Matthew 28

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 After the Sabbath, and towards dawn on the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Marywent to visit the sepulchre.	1 Après le jour du sabbat, comme le premier jour de la semaine commençait à poindre, Marie deMagdala et l'autre Marie vinrent visiter le sépulcre.
2 And suddenly there was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, cameand rol ed away the stone and sat on it.	2 Et voilà qu'il se fit un grand tremblement de terre: l'Ange du Seigneur descendit du ciel et vintrouler la pierre, sur laquelle il s'assit.
3 His face was like lightning, his robe white as snow.	3 Il avait l'aspect de l'éclair, et sa robe était blanche comme neige.
4 The guards were so shaken by fear of him that they were like dead men.	4 A sa vue, les gardes tressaillirent d'effroi et devinrent comme morts.
5 But the angel spoke; and he said to the women, 'There is no need for you to be afraid. I know you arelooking for Jesus, who was crucified.	5 Mais l'ange prit la parole et dit aux femmes: "Ne craignez point, vous: je sais bien que vouscherchez Jésus, le Crucifié.
6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said he would. Come and see the place where he lay,	6 Il n'est pas ici, car il est ressuscité comme il l'avait dit. Venez voir le lieu où il gisait,
7 then go quickly and tel his disciples, "He has risen from the dead and now he is going ahead of you toGalilee; that is where you wil see him." Look! I have told you.'	7 et vite allez dire à ses disciples: Il est ressuscité d'entre les morts, et voilà qu'il vous précède enGalilée; c'est là que vous le verrez. Voilà, je vous l'ai dit."
8 Fil ed with awe and great joy the women came quickly away from the tomb and ran to tel his disciples.	8 Quittant vite le tombeau, tout émues et pleines de joie, elles coururent porter la nouvelle à sesdisciples.
9 And suddenly, coming to meet them, was Jesus. 'Greetings,' he said. And the women came up to himand, clasping his feet, they did him homage.	9 Et voici que Jésus vint à leur rencontre: "Je vous salue", dit-il. Et elles de s'approcher etd'étreindre ses pieds en se prosternant devant lui.
10 Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee;there they wil see me.'	10 Alors Jésus leur dit: "Ne craignez point; allez annoncer à mes frères qu'ils doivent partir pour laGalilée, et là ils me verront."
11 Now while they were on their way, some of the guards went off into the city to tell the chief priests althat had happened.	11 Tandis qu'elles s'en allaient, voici que quelques hommes de la garde vinrent en ville rapporteraux grands prêtres tout ce qui s'était passé.
12 These held a meeting with the elders and, after some discussion, handed a considerable sum ofmoney to the soldiers	12 Ceux-ci tinrent une réunion avec les anciens et, après avoir délibéré, ils donnèrent aux soldatsune forte somme d'argent,
13 with these instructions, 'This is what you must say, "His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep."	13 avec cette consigne: "Vous direz ceci: Ses disciples sont venus de nuit et l'ont dérobé tandis quenous dormions.
14 And should the governor come to hear of this, we undertake to put things right with him ourselvesand to see that you do not get into trouble.'	14 Que si l'affaire vient aux oreilles du gouverneur, nous nous chargeons de l'amadouer et de vousépargner tout ennui."
15 So they took the money and carried out their instructions, and to this day that is the story among theJews.	15 Les soldats, ayant pris l'argent, exécutèrent la consigne, et cette histoire s'est colportée parmi lesJuifs jusqu'à ce jour.
16 Meanwhile the eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged tomeet them.	16 Quant aux onze disciples, ils se rendirent en Galilée, à la montagne où Jésus leur avait donnérendez-vous.
17 When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated.	17 Et quand ils le virent, ils se prosternèrent; d'aucuns cependant doutèrent.
18 Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given tome.	18 S'avançant, Jésus leur dit ces paroles: "Tout pouvoir m'a été donné au ciel et sur la terre.
19 Go, therefore, make disciples of al nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Sonand of the Holy Spirit,	19 Allez donc, de toutes les nations faites des disciples, les baptisant au nom du Père et du Fils etdu Saint Esprit,
20 and teach them to observe al the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to theend of time.'	20 et leur apprenant à observer tout ce que je vous ai prescrit. Et voici que je suis avec vous pourtoujours jusqu'à la fin du monde."
