1 After the Sabbath, and towards dawn on the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Marywent to visit the sepulchre.	1 Après le sabbat, à l’aube du premier jour de la semaine, Marie de Magdala était allée visiter la tombe avec l’autre Marie.
2 And suddenly there was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, cameand rol ed away the stone and sat on it.	2 Mais voici que la terre tremble. L’ange du Seigneur descend du ciel et s’approche, il fait rouler la pierre, puis il s’assied dessus.
3 His face was like lightning, his robe white as snow.	3 Son apparence est celle de l’éclair et son vêtement est blanc comme neige.
4 The guards were so shaken by fear of him that they were like dead men.	4 Il provoque une telle frayeur parmi ceux qui montent la garde, qu’ils restent sous le choc et sont comme morts.
5 But the angel spoke; and he said to the women, 'There is no need for you to be afraid. I know you arelooking for Jesus, who was crucified.	5 Mais l’ange s’adresse aux femmes et leur dit: "Vous, ne craignez pas! Je sais que vous cherchez Jésus, le crucifié.
6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said he would. Come and see the place where he lay,	6 Mais il n’est pas ici, il est ressuscité comme il l’avait dit. Approchez et voyez l’endroit où on l’avait déposé,
7 then go quickly and tel his disciples, "He has risen from the dead and now he is going ahead of you toGalilee; that is where you wil see him." Look! I have told you.'	7 et puis, vite, allez dire à ses disciples qu’il s’est relevé d’entre les morts. Déjà il vous précède en Galilée, et là vous le verrez. C’est là tout mon message.”
8 Fil ed with awe and great joy the women came quickly away from the tomb and ran to tel his disciples.	8 Vite elles partirent de la tombe, partagées entre la joie immense et la frayeur, et elles coururent porter la nouvelle à ses disciples.
9 And suddenly, coming to meet them, was Jesus. 'Greetings,' he said. And the women came up to himand, clasping his feet, they did him homage.	9 Jésus lui-même vint à leur rencontre et leur dit: "Jour de joie!” Elles s’approchèrent pour embrasser ses pieds et se prosternèrent devant lui.
10 Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee;there they wil see me.'	10 Alors Jésus leur dit: “Ne craignez pas. Allez dire à mes frères qu’ils partent en Galilée, là ils me verront.”
11 Now while they were on their way, some of the guards went off into the city to tell the chief priests althat had happened.	11 Pendant qu’elles y vont, quelques-uns des gardes reviennent à la ville et racontent toute l’affaire aux chefs des prêtres.
12 These held a meeting with the elders and, after some discussion, handed a considerable sum ofmoney to the soldiers	12 Alors ils se réunissent avec les Anciens et décident de donner aux soldats une bonne somme d’argent
13 with these instructions, 'This is what you must say, "His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep."	13 avec cette consigne: "Vous direz que ses disciples sont venus de nuit pendant que vous dormiez, et qu’ils ont fait disparaître son corps.
14 And should the governor come to hear of this, we undertake to put things right with him ourselvesand to see that you do not get into trouble.'	14 Si le gouverneur apprend quelque chose, nous saurons lui parler de façon que vous n’ayez pas d’ennuis.”
15 So they took the money and carried out their instructions, and to this day that is the story among theJews.	15 Les soldats prirent donc l’argent et firent comme on leur demandait: jusqu’à maintenant on raconte cette histoire chez les Juifs.
16 Meanwhile the eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged tomeet them.	16 Les onze disciples allèrent en Galilée, à la montagne que Jésus leur avait indiquée.
17 When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated.	17 En le voyant ils se prosternèrent, mais certains gardaient des doutes.
18 Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given tome.	18 Alors Jésus s’approcha et leur dit: "Tout pouvoir m’a été donné au ciel et sur la terre.
19 Go, therefore, make disciples of al nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Sonand of the Holy Spirit,	19 Allez donc et faites-moi des disciples de toutes les nations. Vous les baptiserez au nom du Père et du Fils et de l’Esprit Saint,
20 and teach them to observe al the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to theend of time.'	20 et vous leur enseignerez, pour qu’ils l’observent, tout ce que je vous ai ordonné. Voici que je suis avec vous tous les jours jusqu’à la fin du temps.”
