Matthew 28

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 After the Sabbath, and towards dawn on the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Marywent to visit the sepulchre.	1 Pasado el sábado, al amanecer del primer día de la semana, María Magdalena y la otra María fueron a visitar el sepulcro.
2 And suddenly there was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, cameand rol ed away the stone and sat on it.	2 De pronto, se produjo un gran temblor de tierra: el Angel del Señor bajó del cielo, hizo rodar la piedra del sepulcro y se sentó sobre ella.
3 His face was like lightning, his robe white as snow.	3 Su aspecto era como el de un relámpago y sus vestiduras eran blancas como la nieve.
4 The guards were so shaken by fear of him that they were like dead men.	4 Al verlo, los guardias temblaron de espanto y quedaron como muertos.
5 But the angel spoke; and he said to the women, 'There is no need for you to be afraid. I know you arelooking for Jesus, who was crucified.	5 El Angel dijo a las mujeres: «No teman, yo sé que ustedes buscan a Jesús, el Crucificado.
6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said he would. Come and see the place where he lay,	6 No está aquí, porque ha resucitado como lo había dicho. Vengan a ver el lugar donde estaba,
7 then go quickly and tel his disciples, "He has risen from the dead and now he is going ahead of you toGalilee; that is where you wil see him." Look! I have told you.'	7 y vayan en seguida a decir a sus discípulos: «Ha resucitado de entre los muertos, e irá antes que ustedes a Galilea: allí lo verán». Esto es lo que tenía que decirles».
8 Fil ed with awe and great joy the women came quickly away from the tomb and ran to tel his disciples.	8 Las mujeres, atemorizadas pero llenas de alegría, se alejaron rápidamente del sepulcro y fueron a dar la noticia a los discípulos.
9 And suddenly, coming to meet them, was Jesus. 'Greetings,' he said. And the women came up to himand, clasping his feet, they did him homage.	9 De pronto, Jesús salió a su encuentro y las saludó, diciendo: «Alégrense». Ellas se acercaron y, abrazándole los pies, se postraron delante de él.
10 Then Jesus said to them, 'Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers that they must leave for Galilee;there they wil see me.'	10 Y Jesús les dijo: «No teman; avisen a mis hermanos que vayan a Galilea, y allí me verán».
11 Now while they were on their way, some of the guards went off into the city to tell the chief priests althat had happened.	11 Mientras ellas se alejaban, algunos guardias fueron a la ciudad para contar a los sumos sacerdotes todo lo que había sucedido.
12 These held a meeting with the elders and, after some discussion, handed a considerable sum ofmoney to the soldiers	12 Estos se reunieron con los ancianos y, de común acuerdo, dieron a los soldados una gran cantidad de dinero,
13 with these instructions, 'This is what you must say, "His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep."	13 con esta consigna: «Digan así: «Sus discípulos vinieron durante la noche y robaron su cuerpo, mientras dormíamos».
14 And should the governor come to hear of this, we undertake to put things right with him ourselvesand to see that you do not get into trouble.'	14 Si el asunto llega a oídos del gobernador, nosotros nos encargaremos de apaciguarlo y de evitarles a ustedes cualquier contratiempo».
15 So they took the money and carried out their instructions, and to this day that is the story among theJews.	15 Ellos recibieron el dinero y cumplieron la consigna. Esta versión se ha difundido entre los judíos hasta el día de hoy.
16 Meanwhile the eleven disciples set out for Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged tomeet them.	16 Los once discípulos fueron a Galilea, a la montaña donde Jesús los había citado.
17 When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated.	17 Al verlo, se postraron delante de el; sin embargo, algunos todavía dudaron.
18 Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given tome.	18 Acercándose, Jesús les dijo: «Yo he recibido todo poder en el cielo y en la tierra.
19 Go, therefore, make disciples of al nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Sonand of the Holy Spirit,	19 Vayan, y hagan que todos los pueblos sean mis discípulos, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo,
20 and teach them to observe al the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to theend of time.'	20 y enseñándoles a cumplir todo lo que yo les he mandado. Y yo estaré siempre con ustedes hasta el fin del mundo».
