso la porta, voi comincerete a star fuori e a bussare alla porta dicendo: "Signore, aprici". Ma egli vi risponderà: "Non vi conosco, non so da dove venite".
26 Then you wil start saying, "We once ate and drank in your company; you taught in our streets,"	26 Allora comincerete a dire: "Noi abbiamo mangiato e bevuto dinanzi a te, e tu sei passato, insegnando, nei nostri villaggi".
27 but he wil reply, "I do not know where you come from; away from me, al evil doers!"	27 Alla fine egli vi dirà: "Io non so donde siete. Allontanatevi da me, voi tutti operatori di ingiustizia!".
28 'Then there wil be weeping and grinding of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob andal the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrown out.	28 Là voi piangerete e soffrirete molto, quando vedrete Abramo, Isacco e Giacobbe e tutti i profeti nel regno di Dio, e voi fuori.
29 And people from east and west, from north and south, wil come and sit down at the feast in thekingdom of God.	29 Verranno da oriente e da occidente, da settentrione e da mezzogiorno e parteciperanno tutti al banchetto nel regno di Dio.
30 'Look, there are those now last who will be first, and those now first who wil be last.'	30 Ed ecco: alcuni di quelli che ora sono tra gli ultimi saranno i primi, mentre altri che ora sono i primi saranno gli ultimi".
31 Just at this time some Pharisees came up. 'Go away,' they said. 'Leave this place, because Herodmeans to kill you.'	31 In quel momento si avvicinarono alcuni farisei e gli dissero: "Esci e parti da qui, perché Erode vuol farti uccidere".
32 He replied, 'You may go and give that fox this message: Look! Today and tomorrow I drive out devilsand heal, and on the third day I attain my end.	32 Egli rispose: "Andate a dire a quella volpe: Ecco, io scaccio gli spiriti maligni e compio guarigioni oggi e domani, e il terzo giorno raggiungerò la mia mèta.
33 But for today and tomorrow and the next day I must go on, since it would not be right for a prophet todie outside Jerusalem.	33 Però oggi, domani e il giorno seguente è necessario che io continui per la mia strada, perché nessun profeta può morire fuori di Gerusalemme.
34 'Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kil the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How oftenhave I longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you refused!	34 Gerusalemme, Gerusalemme, che uccidi i profeti e lapidi i messaggeri che ti sono inviati! Quante volte ho voluto raccogliere i tuoi figli, come la chioccia raccoglie i suoi pulcini sotto le ali. Ma voi non avete voluto!
35 Look! Your house wil be left to you. Yes, I promise you, you shal not see me till the time comeswhen you are saying: Blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord!'	35 Ebbene, la vostra casa sarà abbandonata! Vi dico che non mi vedrete più fino a quando esclamerete: Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore".
